Good to hear.
I do like my Thermaltake Toughpower 700 Watt modular. That thing been holding strong for almost 5 years now. The only thing I hate about it is don't loose your unused cables since Thermaltake doesn't seem to sell replacements.
Yea that does seem weird to me. Is it still under warranty? If its not, maybe take the cover off and see if you can't find what got fried.

well shazza, even if this build takes a while. We'll all be here supporting you. You've done a great job. And the people who don't mess up things, its because they don't dare to do the things you doKeep up the great work.

Just as a side note, I tried testing my Corsair 1000's sleeving on my Corsair 620, and it didn't work, which caused me to go back and rethink and repin it and resleeve it and spend all day faffing around with it. Only to find that corsair 1000 wires don't work in the corsair 620. WTF!
Thanks for the condolences all. But ... life is good. And I don't worry about sharing the mistakes along the way, no sense in giving you the uncensored version.
Resisting the urge to follow NaeKuh's guidance, I did go ahead and switch my EK water block to the back-up 4870x2. I wasn't sure this card worked because it was while installing it that I killed my Rampage Extreme.
After hooking up the card and loop ... and bleeding the line/leak testing ... happy to report that I do have a once again working system
I jetted down to my local Fry's today and picked up the Antec Signature 850W PSU - it's beautiful. Not 100% modular, but I decided that my little experiment with all modular was not such a wonderful idea (cheaters never prosper, my mother said). Now all my components seem to be happy.
Don't be sad for my lossI've been at this a few years, and this is the first video card I've lost. Motherboards are my usual victim.
I know a work log with no pics is boring ... but if I posted a pic of my work area now, I'd shatter any thoughts you might have that I am a neat & tidy ol' lady worker. Instead ... just imagine this is me:

shazza pull the EK block off the card, and see if its the EK block shorting the card out.
Remember CD had that problem. This is why i warned so many people about this big EK flaw.

I already pulled the block off the card ... had to, to install it on the other one.
I can't see any evidence of a short ... in fact, the smoking card looks fine ... so I don't think it's the block. I'll look at it closer tomorrow.

Oops ... missed the request to take a photo of the dead card ... will see if I can do that tomorrow.
Didn't get much done today (post-homicide depression, I think). I did dismantle the cabling from the DA750. Here's my attempt at sleeving ... had everything but the 8-Pin EPS cable done, as I was awaiting heat shrink.
From left to right, 1) PCI-E 6 pin, 2) PCI-E 8 pin, 3) Sata, 4) 4-pin Molex, and 5) 24-pin ATX.
(Note ... sleeving is a little more of an aquamarine color than is showing on my monitor)
So now, since there is apparently no more of the MDPC-X blue sleeving in the USA, I must strip these if I want to do the new PSU cables in blue ... still mulling it over.

shazza that is beautiful. I really like that color for sleeving![]()

Nils! Where is my email?
Shaz, that sleeving was so beautiful, such a shame to dismantle itWhere did you get those beautiful blue plugs, they look fantastic, especially the SATA connectors, just brilliant!
