Well with the 0809 bios, I booted up and got into windows with 1600 mem, but it drops out 2gb and only 4gb of ram show up in bios, and windows, yet cpuz shows 6gb. If I go back to 1200, then 6gb shows up and works fine and memtest also passes. I also tried playing around with dram voltage and qpi voltage, but I couldn't get 6gb to show up while under 1600+....

Can this board do raid -0-? I thought I read somewhere in a review that it doesn't? And how does the N/B & S/B fair when OCing with the heat? Thanks

From what it seems like, the NB gets pretty hot - you're better off putting a fan over the sink area - as is usually the case (kek) with MATX size enclosures.

Board fully supports Raid 0, Raid 1 and Raid 5. I'm running 4 SSD in Raid 0 and 2 hard drives in Raid 1 without any issues.

I havent had time to test each stick indivually at 1600 but I will try, my memory: G.SKILL

is on the QVL list so there is not really any major reason it shouldn't work unless one of the memory sticks won't clock that high I guess. I will try it on Friday when I have time and report back.
When I had the 700 bios the memory wouldn't even post at 1600, but now it works fine, except it drops 1 stick out, so logically it would seem that someone is wrong with one of the sticks then? I have set ram settings manually and through xmp profile with same results.

Had problem with XMP on this board, when i used that for my patriot memories i noticed a little to late that it gave 2v to memories. Even if it was set to 1.65 in bios. So in the end it damaged on of my sticks, sometime it only showed 4gb and sometimes 6gb. Had huge problems with game errors etc. But not i have a new kit and keeping my eyes on the voltage, ROCK SOLID

So just a tip , if u using the XMP profile, check your DRAM voltage in Windows

On my 3rd R2G board now with the same damned problem. Set of triple channel Dominator 1600MHz sticks, everything boots fine but for some damn reason the system keeps randomly locking up in Windows. It is not BSODing or crashing or anything, but as soon as something DRAM intensive is done or even more applications are opened at once the system will randomly lock up. I also noticed that when this happens all USB devices generally lose power. Now, if I drop the DRAM speed to 1200MHz then everything is fine. Any idea what is going on here?

The same sticks work just fine by the way at 1600MHz (in fact up to 1800MHz) on R2E and EVGA Classified (759) board.

I'm running a R2G w/ i7 920 @ 205x21 (4.3GHz)
I'm also using Elipda Hyper IC Ram, Corsair Dominator GT CL8 @ 2000MHz to be exact.

I noticed earlier someone referred to my post in the ASUS support forums about the Elpida Hyper IC Ram problem. I've been shooting back and forth e-mails at least 10 times with ASUS Support concerning this problem. They kept mentioning to me that the RAM was out of spec to the memory controller on the i7 and that 2000MHz (O.C.) means it's not fully supported by the board (which is absolute rubbish)

Anyway, after much effort and annoyance they told me that they don't know if there's a problem with Elpida Hyper IC ram and that there are too many differnt types of ram modules for them to test.

I am currently running BIOS 0809, and still the Dominator GT's will not run at their maximum rated speed, even with 1.6QPI and 1.7V VDIMM (I know it's ok to increase above 1.65V if the QPI and VDIMM Voltage doesn't exceed 0.5V's)
Even with those voltages, CL8 @ 2000MHz (2050 effective due to 205 Blk, ~2000 with 200blk) was NOT possible.

I read in this thread that someone managed to run the OCZ Blade Elipda Hyper IC ram at 2166 @ CL9 on this Mobo with 0809? How is that possible?

Dominator GTs, OCZ Blade, GSkill Perfect Storm, Patriot Vipers, Kingston HyperX, you name it for the Elpida Hypers, all do about the same - 1.4V VTT, 1.66V VDimm, CPU offset 0.1250V, CPU PLL 1.85V, no problems here or with the other 1000 or so memory benchmarks I have run on this board.

I'm running 0809 with the ram at 1866 mhz 9-9-9-24 and all auto except voltage is at 1.67. 2000 mhz is not possible unless you use laxer timings and a little more voltage.

Most important setting is the B2B, I can get it sort of benchstable at 8 but for daily use I would recommend 12. The board is really erratic if you go lower here.

My main concern with this board is the heat output. Does this thing get freaking... Temps over 90°C on the NB temp readout with the COrsair H50 unit installed. An active fan drops temps to 65°C. The back of the mobo is very hot too...

Hey again, I gave it another shot.
Got into Windows 7 and managed to pass 1M, and a Memory Benchmark in everest.


Not bad not bad. But when I tired 4M bench, it locks up. Upped QPI to 1.6V, same thing. I know its not the CPU because I tired memtest as well and it fails (even with the massive increments) Please not I never dropped under CL8 for these tests and no more than 2000MHz. Soooo...whilst that's good and all, close but no cigar. lol

I'm sorta running into cooling limitations now, If I pup QPI much more than what I have it now it really likes to heat things up. Might have to see what I can do about putting the CPU and NB under water (might consider drilling some holes and mounting a rad out the back) One loop, one to CPU, then to NB, then back out.

Right now Im running 1.25V CPU, 1.25QPI, 1.65VDIMM. 6-6-6-18 1T @ 1600MHz rock stable and decent temps. I think I should be happy with that.

CL8@2000MHz should be getting around 20,000Write correct? Perhaps I need to fiddle around with the other timings also?

It has next to nothing to do with the motherboard or the memory itself when trying to run ram @ 2000Mhz, You most likely have a weak memory controler on your CPU.

With each B2B increment you loose about 900mb read, it's not a CPU issue but a bios issue. Try eg lower Bclock and you will see you can get ya total ram speed further and ram bandwith too. We mailed Asus already about it , we will see what comes out ( via eventually a newer bios )

B2B on AUTO corresponds to 4-5ish setting.

To prove it's not always the CPU ; I was limited at anything over 200Bclock, 2000mhz ram and 4000 uncore. 1 bclock higher and I had lockups in Hyperpi 32MB 8 threads. No matter what QPI voltage or timings I tried the rams wouldn't go over 2000mhz (while we benched them the day before +2200mhz on the Classified)

I'm gonna go back to the RE 2 to see if's the same issue there, for me Asus has put this particular setting a bit too tight ( hence why these boards are so fab in eg Superpi ) which makes stability a bit erratic.

I see many Everest bandwith screenshots, but they prove nothing regarding stability, I can go at least 1-2 B2B increments lower and impress you all with the bandwith , yet I freeze maybe in a 1mb pi run... in the upcoming review I will post the B2B's which were Hyperpi 32m stable on my setup for different ram speeds

How to get back 22x Multiplier? I used to have 22x Multiplier in 705 bios, but after updating 809, I cant have 22x multiplier even if I set CPU ratio at auto/21 or turbo enabled in bios.
