Thanks, will try that when i get home.

Currently stress testing at stock voltage using Intel Linpack / Burn Test. My chip seems to do about 3.4GHz, trying to see which one is holding me back. I love the fact that we can independently clock cores, coming from the Intel side.

Well everything has been stable at 3.6 for a while, now all of a sudden I've been having daily BSODs. Usually happens overnight so it is sitting there in the morning. Weird...
Are you still sitting at 3.6 Ghz ? Try giving it more CPU-NB voltage. If that doesn't work take out your memories and stick them in slot 3-4. Blue screen is NB/memory controller problem...

How much are CPU NB voltage are you guys seeing is needed for 3.6Ghz+? Factory air cooling of course.

Could be overheating IMC or it needs a small bump in CPUNbvolts. usally when run for long periods of time heat will build in the IMC if using Stock NBvid volts with 3600mhz on the CPU. This will cause the NB to BSOD if its n the edge of stability from heat once its been running for 4 or five hours.

Usually a small bump up in volts is all it takes to eliminate this problem provided your overall temperature is decent.

If you are cranking on the NB with Stock volts and its already hot. Then i suggest lower Nb multi or HTTa few MHZ if heat is a issue. Remeber not enuff volts can also cause heat and unstableness after a long period of time on a single run overnight,,Such as Prime.

    3600mhz with 2000- 2400mhz/nb default volts or 1.1-1.2vnb.

It really all depends how much heat is building and your Rooms Ambiant temp when using the Stock cooler.

I usually run 1.2volts for the CPU/nb regardless when i am runningstock cooler below 2400mhz on the NB. Even @ 4000mhz when Im using water, but stock @ 3600 and Air you should see 1.2v for 2400mhz nb with stock heatpipe.

Remeber Once you go above 3600mhz on the Cpu and start adding NBfreqency and Nbvolts the temps will go up.

My 955 is one of those lame ones but than i also have my NB @ 2600 mhz and it needs 1.33 v for CPU-NB in order to hold 10 hours Prime95 @ 3.72 ghz.

Hi would these work with the GD 70??
    http://www.mushkin.com/doc/products/...ail.asp?id=650

How do you get 1600 to work, since its OC. Got 1GBX4 sticks of this. So would it work fine with this board.

You will raise the HTT/FSb to raise the Ram freqency..Just set correct ram volts/timing and raise the HTT up ..also keep the HT and NB @ stock setting untill you get the ram dialed in.

Once your ram is set Then you can Overclcok the CPUxMore.

I am stuck at 3,7GHz on my Phenom II x3 720BE... I need 1.5v to achieve this stable, and I have really hit a hardwall here, any tips or ideas? I've tried increasing NB volt, and even pushing voltage further, I've loosened my modules speeds and timing so they are running well below specs.

    there´s a 1:4 mem divider.
there´s no need to raise the htt to get 1600 on the ram.
even at stock 200mhz htt u can run ddr3 1600.

I bumped CPU-NB one point. Will see how that goes.

Are slots 3-4 more reliable or just being a different channel might help or ...?

slots 3 and 4 are the same channels A and B as slot 1 and 2.
only difference between 1-2 and 3-4 is the length of the traces to the cpu.
the longer the traces the more electromagnetic interferrences.
so slot 1 and 2 should be a little more stable if u really push ur ram.

Well been running for a while now no BSODs, and actually after checking my WCG results I was having errored units randomly too but those have stopped from the looks of things as well.

    New system stock @3.7

    Hi

Nice thread that helped alot on the overclock settings , thx :-)

Just build a new system and been tweaking for 2 weeks.
Im on water and still stuck at 3.7 MHz. (64 bit win 7)

It seem this CPU really do not like heat !?
when burning with 4 X Prime95 for long time it seems impossible to
run with CPU temp >=~50 Degress Celsius.
(Both memory + NB active cooled by 2x 120mm fans on low speed)

Cant get it 100% stable on 3.8 even with close to 1.5V on CPU (temp>50C)
CPU: Phenom II X4 955 BE

    Motherboard: MSI 790FX-GD70

Power : OCZ ModXStream Pro 700W
    Settings :

So the bump in NB was the difference? Any updates on your stability?

I usually have to say this about ten times a week, but it has been a while since I posted in this thread.

If you are running a 64-bit operating system with the Phenom II, expect your air clocks to top out around 3.8 stable without really pushing the volts, even then, getting to 3.9 is a chore. Very good cooling will get you to 4GHz at best, after that, even LN2, you might hit 4.5 on a chip that will do 6.4 running on a 32-bit OS.

You know what, that's exactly where im stuck too. I think its the Windows 64 bit as bingo13 suggested. The CPU appears that it can't handle more than 3.7Ghz maybe because its loaded more under 64 bit ? Other ppl report higher clocks under XP 32 bits and other 32 bits windows so that might be problem.

On another note, there is this GreenPower button on my mobo, anyone have it ON while overclocked ? lol

that´s the big question... no one with the gd70 seems to own a 550be.

what stepping is ur 550? there is a thread with known good steppings for unlocking.
maybe it´s the cpu that doesn´t allow unlock.
