I installed 12GB (6x2GB) of DDR3-1600 Corsair and I manually set the DDR3 speed to DDR-1600. CPUID says my memory is running at 9-9-9-24 2T timings @ 1.69v. I know on the packaging it says 1.65v. Am i ok to run it as is or should i lower the voltage? Also, since it is on AUTO in the BIOS, it has it running at the above mentioned timings, should I manually change them to 8-8-8-24 like it has on the packaging?

When using CPUID to measure the voltages, the DRAM voltage stays at 1.69v and VIN3 was at 1.57v.

When I did not use the XMP settings, set the DDR Frequency manually by selecting DDR3-1600, and I chose the Dram Bus voltage to be 1.64, the only thing that changed was the VIN3 in CPUID. DRAM still said 1.69v. It now registers 1.61v. So should I be using the VIN3 to determine what voltage is going to my ram? Is there another program i should use? My Bios doesn't tell me what the current voltage of the ram is.

XMP profile settings set the DRAM Bus Voltage to 1.66v and the QPI/Dram Voltage to 1.35v. I know the Dram Bus voltage is not recommended but what about the QPI voltage setting?

Well my fan headers 2& 3 are malfunctioning. I replaced the fans and they stop after a while (Q-fan disabled). I am going to seek a RMA from ASUS with an advanced replacement. I plan to keep this board for more than a year. I will tell you how they treat me.

Well soon the LGA-1156 will be out in many flavors. I am sure some will be fantastic OverClockers and the i7 will step back for the new socket.
I think we were Intel test subjects for the Nehalem Xeon. But that is fine with me, because I like the i7.

As for ASUS, they are still putting out bios for my P5B-D (965-P).

Throttling still happening at anything above 4.3ghz

SHAFT Brazil: Did you notice if RealTemp reported your multiplier steady at 21.0 while testing? Your core voltage is nice and low so that isn't likely to cause any Turbo throttling but with a Maximum core temperature of 80C, you are right on the edge of Turbo throttling starting to happen due to heat. With your present settings combined with a higher stress program like LinX, your temps would go up and I'm pretty sure your multi would start to throttle down to 20.0.

In normal usage, this will probably never be an issue for you. Nice OC at low volts.

Thanks man xD This D0 is nice

Any time of Prime95 the mult drop of 21x and a i run LinX but didint show any drop of mult during the test..and the temp gets like 84c-85c.

Maybe you guys can help me. I got a P6T vanilla, And a I7 920 D0 that is proven to be stable at 4.0ghz @ 1.20 vcore.

I cant get anywhere stable with 1.20 vcore. The settings I am using to get some what stable is.

    20x200 ratio/bclck
    1.256 vcore
    1.300 QPI/DRAM
    1.64 Dram.

and the rest on auto. Can anyone help me get a OC with less volts?

You can try to change the multiplier to 21x and maybe you need to raise QPI/DRAM volts a bit.

does my chip just suck or what?
    I tried 3.6GHz 18 * 200 with 1.3v
    everything else at stock
overnight with linx and I wake up and the computer has restarted

    1.25v = instant BSOD
1.275v = screen freeze in windows

I called and I can gt a RMA no problem. The tech told me to do a jumper clear of the bios. I was not that in a rush to do it because of the difficulty reaching the jumper. I did it with no success. But, two days later the fans starting working again.

But, the fans are running at a RPM over spec ????

I purchased new fans for testing

Can someone explain QPI voltage and DRAM voltage under these circumstances:

    I have 12GB of Corsair DDR3-1600 CAS8. Label says 1.65v

If I set the DRAM frequency to DDR3-1333 and everything else on AUTO, I get the following measurements using TurboV:

    QPI/DRAM Core Volt = 1.20000v
    DRAM Bus Voltage = 1.66v

If I manually set the DRAM bus voltage to 1.5v it reports 1.5v

If I want to run the RAM at DDR3-1600, I set the frequency to DDR3-1600 and leave everything else on AUTO, I get the following from TurboV:

    QPI/DRAM Core Volt = 1.37500v
    DRAM Bus Voltage = 1.66v

I can manually set the DRAM to 1.64v and it will report 1.64v but if I try to lower the QPI/DRAM Core Voltage to 1.2v, it fails to boot.

I am worried that the mobo is over-volting the QPI/DRAM Core Volt setting. What are 'safe' voltages if i want to run it at DDR3-1600? Can anyone recommend safe settings?

    Thank you

    Been in contact with Asus via email regarding the turbo throttling issue on P6T-D boards. After a few backward and foward correspondence this is what they have finally come up with;

Our BIOS RD will look into this issue.
    Will keep you posted.

Now lets see if anything eventuates from this.

Maybe you guys at XS that push your hardware to the limit and a little beyond and new software like i7 Turbo to monitor this issue has lit a fire under their a-s-s.
Let's hope. I was expecting to find more motherboards with this issue but so far only the Asus P6T series doesn't give users any control over TDP/TDC based Turbo throttling.

Got rid of this board and got EVGA X58 SLI. I am running 4,4Ghz with HT ON stable and no turbo throttling. Good riddance Asus!

Sem I think in the newer BIOS' the turbo option was removed and you just manually put in a 21x multiplier.

devsk I'm looking to do the same shortly

Get your feet back on the ground!

    Hi,

I've been following this for a while now and posted earlier about crossflashing this board.

Seriously...STOP complaining about the silly multiplier throttling issue.

Even more nasty is to piss at ASUS for fixing mass storage issues instead. What's more important, your big GHz balls or data safety?! You are trading your data for 100 MHz extra? That's ridiculous, even if YOUR PC isn't affected. Many others might and it's not just about YOUR MHZ.

Overclocks beyond 4 GHz are mostly silly anyway, because 45 nm Intel chips do not scale past 4 GHz anymore. They just suck an enormous extra amount of power for little speed improvement. Just look at the articles on this at Anandtech if you CARE getting informed.

    Get REAL people!

    <sigh>

PS: If you're getting your will, what's next? You're getting a new board to get even more MHz!

Apparently you have forgotten the name of this website-Xtremesystems. Most people here are total enthusiasts who enjoy extracting every last ounce of speed from their rigs.

If you have nothing constructive to add then please don't post such irrelevant and condescending drivel. Believe me, your diatribe fell on deaf and uncaring ears.

Wrong website? I think you wanted to go to stockclock.net....

I don't know what about Anandtech article, but I can measure difference between 4Ghz and 4.4Ghz. And its enough for me to run 4.4Ghz. And hyperthreaded!
