@ Nils ... well, you know it is a PS (Polar Secret) etching technique required to get the bear on the hardhat ...

@BoxGods ... after hanging out in various forums for 5+ years with DB, I'm afraid I've had my eyes burned more than once

While the PSU looks decent, and the process has been a good learning experience, I'm afraid the final product will be a bit iffy. But, you don't learn if you don't try something different. Should have some pics of the PSU in place tomorrow.
Shaz saw me get banZored from NoteBookForums probably four years ago . . .I think the final straw was a pic of a an ATM machine modeled after some female anatomy which will go unnamed. She also knows why I think even the CEO of Alienware knew about my facination with midgets, crisco, and duct tape. Alienware send a roll of duct tape and a can of Crisco with my Alienware ALX order . . .seriously.

Now Geno has seen stuff I will not even post . . .poor fellow. Fortunately Fugger paid me not to post pictures of Movieman in the buff singing Karaoke whilst riding a burro at CES.

Thanks guys. I threw this pic up, cause I thought maybe you needed to see real world stuff - not just the perfection we've seen this week from Charles . Not 100% happy with my PSU mod ... some of the wires coming from the HX620 PSU were all squirrely, but I don't want to change them out til I see if it actually powers up the system. It seems fine on the PSU tester, but ya never know.

Anyhoo ... another big THANKS to BoxGod/aka Geno for the Typhoon III. It's quite a fun little reservoir/pump top. I had a hell of a time figuring out how to bleed it, til I realized I could just pull it out from under the mobo tray, flip it towards me and open the bleed port (I'm not blonde, but perhaps I should be). Burnt the heck out of my fingers trying to get the 7/16" tubing on 1/2" DD fatboy barbs. I do want all you compression fitting haters to take notice that there is not a single BP fitting in this build (well, other than the stop plugs). More to come tomorrow ... now it's tail time in the pool (best way to cope with the heat in the desert )

The PSU wiring looks good in my opinion.... Mine looks like a rat's nest compared to how you've done it on your torture rack.

How's the finally orientation of the TIII going to look?

Just to get a tighter seal ... minimizes the need for clamps, altho I will end up with something on there for the long haul.

Thanks, jpm. The PSU wiring looks better than before, but still need to see if I can tidy it up. I really like the blue MDPC-X sleeving (THANKS again, Nils) - unfortunately, the Torture Rack is not the best place to show it nicely.

Not sure how the TIII will finally end up. Just using one inlet and outlet now, would like to do two, but don't want to have to cross tubing. A quick power up shows identical temps to what I had before with the XSPC/MCP 355. The Typhoon III is very flexible wrt filling/bleeding/draining, and I like the way it holds the D5 pump.

Thanks, rootz0r. I'm taking orders for the safety gear My husband is still laughing at my response to my first dremel experience. I turn it on, cautiously put dremel to metal and then "OH Sh*% there's sparks !!!???#@&^%!!!" Needless to say, I haven't spent much time around Power Tools

(And, resting easier now knowing I have not, at least not YET, managed to kill any innocent hardware in the PSU modding adventure).

Also ... got word today that my replacement 4870x2 is on it's way That was a nice surprise, as I thought I'd have to write off a $500 GPU (albeit $300 at today's prices).

oh shazza i should tell you this.

The HD series video card has a built in sound card for its hdmi out.

In order to use it, you need to activate it windows and select HDMI OUT instead of speaker out.

A lot of people dont know the HD series has a built in realtek sound card so not a lot of people will use it.

But on a HTPC its perfect.

Thanks for the encouragement, guys. I have not abandoned my project ... just off vacationing two weeks in Maine. I'm having withdrawls, as I want to get this project done and on to the next one! Hoping to make progress next week.

***********WARNING********** OFF TOPIC PICS coming - well, they have to do with water and it is very cool (temperature-wise), but nothing to do with computers. Just for fun ...

    I shouldn't have come here.

Why is it that I always feel like a new build when I look at your photos Shazza!

It's a beaut though, your talent with pcs and photography continue to amaze me

One day I shall be at your level of skill. ( Hopefully )
