i have the ASUS P6T-Dlx and both the eVGA X58 Vanilla and classified.

The eVGA Vanilla fan is not loud. And the board stays a lot cooler then the ASUS P6T because the mosfets arent intigrated into the stock heat sink.

So whoever told you that the eVGA board was hotter then the ASUS didnt know what he was talking about.

Also the ASUS gets hot under load, and high end oc. (once again because of the connecting mosfets).

There both great boards tho, however im kinda tired of the asus.

My favorate right now is my classified.

    Miyuki: W3580 6GB DDR3 P6T-Dlx

I had Asus P6T V2 and no problems with high temps anywhere on the board. My eVGA X58 SLI vanilla his a bit hot @load but nothing special, but higher then the P6T V2. I use WC in all my systems.

My last 3 boards in this order: Gigabyte X58 Xtreme, Asus P6T V2 and now eVGA X58 SLI.

My preference goes to eVGA, but Gigabyte Xtreme is a strong and great board.

I'm also tired of Asus and there 'buggy' boards.

    Nah trust bro.

The eVGA will run cooler if anything because the mosfets arent connected directly to the nb heat pipe.

The mosfets is what really cooks on the board when your processor is loaded.

    My P6T-Dlx

Pifft.. the classified is much smaller then you guys think. When they brought it out, they made it sound like it was a full blown server EATX.

i think that proves i owned the 2 boards being heavy debated on.
The fan really isnt that loud. I dont quite get the person who said it was loud when most likely your cpu fan will be louder.

    If you have the budget:

^ get that and dont look back.

Otherwise id go for the giggy X58-extreme and then it would be a tossup between the vanilla evga and p6T.

But i heard asus has turbo throttling so you guys better be weary of that.

The board is stone cold No problem run only air cooled, I`m cooling xeon with Megahalems. Install for my hybrid silent-pipe 2 and leave waterblock, work cold. Only bad thing in this board is a vdroop, but there pencil mod:

seems P6T Deluxe V1 could run high BCLK's using extreme cooling.... I just realized when i tested with dry ice...
Before that running only with air cooling stuck at BCLK 206 for 3d bench and 217 suicide... hopeless and just wanna sell it..
    But when i cooled the cpu ... run spi4m @228bclk's and 226 3D
    here spi4m SS..

p6t dlx v2 with odd mouse lag and 3dmark vantage cpu test oddity

running a brand new p6t dlx v2. Did a everest stability test and experienced instant serious mouse lag. Flashed to the latest 502 bios already. BTW the temps before burn in with an arctic cooler extreme was around 70-75 load.

Additionally in 3dmark vantage ran today on my system, p5b deluxe with oc e6600 3.2g and this I7 920 p6t deluxe v2 I see something strange hopefully someone can point me in the right direction

    e6600 (oc: 3.2g) w/ p5b deluxe 3dmark vantage-
    cpu test 1 - 759.96
    cpu test 2 - 78.64

    I7 920 (stock) w/ P6t Deluxe v2 3dmark vantage-
    cpu test 1 - 2452.46
cpu test 2 - 22.29 ***notice the e6600 is WAY higher??

The final scores for cpu from 3dmark vantage are:
    e6600 - 20357
    I7 920 - 17473

    what is going on here?

Unless you're using one of the very, very few programs that can utilize 8 threads, I don't think it's worth keeping on. I can lower my voltage and to quote Kevin Bacon in Animal House "All is well!".

    Question:

Is it NOT recommended to run 12GB of DDR3-1600 on any X58 mobo due to 'instability' ? Is it better to run either DDR3-1600 at DDR3-1333 settings or is it just better to buy DDR3-1333?
    Not a Dell.

    Hi
I have OCZ Blade DDR3 run at 1650MHz cas 7 at 1.68 volt to get it stable!.
and QPI at 1.26Volt, it's on the limit of 0.5 volt

is it bad to set that volt for the ram or the cpu?

I'm running 12GB of OCZ Platinum and it does not affect my OC in any form or way other than the proc is running about ~1C hotter. Having only 6GB did not yield any gain for me, infact...12GB no problem with the following speed and timing so I'd say get the 1600+:

Anyone have this problem on the V2 board. After a incomplete OC attempt it will give me a blank screen, so I have to do a hard reboot then when I try to do another OC attempt it does the same thing. So I put back the OC setting I had stable and no reboot. Is there a secret to a bad OC attempt that I have to go thru without having to clear cmos and redo my raid -0- every time? My V1 board I never had this problem starting to get frustrated with the board. I am running the newest BIOS V2 has out..

    Thanks

agree with you. tried even using (4x2gb ram) (5x2gb ram) and (5x2gb and 1gb) and even they are not same spec.
This D0 rock man. even only at this but compare with my old 965ES and 920 C0......

    @chuckbam thx for the link.

What is up with Asus keep rolling out new BIOS with all those BS updates, they really need to pull their head out of the sand and fix the dang multiplier throttling nonsense!

4.51Ghz is a very hi OC. What makes you think other boards do not have throttling at that MHz. I have not seen anyone else clock that hi. I have a Noctua NH-U12P and don't think it could cool that speed. I think you need to go liquid cooling.
