    Hey Chew.

yeah.. I didn't have time to go in depth into the ram timinmg.. just did the typical changes. I will play with the adv ram timing tonight to see if I can get 4+ Ghz on the NB.

Just to confirm.. keeping all other things constants.. you just tweaked the adv ram timing, and were able to gain more Mhz on the NB?

Yeah.. I saw yoru benching last week. You guys have some sick chips. I have played with about (4) 955 chips.. and have not had any that were 6Ghz 3D06 Stable I think I had 3DM05 @ 5.8 stable.

Working on maximizing the other components right now, like mem & video cards. I figure the a Good 955 will show up sooner or later :P

Yah well thats ln2 not air or water guys....

I have almost reached the max I can do with this board.....

One last thing to tackle with 4870 x2's then gigabyte needs to get a quadfire board out so I can do some real damage with 4890's......

As it stands my only options for 3 and 4 card benching is asus and MSI.

Yah you need to tune ram perfect titon

You probably already have a 6 gig 3d chip......but your not going to get it to 6 gig till you make that IMC happy

My 6.1 3d retail chip unfortunately has a weak NB......my other chips have strong NB and weak cores......Its a tradeoff, most likely not going to get both.

i heard ,this board is not good as MA790FXT for DDR2 for Air overclocking, its true? And why?

    Chew..

Very intresting on what you wrote there.. let me see if I got this right. To get 6Ghz 3D chip, i need to make IMC Happy.

IMC = NB, So "Happy" IMC = "High" NB.. is that right?

Or a Happy IMC not neccesarily "High" NB?

You also mentioned to get High NB on the GB, I need to tweak Adv Ram Timing.

So does that mean 6Ghz 3D = Happy IMC = Good Adv Ram Timing?

    Is that right?

Looks like I am going to be using a lot of LN2 tonight :P

No need to waste LN2 tune, tune your ram on phase......

Once the ram is 100% stable lets say 32m stable it will pass all benches.......

A side effect is the cpu will clock higher and the NB will as well requiring less volts to get there.......

Flanker.......I'm guessing people were going by my use of the ddr II board in my review.......but what they don't realize is that was what was on the bench at the time.......

I did not have time to actually use the ddr 3 board again for 955 air results which sort of bothered me......alot of time was spent on those results and If I had had the time I would rather have done them on the ddr III board with the retail bios versus the ddr II and a beta.....

I only used a beta for the air results on ddr II because no bios retail worked properly with the 955's.........I will refrain from using beta's in future reviews but at the time I was pressed for time so I had no choice....

If the ddr II was better you should ask yourself this however......Why am I using the ddr III to crack Wr's

I will say this however......the ddr II has a few better implementations than the ddr III board.......SB is not linked to Htt on the ddr II board.......and the voltage increments for ram are fine adjustments......From what I have been told they can not change this on the ddr III board........hopefully they will implement these changes on future ddr III boards......

    Hmm..

Ok.. i haven't been using SuperPi. I have mainly been using wPrime to test stability of Cpu and RAM.

    Right now I can pass wprime 1024 w/ Ram at 6-5-5-15 @ 850mhz, running like 5.3Ghz, NB @ 3.6. I even passed 3DMark06 at the same settings.

I figure my ram is "Happy". But I have not yieled any higher NB or CPU Mhz.

I will see if I can do the adv timing to get faster NB speed. Once I figure that out, maybe the CPU Speed will come along next.

I bet you haven't even touched the drive strength's

Use 32mPI for ram, don't bother with Wprime.......get ram stable then get max cpu then bring up NB for ln2 benching.......

For air do memory, then NB then cpu

Chew.. I don't typically wander down that dark alley. I will give it a shot tonight Lets see what I come out with later. Who knows.. maybe a 4Ghz + NB or 6ghz 3D06 will be seen Thanks.

Take oout the Card and try using Onboard sound .

If the Onboard sound works normal but the XF-I dosnt ,, Youll need to find a better XF-I driver driver.

This goes for PCI and PCI-E based cards and Vista 32bit/64bit.
Ive had the very same problem sometimes even with the M3A79-T deluxe.. Something to do with creative driver and ATI chip sets.
    Not using Vista, see sig.
Only has sound corruption when 4th core enabled,
I've used all the Bios from F3 up,
Only get sound corruption when 4th core enabled.

    will do chew* on f3k

and this is some quick test with cheap supertalents

i wont waste time with stock it works

the sticker and box dont state voltage so i left it on normal which is 1.6 on the ud5p and check how far i could get

this is with volts @ 1.75

    And some cas 6 tesing

so for under 60 bucks you can find some decent memory to make a very respectable system

I like this for the price:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227381
It runs at 1600 6-6-6-18 using only 1.65 so you have some headroom if you want to push them higher, with some active cooling imho.
There is an AMD kit supposed to be coming out too.

I got my phenom today (x3 720 0906FPMW) and tried to fire up my sys. I wasnt able to get a screen, c7 / c5 error. Seems that my ram (crucial ballistix 2000MHz CL9 Kit with D9GTS or D9GTR) doesnt work. have to get new ram now

    Did you contact them?
I used the Ballistix Tracer DDR3 with this board and it worked fine (except that one stick died but thats another story), so I am surprised you are having issues with their RAM.
I hope someone has some information to offer some advice here.

Try one stick, tune your ram then boot, tune with memtest......once tuned add second stick......I used GTR in the overclocking event in austin........6-6-5-15-11 @ 1720.........If tuned correctly at safe voltages ( 2.0v ) they should do 1600 6-6-6 rather easy.

Chew, are you familiar with the Ram I am using?
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227381
If so, do you think I can safely push them to 1333 cas 5 or maybe I should try using some active cooling on them?
What is a safe temp for this type of Ram anyway?
    Thanks!
