I'll post pics of it when I get my camera back tomorow. It does take up 3 slots. Idle temps:

The one odd thing is that when you plug in the 8 pin adapter and the 6 pin the ends of those extenders are both 6 pin. Card works fine without issue but still.

The pin numbers sound a bit odd but damn, those temps are impressive. And the sound!

    Thanks for posting some numbers

You can oc more but I was looking for quietness more then anything. Temps haven't broken 50c in any game I tried, even at only 60% fan speed.

Will you still be able to use Catalyst's auto fan speed? Or will you have to set it manually?

You can use auto. Although you really don't need much more then 60% and 60% is inaudible (and so is 80%). Seriously I use noctua quiet fans (1200rpm) and this thing is as quiet as them.

Just ordered mine today from SuperBiz.com for 52 shipped, which is a good deal. So I am hoping it will let me overclock some more and get some more Vantage points, maybe let me break the 20000 point barrier, I need another 1500 points to do it.

Can you tell me if it takes 2 slots when you mount it on the VGA card like the stock cooler or do you need to have more space?

60% and still quiet? That's great since I start to hear noise with the original fan at 40% already. Is it really worth the purchase in your opinion? And btw it would be nice if you post some pix.

Those temps and the sound level are pretty impressive. I'm using Noctua's at 5-7v so I was able to hear my 4870x2 at anything above idle. I'm a bit sad its 3 slots though. I have the room but I fear what will become of my prelude with those 3 fans dumping all that heat onto it.

nsegative have you found your case temps to increase much? ( and i suppose this has alot to do with the size / layout and fan setup ) I'm a tad worried with my TJ07.

Thing is I'm using a reverse atx cm stacker T01. So the fans of the gpu are blowing upwards where there is no hardware but two exhaust fans. Thus my case temp didn't increase a bit (and another thing, even ingame if I put my arm over the fans the air its blowing out is actually relatively cool.

Heck I can even use 100% and it's quieter then stock 35%.

Hey nsegative can we get some picture love please

I am surprised at the efficiency though. What thermal poop did you use?

EDIT: why not run OCCT or furmark to see how high you can get the temps

Wow gotta give it up for Arctic Cooling they make the best VGA coolers and make it so you don't really need water cooling if you get there xtreme versions.

i hope this thing has a future, its almost too late for 4870x2s but remaking for future cards could be great if people dont mind the space it takes up

I still wish these would have been out closer to launch. It would have made my build all the better. I wouldn't have even considered water at the time as other than the fact these take up 3 slots, they appear to run as well and likely just as quiet as most water setups

I think the only advantage water has is lower vrm temps. Maybe I am wrong, but I sure hope not.

Just take the fans off and put a 120mm fan on the side of the card... should be similar temps still and only use 2 slots.

All along the watchtower the watchmen watch the eternal return.
