thanks fellas..Caubecari unfortunately i dont have a pic of the cascade hooked on the board maybe i could snap one next week when i start to play with 3d marks

btw here is my best vantage cpu clocks so far.. if i disable HT i can reach +4.9 ghz, unfortunately i've not yet been able to find a setting that allows me to bench at so high clocks with the HT enabled.. but i guess this is not too bad for starters

The 22x Multi is due to Intels advanced Turbo boos technology, it applies on the 920, 940 and 965. it is basically when the cpu detects that it needs more power it wil raise the CPU multi to adjust the core clock of the cpu

on ASUS boards it is not easy to OC with because multi jumps from 20x to 21x to 22x.... making the system a little more unstable at times.

currently motherboard manufacturers like ASUS are trying to find a workaround on the turbo boost technology which will allow us overclockers to use the extra multiplier with out the speed stepping enabled !!!!

when that happens we will be able to manually set a 22x multi on the i7 920 and a 23x multi on the i7 940

i've been busy with lots of different stuff lately and haven't had much time to play with my "toys" but finally got my self a new cpu and it seems to be fairly good so far.
and of course more will follow as i get more time to really get close and intimate with this new D0 chip
so far i've noticed that it has a nasty cold boot bug around -90c wich sucks big time i have to do alot of mounting trickery to be able to boot up with my cascade witch little bit scares me

the settings used were the following:
    pci-express frequency 115.7mhz
    vcore 1.6v
    dimm voltage. 1.72v
    Qpi vcore 1.52v
    cpu pll 2.0v
    ioh vcore 1.225v
    cpu vtt 1.52v
    ioh/ich/o 1.55v
    ich vcore 1.2v

not bad for the good old evga x58 board i would say

hehe you could have just pm'd me about this but anyways since you asked it here i might as well give you the answer here too. i booted into windows at 114 then raised it to 115.7. the card that i used wont boot with any higher pci-e frequency so raising it from windows is the only option.

I could have but then what does that do for the other fella's with the board? People are still running it.

I've tried 4 different cards now, none can boot at PCIE >110 in the bios. HD 4670, 5770, 9800GTX+ and 285.

Also, after 103 PCIE, my ethernet takes a dive.

maybe you could try something older i have a ati 1650 pro that allowes me to take the pci-express frqs much higher than on high end cards.. but some cards like 8800gtx by xfx could withstand 145 freqs on the older p35 and 790i boards.. too bad i dont have that card anymore it would be interesting to test how high i could take the pci-e on x58 boards

Really nice results m8, your cascade is doing a great job

P.S. I managed to get 130MHz PCI-E (booted in windows with 122MHz) on my ex-Bloodrage and with XFX GTX280.
I'm curious what my new Asus RIIE can do.

it's nice but QPI slow mode had allot to do with that high clock. Without it, it's pretty tough lol.
