I like my Q9550 and all, but the extra 0.5x multi would have been awesome. since I only run my fsb @ 400-410mhz 24/7 these days which is 3.4-3.45ghz, 3.6-3.7ghz would have been sweet.

My DFI board sometimes from boot to boot won't correctly do the POST memory delay procedure correctly, and it can screw up my stable bios settings. I haven't been bothered to go through a solid week of testing/fine change/testing/fine change to get the FSB any higher. At 400-410mhz board works great with the GTLs I worked out are optimal for my cpu/board anywhere from 333-420mhz fsb. Beyond this point GTLs will work most of the time, but cause the once in a blue moon bsod which might takes hours or days to come up. Then once I change them by a fraction (0.0007-8v) I gotta repeat the whole procedure again if it passes prime/linpack!

Good luck with your Q9650 if it works great maybe you can send Asus an xmas present this year instead of an angry love letter
All I need is a good batch. I keep my fingers crossed because I didn't have much luck with my hardware. I don't want to RMA it after some time because it sucks.

The new batch L847C037 seems to be very good with a low VID. It would be awesome if I can get one of these.

And yes, I would love to send ASUS an Xmas present this year.

My 9550 is batch #L845B512, don't know much about the different batches but this one has a 1.19v VID and runs 3.6ghz at 1..20-1.21V perfectly.

    Well guys,
I really didn´t care about the batch before I bought the Q9650. The VID is 1.3v and I have to adjust 1.36v in BIOS (=1.32v real) to get the 4 GHz (470*8,5) prime95 and LinX0.6.1 stable. I can live with it.

    @Mikeyakame,
This DFI behavior is common. Even when you got it LinX stable, on some days the board has it´s own mudes. Or for example one step more vnb seems to much voltage and prime95 stops after the first loop large FFTs.
Yesterday I changed the "Read Delay Phase Adjust Pull-ins" from all in Channel 1 "Auto" to "enabled" (=e) "Auto"(=a), e, e, e and Channel 2 to e, a, a, e, e everything worked out fine but today I had to Clear CMOS because of a C1 fault

EDit: I read your post on DFI LANParty thread, thanks for that!

Is there any new ASUS-BIOS coming up the next days. The 0902 ist about six months old.

    That's what I call a good batch.

It doesn't mean that a batch with a low VID is going to overclock very good but it gives you more room to raise the CPU Voltage.

    Yoh Alien-Grey,
are you still waiting for your Q9650 or are you just "priming" and "LinXing" a new cpu?

    I've got my Q9650 today.

The good news is that it's running at 4.05 GHz. The bad news is that it needs 1.29-130V on load to run stable at 4.05GHz with my G.SKILL F2-9600CL5D-4GBPI at 1199MHz and tRD 6.

It's going to be almost impossible to overclock it much further unless I put some high volts on that CPU.

I also have a core temp that is stuck at 39° Celsius.

Not much luck again for me.

I also have a core stuck @ 41 - it goes up but never lower than 41. If you can run higher volts and @ the same time having low temps i dont think thats a prob.

Right now im having holidays in Greece and guys its really hot. Tommorow we expect 43 degrees
I use a laptop of a friend and its working all the time @ 60c without heavy load
Tomorrow with the 43c ill do some torturetests and ill come back with some results.....
