I have a problem...
atm it SEEMS liek this chip WOULD be a good OCer.... atm its running stable at 1.38v at 3.2 ...... BUT under load from occt or Prime etc.. it can go down to 1.28!!!!! thats a whole 0.1v vdroop!!!
weird the vid is at 1.325 when its stable at this speed at 1.28v... but It's frigging annoying... is the only thing to do is get a better mobo with better voltage i guess??

My cpu or power supply is bad for OC
When I set my voltage to 1.51 at bios, and make 100% on all cores, clocks 3840 Mhz, computer shuts down.

I discovered that PWM temp are getting a way in this overclock.
If I don't manage to keep it under 100C computer crashes or shuts down.
But, here is 3680 Mhz at 1.45V (Vdroop to 1.37V)

Hey, I'm trying to get my q6600 stable @ 4ghz
I had it stable at 3.825 ghz @ 425*9, but taking it to 445*9 caused instability.
So.. I raised vcore. I start up prime95, my temps look fine, and then ight when prime95 starts its work thread My pc loses power and restarts.
I never had that happen. So I went back to my 3.825 stable settings. Then ran prime. It was fine.
So I trid raising the fsb terminaton voltage and the NB voltage. Nothing, still just powers down and restarts... but out of curisoity I booted back up and ran 3dmark06. It ran fine. Then I went and test out some cs:s.... it ran so normal that I forgot and ended up playing for a few hours
So does anyone have any suggestions? I have reason to believe raising the vcore won't help any.

Try IntelBurnTest (link in my sig). It should tell you if your chip is truly stable or not in a very short amount of time.

In that situation it wouldn't be very helpful finding solution to that instability problem. IntelBurnTest or LinX causes instant restart if VTT/GTL is not set right. I have not yet figured a way to solve it.
Now running one core at a time with my X3210, Prime95 has been stable running Small FFTs on core0, core1 and core2, next I run core3 to find out which core is crapping out.
CPU is now 3.8 GHz with vcore of 1.41V (load)

Theintel burntest is kind of stupid imo, If you can run prime 95 for 12 hours without issue but can't run the IBT for a min... do you really need it THAT stable? But some people need/like there stability. I like a bit of speed over full stability :P
Should I test my q6600 one core at a time? I never heard of anyone disabling cores just for finding stability.
Last night I kind of gave up and went down to 3.87ghz. It has to do with my FSB.... I am sure. Snipe dogg told me inbetween cs:s scrims last night that the x38's hits an fsb wall around were I am at. I would consider grabbing a p45 mobo somewhere but meh.... Not worth the hassle for a few mhz when I am looking forward to i7 or am3 eventually.

i had mine stable at 3.8mhz not anymore since i went to windows 7 x64 its no longer stable weird but true now im at 3.5mhz not sure why and what im doing wrongoh well going to go amd 3 soon i think
64bit stable is harder than 32bit stable, not sure why.

Yeah, have you tried upping the vNB?
The more RAM you have the greater the strain on the NB, so that may help.
Atleast, I think 64buit is harder to get stable, im sure ive seen/heard it.......

I have a L804A490 VID 1.225V. Today is running at 400x8, 1.18±0.01v on load, 1.22 idle, 1.25v BIOS, stable.
I have tried to run at 3.6 but no sucess up to 1.36v, +0.05v FSB,+0.05 MCH, loadline. On AUTO it goes to 1.54v. Bumping more voltage will increase heat too much. After ~3.3 it starts to ask too much voltage.
What could i do? My mobo is a ex38 gigabyte. I heard about GTL ref but no idea. Any magic solutions, lol,?

Guys, I NEED your help to squeeze the very last piece of MHz of my Q6600.It is a very good sample, known to do 4150 MHz on water and 4350 on gas cooling, I have only the ultimate HSF champion from Thermalright-the ULTRA 120-E, with 2 x SSFLEX 120mm.Asus P5E X38 with Rampage formula latest BIOS, 2 x 1 GB Transcend aXe RAM @ Micron D9GMH chips.1kw CWT HX1000W PSU from Corsair, open case, etc.There`s going to be an Overclocking and modding gurus OC championship in Bulgaria, and I hope to be among the middle in the final score, as I stand no chance in the benchmarks vs any Core i7 on air cooling...I managed to make... 3, 95 GHz 1,68 V Prime BLEND stable in one cold night (the rules of the championship require passing 20min Prime BLEND test before starting), and never managed to make even 3,88 Ghz on the other day...My PC was illegally seized by RIAA-like local ****, I work no more in the IT industry, prior to a far better job, I admit losing many of my previous OC skills...Even so, this is the ultimate best hardware/OC forum worldwide, I hope not to laugh @ me or let me down...So, my STRANGE settings on my even stranger MB are:
DISABLED: Dram stating read control, C1E, CPU and PCI-E spread spectrum, CPU TM function, Vanderpool technology, Execute disable bit, Max CPUID value limit (WTF is this...)

On AUTO, since the MB is so strange, I wasn`t able to make stable not one configuration...

MANUAL: CPU RATION-9x, FSB strap to NB=400, FSB @ 439, PCI-E @ 101, DDR2 @ 1170 MHz 5-5-5-18 (with a low cpu multi-no problem at 1200MHz @ 5-5-5-15), DRAM command rate- 2N, all fans @ maximum speed from bios.

today im going to push my Q6600 as far as i can... 1.28v on mine right now at 3GHz, im sure it can go WAY lower as at stock speeds i was running at like 1.14 or something crazy when i was screwing around with it... 3.2 will be no problem, 3.6Ghz will be where i think i'll have issues.

Why I get restarts/reboots (black screen and power reset) when I run CPU intensive application like LinX or Prime95 100% all 4 cores,
when I set CPU vcore over 1.41V in bios, like 1.43V
All other settings are defaults, this happens when cpu is 2.13 GHz and 3.6 GHz too
components are:

wow, i deff dont have that problem, mine are watercooled lol...
right now im coming up on 1hr prime stable which is more than i seriously think i'll ever need and hottest core is 56C in a slightly warm room

idk if my system is prime stable or not but its been running WCG for 2 days strait now @ 3.6GHz vcore is down at 1.488 underload, set to 1.57 in bios, temps hover at 60-61* and im also letting F@H GPU run on my overclocked 9600GT...
im curious to see if it will do 4GHz but im not sure as to how much voltage is "safe" to jam into it.
