I'm down OVERCLOCKER!!! Really glad someone stepped up and got the ball rolling on something like this. I think with a tweak or two here or there and a few runs through, we can have something really cool here.
Does there really have to be both 32m and 8m?? One is boring enough.
How about you lose 32m and replace it with 3dmark 2001...seriously![]()
This looks very exciting
I guess no sponsor means you pretty much are out tho...
there is very little point you and shamino bothering to enter results
as you will destroy the other manufactures products with evga
you will both make asus, dfi, msi look like toy makers
Team EVGA – k|ngp|n – Shamino 1st every week every month every year
2nd place one of the below
Team Asus – Kinc – TBC
Team Gigabyte – Hicookie – TBC
Team Biostar – pt1t – Bobelmagnifique
Team DFI – Andre Yang – TBC
Team MSI – Miahallen – TBC
i am sure the other manufactures will get used to coming second

I KNOW MASSMAN DISLIKES YOU.
Competition ranking: Better than the danes in everything I've ever entered.Originally Posted by saaya

Hi mate, Sorry - you're name was down because I asked Asus at Computex who they wanted and they said you. I've been trying to contact you since. I'll have a word off thread...
Hi mate, As I said to Baz. It's not about strength of competition for the guest teams... it's only about number of Extreme followers. we were actively talked out of having a team UK team for this by the industry because there simply aren't many people in the UK who care about extreme overclocking... purely compared to the other countries selected. That's all. It's only for season one. And this has to be VERY different to existing HWBot competitions or it will seriously diminish them.
You're right about France and Germany.. however, the Tricolor and er, German Flag, will be flown by Team Biostar and Team tom's Hardware. It could well be that Benchtec will be Team MSI at this point.
Nothing is concrete yet. But we had to be pretty Dictator-like in this process because it needs to be ultra commercial. Not about which HWBot teams are the best.
That will happen with season two which will be longer. This is only a test season using teams which are industry friendly to get as much backing as possible... down the line.
Hey, ideally we'll be flying overclockers around the world and have Multiple class comps at places like Monaco. Even a demolition derby class
We'll crawl before we can walk but this is all about promoting the crap out of overclockers and overclocking.
I've been asking in the background about this. There was a slot for a Scandinavian Team and Team Asus would probably have two Scandinavians in it too. I'm assuming Sweden will be represented there.
The Global Motherboard Product Managers personally beg to differ. Also, any team can use any kit. FYI - talking to Shamino, he was openly saying that for some benchmarks he'd want to use a Rampage II Extreme!
Also, have you seen Asus' new MARS cards?
Finally, I'm not making a penny from this. I'd hope to down the line, but if I do, then so will the competitors, XS and HWBot. I'd love to have football-stlye transfer fees and contracts happening for the best guys.
I fully agree with this but was again talked down... at least for season 1. It's supposed to be all about pushing the limits of new hardware performance, and as much as we all love 3DM01, lots of manufacturers can't see the point. I'm certain it will be in season two.
Glad you're stoked. Jacob was mentioning you were keen!

KP there was lots of discussion with Nick about 3DMARK2001 in there but i guess it wont happen for now due to other factors he mentioned
SuperPi FTW though hahah
would be nice for ppl to see the end product but it's hard to convey this over a forum i guess Nick......keep it up.....i'm sure you will shake out this comp into a structure we will all be reasonable happy with.....
hoping it wont be too time consuming cause some bastard divorce lawyer will have a field day in Sydney![]()
I wish you guys good luck with this venture. Extreme overclocking is turning uglier and uglier by the day. Something like this could give it a new beginning or destroy it utterly. (Not that it isn't pretty much wrecked already) On the one hand it sounds cool but on the other hand the implications are pretty scary.
But the "good ol' days" are long gone anyways.
there have been many people talking about it and wanting to do it, but in the end it always failed because of the lack of control of remotely submitted results...
its great you guys are trying to make it work though, good luck... its really not easy...
especially with all the intel and amd handpicked special non retail silicon and some people having access to dozen of pieces of the same hardware to handpick...
a few more things...
1. Francois has promised no more super cherry picked cpus for anyone.
2. Miah is doing some work with Gigabyte now meaning he's in the running for team USA.
3. Team MSI is totally open again. Obvious choice seems to be Benchtec. Though Deanzo is also interested. I think having two top brit drivers working closely, and who already use MSI would slay several dozen birds with one stone in the light of what's been said. thoughts?

im not sure what to think of ocing as a professional sport tbh... right now its messing up the hobby, fun, diy ocing community, so if creating a formula1 means that stops and there will be a propper fun communty again where its not about who has more money, the best relations, some secret tweak or some other shady bs like that, then im all in favour of it!
sorry to dissapoint you, but that doesnt mean much... provided thats true, and he doesnt even provide charles with handpicked cpus anymore, which i find hard to believe, then that doesnt mean there wont be any handpicked intel cpus anymore. there are at least 4 sources for internally by intel handpicked cpus that i know of... and im sure there are even more... and the only way to really cut off the flow of manufacturer binned super chips is if the mfc himself makes sure that nobody is binning above the comercial bin1 anymore... and thats something i dont see happening... especially if this formula1 thing kicks off, thats only going to make it more tempting for amd and intel to seed super binned chips...
the only way i can think of to stop this is to set a clockspeed limit of 5ghz... but that at least partially defeats the idea of the ocing fomrula1... if youd ask me, id say go for both, categories with locked clockspeeds and one unlimited category...

Saaya might as well limit GPU clocks too if you are limiting CPU clocks.
If I was on team Intel, does that mean my sponsor could not provide me a chip?![]()

giorgioprimo is a friend. Considering the limits on teams it was considered silly to have both Team Greece and Team Italy. I'm hoping we see him in one of the manufacturer teams.
Also, check your PMs... Team MSI is going to be two of you, baz and Deanzo. If you don't mind. Of course Benchtec could have said much of all this off list without having to bag absolutely everything (sacha, you've not been as bad as the others, mate).
And stop with the conspiracy theories!
Tell me that the list isn't a good stab at getting the best/most popular international overclockers onboard.
I've had a few disappointed people off-list agreeing with the choices and saying they'll be there for season two.
It's just Benchtec complaining so much. It's not a good look.
... overclocking![]()
Hey, just a thought; how about having one alternate per team? Lord knows people dont always have time for everything and it would be good for some teams. like for example if there was an event based on AMD then Chew* could be an alternate on team USA and provide his expertise there.
Love the idea and I know well all enjoy it as spectators/aspiring clockers.
