I can run superpi 32m, wprime 32m, however except when I benched in a particularly cold room. I cannot finish 3dmark06 as it always crashes at the cpu test. Spring is starting so I can't get the room cold anymore.

    My settings are
    1.5375 volts for the core.
    1.475 for vtt
    I/oh 1.20 volts

    qpi pll = 1.360
    pll voltage = 1.88

    bclk = 222
    turbo on
    ht on

    uncore = 18x
    memory multiplier = 8

Going up to 1.55 volts for cpu will make the system not boot.

    Bios f7c
try to OC the PCIe in windows a bit

also try using CPU Skew 500ps

not sure what cooling you are on man but it's going to be tough stabilising that unless you are on subzero cooling

With the voltages you are running you would be best off disabling HT, it will help a lot to lower the temps, at 1.5V and with 4.5ghz+ cooling I7 is not a easy job, even with water.

The only things I really like about 8b is new AHCI rom so boot is few seconds faster in AHCI mode as does not pause for drive search, has quick timings entry so can enter 7,7,7 21 1 just once for all three channels, and S3 which you dont use. As for performance, stability, volt requirements, I have never seen much diff in any bios from F4j-F8b on mine, just bugs that come and go. F7C still had the Qflash bug if flashing to earlier bios, ie F3-F4, though did not exhibit the bug if flashing to same or later bios. F8b has no Qflash bug at all...but if your using F4j, you never had that bug to begin with.

Also in regards to new AHCI rom, I downloaded bios 8b from noangels post on tweaktown that said had new AHCI rom....have not tried 8b from main download page, so not sure if that 8b does have updated AHCI rom...though not that I am curious...will have to see.

Damn, I tried what you said Dino and it crashed on the second part of the cpu test in 06. I had a nice score going too. Its definitely temp related because I benched in a cold room again(not as cold as before when it completed the test), and I think that was the primary reason it made it to the 2nd cpu test this time.

Damn you spring, why did you have to come. I want -35 again.

Are classified Mb more stable Dinos? I might have to consider one of those boards in the future.

yeah man sounds like you managed to push a bit further but still not able to get it stable
you can try lowering your uncore volts which will create less pressure on CPU and reduce temps a bit

try with lower multi to see if temp stable or bus issues

    sounds like temps though

    ahh another winter Canuck clocker

Are you running with HT on? I find it tough to get through CPU #2 in 06 anything over 4.4ghz, but with HT off, you end up with better SM2/SM3 scores which balance out the cpu score in the end.

Yeah I am leaving HT on. I Think the amount of boost HT gives to the final CPU score is better than with out it to the overall score.

With my old c0, I was benching at 4450 to 4500, with HT off, and I would only get 29k.

With my d0, I can bench at 4663(weather permitting), and I get 31K. I don't think 160mhz is going to be boosting my overall score 2k.

I find 3d06 runs are inconsistent those(maybe its my PS choking), but sometimes I can get a good 3dscore and a high cpu score, with HT enabled.

Hey reverand, do you know of any place that sells phase in Canada, shipping via usa would be killer.

Works with HT on, never ran with HT off, but will check.

Funny thing, I never tried S3 before, never used it, then 2 things happened. One, people said it was fixed on F7betas and two, at same time had been playing with kill-o-watt meter, then decided to test out S3...been using since.

So actually I cant say if mine works on earlier bioses or not. But works fine with 8b bios. One thing I found is that sometimes I have to clear cmos when coming off a bios like F3 (testing stuff with it) to get S3 to work on 7c/8b....so maybe it does not work with earlier bioses on mine.

Edit: S3 works with HT on or off, just tested by having it sleep after 1 minute. Worked fine, and wakes up with tap of spacebar. Also, I am using wind 7 RC 1, and to get s3 to work properly I had to go to power options>>change plan settings>>change advanced power settings>>and set - no- to require password on wake. Otherwise for some reason hitting keyboard would not wake it, had use power button.

    I am considering buying a GA-EX58-UD4P MB.
I don't plan to liquid cool it (XigmaTek 1283 will do I think), but it will be in a fairly cool basement. I only plan to run a single video card (right now 4870).
I won't have more than 3-4 HD on it (now Velociraptor, Seagate 1.5TB, WD500GB).
Is there any point in going for UD5 or putting Extreme BIOS on the mobo?

I bought a 920 D0 chip and plan to get OCZ Platinum 1600. (I will likely OC the chip to ~4Ghz)

Can anyone confirm which bioses (except F6e) have a working S3 option on the UD5? I'm using the F6e beta bios. F7 final was recently released. I tried several F7 betas but S3 sleep would not work with any of them.

Does anyone have the same issue that i have and that is 6 gig of ram showing as 6.0 gig installed and 4.0 usable in control panel, think it was the same in vista 64 and now in windows 7 also.

just had a poke around and when i remove i stick it shows as 4 gig and 2 gig usable unless i left the first white slot empty and then it shows as 4 gig with two sticks fitted , i tried all three sticks in different slots so to me its looking like i have a slot that not reading, the white slot nearest the cpu
