came'n massman, be serious, AM3 is one ot the most hardware ( CPU) dependant and randomly result bench .......... definatly the skill doesn't make any difference if youh have 200 mhz more in the chip, and even modding and cooling the vga to rise the frequency doesn't help a lot ............

It's actually very memory/uncore dependant. Even with high cpu, you can lose if someone hits high mem/imc frequencies. It's a really interesting benchmark for competitions, imho.

1M is not so cool, though, especially since you're gonna work with 950's, which are locked.

Well, AM3 is a pretty random benchmark, so everything will be mobo related. Most cpu's will be limited by the motherboard in this case. And last but not least, AM3 is not really tweakable to my knowledge. Kill some processes is the only "tweak" I know that will get us some extra points....

    I can't wait for Germany!

AQ3 is highly tweakable on nv chipsets, but I don't know if it's true for intel aswell.

AM3 is sompething i called "hardware tweakable". Playing with memory timing and bclk can help you more than software tweaking.
But AM3 could be fun if we had a real skill based benchmarks, like Gorgioprimo said. Something like Spi 8/16/32M...Only 1M and AM3 is not a good choice fur such a contest i think.

BTW, we'll see it in munich, a lot of things can be changed...

MSI Russia decide to send to Germany - Dimdirol and Polymorph . http://overclockers.ru/sitenews/33484.shtml
    I wish them good luck.
Especially for Dimdirol, who let me, DeDaL, pofigist and others to leave his project topmods.net and now I know the reason why he ask us to leave =)

Damn, bad communication at MSI. My contact doesn't even know what benches we are going to do. (hurray for XS) They also don't know the flight details and what hotel we are going to stay.
    Great organisation

Same for us, but he told me that he will gather all the information and send it to me quite soon.

I don't think you need to be 18 to drink beer in Germany. Or maybe it was just my festival visit at Wacken that made me think otherwise...
    I KNOW MASSMAN DISLIKES YOU.

    Hi master overclockers,

Michael here from MSI Europe, since allot of suggestions where given to change benchmarks i would like to propose this,

if we change superpi1m to 32m and leave AM3 would that be a good choice? Since AM3 is a very challenging benchmark (as said by a couple of peepz here on the forum) i think it would be a nice idea to keep this benchmark.

if you have any other questions feel free to ask them, i will keep a watch on this forum and forward the questions to the person responsible for the OC event this year!

I hope we can all have the same good time as we did last year, i will also join the event and be the 'assistant' of the german FAE

nice to see MSI contact everyone direct, welcome to the forum viper_4111

i am not going to be part of European contest so i wont speak for these guys but i just wanted to say it's great that you've decided to change to 32M Superpi as it is definitely more challenging and it takes more system performance than just pure CPU MHz

    should be a good contest

    good luck fellas
