Just wondering, is it good if a E7400 can run stock GHz with only 1.05vcore?
Thanks

yep, it's good![]()
I've given up with my E7200.... Its a bum. 3.6GHz @ 1.4v+. I'll have one last crack at it, but I think I'm looking at a new CPU. Might get a Quad of sorts.

What you gonna do with your e7200 then?
Try to bench with it?

Nah, probably just sell it.

Hey guys,
Anyone of you here able to OC an e7300 to 4ghz? I can only make it to 3.6ghz @ 8x400fsb 1.40v stable.
Hi, just joined and wanted a bit of advice. I've never overclocked before, but want to get a bit extra out of my E7400 so any help would be appreciated. Computer specs as in my sig.....

i tweek only FSB to 1370 and DDR2 to 800 (default). very stable and cool with default heatsink!
trying with vcore >1.3 never suceed to pass 1400 FSB (i wonder if it is a mobo limit). but i don't think that we should go with more that 1.36V with E7x00 family.
ASUS IGP 9300 / E7400 @3.6,stock volt

I have trouble with my E7400..:o
peoples say my E7400 is a gold batch.
my problem is my E7400 can't step to 4.5ghz.
I don't know what to do.. anyone know how to ?
Gigabyte EP45-UD3R
Intel E7400
GSkill Pi Black 4GB KIT PC6400
FSP Epsilon 700W
Xigmatek Red Scorpion (used in that picture)
Now using WC. old one from ThermalTake
Your problem probably is the cooling, WC from Thermaltake is such crap, a high end air cooler will do better... I could bench my E7400 up to 4.5 on air, for more ( wprime and co) I need phase or even cascade to go over 5.1Ghz. Same story with my Pentium E6300 now. Benches fine up to 4.4Ghz, over that I need phase again...and better...
These CPU's are not for 24/7 use at 4.5Ghz, ,not even all real wolfdales ( E8X series) can do that... Settle with 4ghz with eg 8 x 500FSB and enjoy that CPU...
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved
Remark : They call me Pro AsusSaaya yupp, I agree
In that picture i'm using Xigmatek Red Scorpion S1283
i'm testing
9x500mhz
VCore @ 1.475 (in the BIOS)
Northbridge about 1.2-1.3V
PLL @ default
this set let me through the POST. But when the windows logo come up. It become freeze then in a second going to BSOD
I'm wondering, anything that i could change ? so i can go through 4.5ghz.
it's for benchmark purpose only (super pi 1M and 3dmark series)
thanks
EDIT:
My friend's dad give me a used radiator from car. It's used as AC radiator.
Then he ask me about the WB. He can build me 1 if i want
So i think, i'm gonna give him a shot.
now I'm put the TT water cooling on the classified. If it sold, i want to use the money to buy a good WB like Dtek / Swiftech (i can't afford Koolance) IF that custom WB not BETTER than TT
If it's better...Then i'm gonna change to E8400/E8500 or i'm gonna change to GTX275/HD4890![]()

I would try 1.5 in bios (with Vdroop/drop- it might result in just 1.45 under load) and what is your FSB term voltage set at ? 3dmark 06 is pretty hard on the CPU, do not underestimate it. Super PI 1MB can ben benched prolly at 4.75 with a high end air cooler and a decent water setup.
I only bench at nite when the ambient is far lower then during the day

FSB term of CPU VTT.
CPU PLL doesn't help much on my wolfdales I usually run around 1.52, CPU VTT with my E7400 at 1.24 (1.26 and more and it becomes erratic in behaviour)
Each CPU is different though so you must test it thoroughly.

Which mobo mate ?

CPU termination voltage ? Try to set 1.24 and see how the CPU and MCH reference voltages change. I usually set first all the stock volts in the Giga's bios and then adjust accordingly. Try MCH reference around 0.740...

I refuse to participate in any debate with creationists because doing so would give them the "oxygen of respectability" that they want.
Creationists don't mind being beaten in an argument. What matters to them is that I give them recognition by bothering to argue with them in public.
I picked up an E7600 at ZZF for about $123 which is about $15-20 cheaper than most other places. I'm just overclocking it to 1333 FSB (3.83GHZ) and it needs about 1.3875v (vDroop takes it down to around 1.33v) as set in the BIOS to run that speed. That's simply using an Intel retail HSF so with better cooling you could probably drop the voltage a notch or two. Very nice chip overall.
