I spy another nice worklog in here Mind me asking what thermal pads you used ?

@D0BR0 Sorry to hear about your "graphics problem" Hope that you'll finally get a "normal" GTX

Just the thermal pads that came with the Koolance kit. The pink are 1.0mm and the grey are 0.5mm.

Forgot to mention this which was carried out before all the other steps above. Shame you can't insert posts before other posts

Very first thing to do was to rinse out the tops with some de-ionized water as well as give them a quick clean with the toothbrush. I also poured some de-ionized through the CPU and GPU blocks to get out any dust or particles. I considered taking the blocks apart to clean them but decided against it because:

    A) More dust/dirt is likely to get in.
    B) Could damage the blocks.
    C) After opening my old CPU-350 (the one with the damaged thread), it looked immaculate inside bar a piece of small plastic on the inlet which could've been removed without opening the block. It looked like it was just from the hole cutting process and besides, this plastic wasn't there on the new block I got after RMA.

Just a quick update: I was meant to fit the CPU Waterblock yesterday but alas my CPU is dead. I tried testing the CPU with the stock heatsink before I started messing around putting the waterblock on and it's a no go.

I'll be getting a new one soon enough though hopefully so I'll keep you up-to-date.

Meanwhile I continue on with my Thermochill flushing.

Here's a pic of my shower connected up to the rad for flushing.

Lol, I'm going to use the support bar in the case to make sure they don't strain the motherboard.

    Thanks for the tip

I did think about getting these but I've heard that they can be more trouble than they're worth: mismatching sizes etc.

I've decided to just use regular tubing in between.

    Hi guys,

    Just a quick update:

I'm not in Manchester until Sunday but I'm still working on my PC. "How?" you say? :P

I'm currently trying to source a piece of metal here in the North East of England that will act as a res + pump mount. I didn't come all this way just for metal though :P

I'm thinking about maybe cutting up an old baking tray and using that, with dimensions shown by the following picture:

I'm thinking a sheet of aluminium, steel or even plastic would do the job here, and a baking tray seems like the cheapest option.

Since I don't have my case with me here, could someone do me a big favour and measure (roughly) the lengths of the green and blue line so I can cut the metal here? It doesn't have to be totally exact, just to the nearest half-inch.

    Cheers guys

Hi mate, got your PM, gonna measure it

So the green is around 36cm, just a bit longer than the ATX mobo. But did you maybe want the dimensions of the PCI cards holder? From the points marked on the picture, it would be 32.5cm. (no perspective, can't really know )
And the blue is around 13cm. There are so many holes to fix this bar (on the bottom of the case), and I stripped the case down, do don't really know where it should go...
Hope this gonna help you a bit

Thanks man, I really appreciate that

I'm currently looking at using a 1/4 inch thick white, plastic, kitchen chopping board (cut down to size) to mount the res's and pumps on.

I don't think the white will look very good though inside the case.

    What does everyone think?

I'm reluctant to spray paint it as I don't really have anywhere I can do this without making a mess.

Does anyone know of any other plastic I could use that is black already?

    Cheers

You could use some black plexi, it would look veeery elegant and light because of its gloss aspect.

Well I have to say that shower idea was a first for me. I have never seen such elegance in a P80 and with the Black Plexi, Your best bet is delviesplastics.com never ordered from there because I live across the street from a plastics place where they do custom cutting and ordering and carbon fibering stuff, I worked in the shop with them to build an acrylic fish tank/ computer case.

Thanks for the tip but I've managed to source a black Ikea chopping board which I'm going to cut and sand to size :P

It was only £4 delivered from ebay.
