    I think you are right.
If it is true that new i5 processors will have same performances than i7, clock by clock, counting that the MB for i5 will be at least 100 US$ less in price, I feel that in fall our MB will be jurassic.

You think that is over of r2e ?
Someone that claimed to be an ASUS Technical Marketing Specialist rep. on [H] say the EOL rumor is false, but i dont know what to belive.

However i would not buy this board without test it to make sure the coldbootissue are solved or present with a perticular setup. That is a anoying feature(among other things) my board has with my specific setup with any BIOS or PSU and make me turn to another brand and board before that limited edition one is out of stock from my prefered retailer.

If you want a B3 then EVGA X58 LE is said to be a B3 revison but that board has its limitations as the name of it say..

I heard that this problem with coldboot is over. And now everything works fine on asus rampage 2 extreme. About evga ... yes she have b3 chipset but how about OC etc. - for now that is one big "mistery"

might as well use an aftermarket heatsink... if you ever wind up having to rma the board, asus will charge you for the damage to the heatsink, that will probably be more than a new one would've cost you.

Not true, for me at least. I sent mine back WITHOUT the heatsink as I was using a WC block and they had nothing to say...

It's impossible to check unless you take off the heatsink of the IOH or have a board working loaded with Windows and you can use CPU-Z to get the info.

I still see no reason what-so-ever to use a screwdriver on the northbridge heatsink. As all you have to do is use the pci-e sound card in the last pci-e slot at the bottom of the board. Because it still will only do 8x so i rather have a working sound card in that slot then a 8x card being choked to 8x.

So you ruined a heatsink for no reason at all....lol

    Good Day

Somebody from a german forum went mad when he got his RIIE back from rma and the third ram slot still has not been fixed.

    Here is the result:

What you think - Asus will take it for RMA again ?

I just got the same soundcard but my gfx is watercooled and the block dosent cover the pcie slot that is over the card,
can I use the soundcard in that one? then I dont have the bend the fins on the NB heatsink.
I tried installing the orginal soundcard there that comes with the card but that resulted in no sound why?(the drivers dident find the card either),
Is it only the black slot that can handle soundcards or what?

I had my Titanium in the lowest PCIe 16x slot when i only had 2 GFX:s so no PCIe soundcard can fit in any PCIe slot. Never even tried the soundcard that comes with the board tho.

Well as you can see http://img31.imageshack.us/img31/203...rafia0179u.jpg Titanium card in the last slot could affect my air-flow to VGA cards.... so that's the main reason why i damaged that heatsink.

Most (if not all) x58 boards have this problem until you bump up PCI-E Frequency to at least 110 or higher. That enables you to go over the 222 bclk, which means it's not the problem with the CPU, but of the board.
