Just so the record shows, a performance boost do to an IMC tweak that nobody knows about shouldn't affect the difference between frames per second and score for his AM3 post. OPB may know intricate details of in the bowels of the BIOS but the moment he posted a fabricated result it all went down the drain.Originally Posted by kiwi

And who said that similar bios/MCH bar/spd or whatever modifications cant be done? For example, mch editing were popular on 965 to get a boost. But maybe that was not all, maybe there is more. The fact is that many people don't know that. And as far as I know OPB had a good contact with Oscar Wu and we all know who he is
But will stress this again, I am not defending anyone here, just stating that there certainly are more advanced tweaks/changes that can be done.
i'm not much of an extreme overclocker myself, nor do i know the OPB guy, i just love to watch at xtremesystems (pretty much a lurker more than an usually poster here) legends how they push the hell out of their custom systems beyond all limits, but anyone here cared to bear in mind this aquamark could be a bug rather than a fabricated score?
just thinking out loud, don't pay much of attention though as my knowledge at this matter is limited

What I was trying to say is that in general there are must be more advanced tweaks/changes that can be done and (almost) nobody from public knows about them.
That is something I would like to hear from hardware engineers. Probably it needs to go to another thread but then again, I don't think many will have anything to say

For all those who didnt know, this was not just a case of photochopping AM3 results.
its not easy to prove somebody cheated, and unfortunately futuremark didnt spend enough resources on improving their cheat detection... i just hope they will focus more on validation in future
btw, how about cpuz validation? didnt opb exploit a bug in cpuz as well to make his suicide clocks look higher than they actually were? is there any bench he didnt cheat in or exploited bugs?

and yeah, i totally agree... i dont get how people can pat him on the back for chosing to admit the obvious... i mean he was cornered, his only alternative to admitting the cheats would be to vanish and start a new username, and that would have meant to lose most if not all friends/followers and hardware mfc relations... so dont think that he did this cause he finally saw the light and realized what he did was wrong and will be a good guy now etc... no way... he did a 180 degree right there within the minute he was proven to have cheated, from IM A BENCHING GOD, KNEE BEFORE ME, to ohhhh im a sinner! forgive me! ill be a righteous man from now on!

i know several people who have good contacts with oskar wu, and? hes a great guy and very very knowledgeable and probably the no1 candidate to be called a mainboard engineering genious, but so what? people seem to think there is some magic in all this, that there is something unknown and adventerous lurking in the dark of technology they dont understand... but there isnt! yes there are many ways to tweak performance, but if opb got his tweaking skills from oskar then how come dfi's bios isnt the fastest in several benchmarks and their boards dont clock the highest in several benchmarks? if opb got the best results cause of hints from oskar wu, then how come oskar wu couldnt use his knowledge to tweak his own dfi bioses and people would break world records left and right on dfi boards?But maybe that was not all, maybe there is more. yeah, sure there are, im not denying that...
BUT, my point is, what makes you think OPB knows some amazing tweaks that get him ahead of everybody else?
so far everybody could say he was ahead cause of tweaks, even though most people felt his results were fishy at best... but now that he has been proven to cheat, in several benchmarks, and even admitted it... how can you still believe that he knows some special tweaks which gave him the edge?
if he really HAD and HAS such amazing tweaks that give him a big boost, then why did he cheat?
that plus the fact that in the past 5years or so of suspicious results from him NOBODY being able to reproduce ANY of his supposedly dozens of tweaks makes it pretty obvious that while those tweaks are possible, he certainly doesnt have them.
think of it the other way around, you spend most of your life to compete with other people to show off the products of your company, which depends on good results to sell their products well, yet you cant reach higher results than others out there... so you start to cheat, a little first, only when necessary... but its tempting so you go on and go on... but people notice there is something weird about your results, so what do you tell them?
its a special tweak...
what else could you actually say besides that?
and maybe it wasnt even his idea and just somebody who admired him came up with it defending him and said the same thing you just said, "maybe its a special tweak" or "im sure he knows so much about hardware that he knows special tweaks" etc...
if anybody still thinks opb knows some mega special ultra tweaks, his logic unit is malfunctioning

Submissions to ORB are pretty much anon, you can recreate an account no prob, very hard to moderate. Same for HWbot too;why isnt he banned, let alone lifetime banned like on the orb though? so basically if you cheat and get caught, the scores are removed and thats it? i can just do it again and hope it lasts this time?

And to say again to some who aren't reading the whole thread the Aquamark3 scoring is 1000 times your average frame rate and OPB was not. It is that simple so please look at the pictures HWBot posted and up near the top right you see the average frames per second, then look at his score. This isn't rrocket science guys, it's simple and staring you in the face.

being curious i have been digging extensely through a large bunch of results in the hwbot rankings and definitely this is the only one in which avg FPS mismatch with the final score, but looking at the top scores i wonder why should he wanted to generate an score if he had the hardware capable to perform that score anyway?
i myself compared the currently WR which holds Andre Yang, and it's a whooping 400k (insane man) but then i look close at the speed clocks shown in the screenshot and i realize those are pretty similar to what the Onepagebook dude had, i'm trying to come at why should you want to fabricate a score when you can come up with it straight off the shelf?
also, if he used a wireframe hack or some kind of exploid to undeliberately fake the FPS why the score is "within the clocks" , if you look at Andre's score you realize it's pretty much a doable score for the clocks, so what i try to come up is OPB's score should have been like 405k or 410k with a timeframe hacking tool
or are we talking about photoshoping here? and if that's the case why the man didn't care to do it right and match the avg FPS with the final score, and again, why photoshoping a score you can have easily coming off the shelf with a capable setup
in any case if the guy's been caught cheating he's well excluded from the competition, damn i would ship him out just for being that dumb at faking the score
The answer is simple : Having the fastest hardware and highest clocks doesn't automatically guarantee the highest score. He may be good at SPi and clock twist arounds, transaction boosters and clock overcharges but he can't bench 3D foror so it would seem. Just a guess. If you had what it takes to produce the highest score why would you wanna resort to using cheap hacks? Come on dude, it writes itself.
If i had to guess i'd say most of his scores if not all aren't legit - he got sloppy this time and forgot to "edit" the avg fps.

that's exactly my point here, what i'm trying to figure out is what was the let's call it illegal trick he used which caused the mismatch, what i fail to understand is why the score wasn't out of bounds and it was indeed in the speed clock range he was at
doesn't the aquamark generate a html file which would tell the real FPS? did he provide that to the hwbot crew? this would rule out the photoshop in case the html file says it was indeed 397k, or it'd finally confirm the image was edited if shows the 392k one
anyway either one or another leads me to think it could've been a bug cause it doesn't make any sense for me otherwise
