Ok, so Hipro & GPR fighting against Kingpin and Shamino, or Kinc and Crotale...looks familiar. doesn't it?
This will definately be a very interesting thing to watch, like a 5 months Olympics. Yey!!!

Why don't we just go back in time and give all current OCers a few Celeron 300A and see how they go?

Hello Everyone
This has been a very interesting read.
One point that I PERSONALLY needs to be remembered is mostoverclocking was accomplished on stock hardware when most individuals started and is still what most individuals experience day and day out. (Regardless of whether or not it was done for improvement or for the point of just doing it) The only individuals that know the benefits of ES samples are the overclockers that have received them. I think if this is a true overclocking competition it should be maintained no ES samples are used. I do think that if retail samples are used it should be provided by the CPU manufacturer maybe in conjunction with a trusted reseller.
I think there needs to be adjustment for teams. This produces too much variance in the performance of the overclcoks that can be achieved. I think the best route would be to have a small set of teams that have multiple boards ( 3 boards max ) and there are qualifiers initially for which boards are to be used these also must be retail boards. Once these boards are benchmarked and used the 3 overclocks are averaged and this would be the outcome winner. Then if wanted to could take the highest overclocking board to final round. I feel this would also help in showing the skills and knowledge of the overclocking team in question because multiple boards would have to be used. Additionally If retail samples are used I do think there is any need for limiting the frequency what you can Overclock (shoot for the stars ).
Things across the board need to be standardized meaning the same thing is done for other product such as cooling solutions. If this is not the case you have unfair advantages an example would be what is x LN2 pot performs considerably better than Y pot.
Regardless if a true level of standardization can be brought into play this is what would cause it to be different than any other overclcoking comparison including orb or hwbot. It then becomes a focus on the skill set and experience of the overclocker with a combination of the hardware. Additionally it is important to alos have the three stages of cooling represented and maybe individually in the own rounds due to the fact most overclockers are on air then water and then gas. I think the better way to think of this competition is in the sense of F1 speeds attempting high speeds but with the much bigger focus being on regulation and standardization.
this is good
i'm young
stopped reading on this comment now my opinion is
a real skill competition is one system first person alone on the system other cant see then next one
the winner of the round come into the next one
it have to be exactly the same system only the Hdd can createt by the bencher
a 1vs1
mfg teurorist
little German
What you need to realise is that everyone in every area has thier own agenda meaning what they would like to see happen.
Take it with a grain of salt and not so personally..
If you let these guys get to you, you'll wind up pulling out your hair and slamming your head into a door..
Oh, it's not just young kids who have fun with the hardware, some of us older kids enjoy it just as much as any of the kids do.
Maybe more as we oldsters remember slide rules and are still amazed at the tech advances!![]()

Hi,
Still haven't finalised all teams... but could all confirmed competitors please email me a mugshot of themselves?
It needs to look like this... (please use your own hats!)
Please email them to me here...
Cheers,

Hi,
Quick update on this.
Just waiting on Team Asus now, really.
Have finally heard back from them and they're obviously taking the idea very seriously. Still some work to do. No names been mentioned yet though. Will keep you informed.

Any updates that can be publicly aired at this point Nick?
I have a quick question re cpus for the event. kinda need to know for sure in good time.
we need to know now if ES cpu are ok as we can ask intel/msi to provide them. [not cherry cpus]
If its retail only we will need to contact a third party company to provide sponsorship while we have time.
thanks.
