    Hiya, ppl!
I was able to download the new 9.1.1.1011 Intel's chipset update .inf pack.
It's a true pain in the **s again.
IMO, Intel must run not only audio drivers update script, but any Intel's hardware drivers update "wizard" online.
That will be easiest way to update all the drivers to tha latest versions, 4 sure.

    P.S.
    How 1997 is?

How come Intel doesn't update the downloads section with these latest inf, or other drivers for that matter?! They take ages to update the page, most of the times missing several updates. Audio drivers was one such case, around a year to provide new drivers and there were, according to the doc, several updates in-between.
By the way, Sean you said a while back that the inf install wouldn't update all devices, PCI entries would have to be updated manually. Didn't check at the time but now I see that is in fact so, only the X38 main devices are using drivers provided by Intel, the rest use the Microsoft default drivers. Guess it's time to change that.
Haven't flashed 1997 yet, waiting for IDCC. Now the doc says till the end of June.

    petr0id,

    Good finds!

FYI: driver version script doesnt support windows 7

Edit: that chipset installer only updated (even when done manually) 2 components for windows 7...4 under Vista.

As expected Vista SP2 available today.
Some benches showed issues with disk transfers some time ago, not sure those were fixed before final. Anyone noticed anything yet?

Man, Intel really needs to get their act together. Downloads are never up to date it seems. There is a v14.0 PROSet Ethernet drivers available but the latest available to us is still v13.5.
Also, the latest INF if you search for it is way too old, although Petr0id found a fresh new, don't know how though. Searching the downloads page the best found was an old v9.0.xxx, even in our BoneTrail page we get a newer one.

Can someone tell me the BIOS chip model number in the DX38BT? I've got one here with no chip, and I'd like to flash one.

It is very strange, that your motherboard does not have BIOS chip...
R u shure it haven't one? I am asking because BIOS chip is hardly soldered into mobo.

Lets just say I found it in a dumpster

I'm not able to pull up a datasheet for that BIOS chip/part number. I'm actually mostly interested in the size of the BIOS chip, is it a 2M, 4M, 8M part? I'm assuming it's an SPI compatible 2M, I just need someone to confirm. I have the facilities to flash a spare SPI chip, i just need to know if there is a specific chip size that the BIOS files are designed for

    Thanks!

I am not sure, how do i obtain an a mthrfckng size of that fckmthr chip. If some factory would like to make that chip for You, i don't care. So look for that , who stole yours BIOS chip out. Sorry for my bad english, that is all, what i can say 4 the moment?

I have spare SPI chips, I just need to find out the memory size so I can flash a new one. I'm not sure who took it, and I'm especially not sure WHY they would take it

Can you double check the part number of your chip? I wasn't able to google a datasheet.

    Thanks

I dont think that it is a 2M. the bios image itself is 2.4MB, and a recovery image is also created when you flash the BIOS.

my mobo is a bit difficult to see with water cooling installed, but i will try. where is the BIOS chip located?

Finally, Matt delivered as promised. We've moved to v4.2.0.755 on IDCC, BIOS 1997 required. Test time.
Some issues still but it's better than nothing, right?! Auto-tunning will not be available to our version, Matt confirmed.
    Anyone installed it yet? Petri0d?
    Still beta though!!! :-(
Will it work with Vista SP2? Hope Intel confirmed this before releasing.

Diredesire, lucky you finding such a pearl in a dumpster. I had that info once, can't remember where exactly now. Maybe the manual specifies. I think the old (now unavailable) tech specs page said it.
Found it, manual says 16Mb. If you have the means to flash such an SPI chip you got yourself a board. Congrats.

Location of the BIOS chip is, I believe, is in the upper left corner, when you have the back panel connectors facing top in the right corner of the mobo.

Sean, the BIOS image file might be larger than the actual BIOS code, which it seems actually is. The flash is 16Mb (Mbit) in size which equates to 2MB (MByte). It could (should) be larger, so as to accomodate UEFI with maybe some extra apps, I'm still hoping for this in the future... dream on. Intel, are you listening?!

Diredesire, you can download the manual and tps from the Intel download page, if you want to keep that info. The flash model is not mentioned but I believe Sean is correct, I once took the time to locate and write down all major ICs in this board and find documentation. I think I have it saved somewhere.

Thanks for the support guys, I'll see what happens when i flash... I am expecting issues due to the image size being larger than the device...

petr0id, it was like before already, the text I mean. I believe they're referring to the unlocked multiplier only, not sure though. Haven't installed it yet, will flash and install next weekend, I hope. No changes were made to IDCC according to Intel, only bugfixes and stability improved. No auto-tunning was implemented and will not be in the future.
diredesire, according to Intel doc that is the size of the flash chip. Maybe the image itself is not that large, just the file containing it. Let us know how it went.

I have a system with 8GB of RAM, and the 1902 BIOS didn't work well for me. Well, I'm happy to report that 1997 works fine. I'm especially happy that Symantec Ghost disk imaging speed quadrupled with this BIOS version! I have 6 hard disks in my system: 4 in RAID10 are my main array and 2 others in RAID0 are for my backup array. Before the upgrade to 1997, when I was imaging RAID10 to RAID0, it took 8 to 9 hours to clone a 280GB volume. After the upgrade, it finishes in 2 hours!

Welcome Chief. Finally someone posts some 1997 results. Glad to know it improves something.

has anyone else gotten IDCC to work with windows 7? I dont see the service listed at all under services.msc

    Pontius,

Nope, tried it here on W7 too, nothing. Depending on where you look the service is listed differently. Under task manager>services, it is listed as XTUService, in computer management>services, it is listed as Intel(R) Extreme Tuning Utility, the program the service links to is PerfTuneService.exe located in program files(x86)\common\intel\intel extreme tuning utility\

and the service times out on start for me too.
