NaeKuh: so im guessing your gonna give your hubby a sleeved psu instead of a knitt sweater as a present one day???
Ha! He's 6'5" and they don't call him Big Dog for nothing It would take a year to knit a sweater for him. I did build him a new PC for his birthday, but he's not too interested in sleeving, and abhors water cooling.

@ CptDreadFlint - Thanks ... I'm sure not everyone enjoys the tortuous routes I seem to take.

@ DB: Yeah, I think Fasmia got your green monster. The only green one I have is this one:

Thanks for the compliments, guys. A learning process, for sure.

I do want to add that the blue sleeving looks great. In RL, it is a tad more "aqua" than is showing in the pics - the bottom pic of the last two is a little closer to reality. BlueAqua / Kirk probably knows what I mean, as we were at first a bit concerned about the heat shrink and sleeving matching - the heat shrink color in the pics is representative. (Caveat - at least on my monitor).

Hey Shaz, what length do you cut the shrink to get it so perfect like that? 2cm?

I'd guess about 2 cm, but I'll measure once my pins get here so I can do the actual cables - instead of pretending My biggest concern is being able to cut the heatshrink uniform lengths.

I always prefer a tool OK - a serious answer. I tried the expensive tool first, and broke it within 10 minutes. I then used staples for the first PSU I did ... it worked, but a major PITA. Now I'm using the cheapie tool:

(Purchased from Petra's Tech ... I actually got 4 of them. Broke 2 very quickly, but the third has lasted a long time, once you get the hang of it). The real secret is doing it at a table, pulling the pin straight out. Trying to watch TV and de-pinning on the sofa is dangerous.

There we go, now that's perfect Shazza, that blue is incredible.

As for finding the perfect shrink cutter, I found that the sharp cutter found on a pair of wire cutter/strippers works extremely well, it has a very crisp cut that won't squeeze before it cuts, as you often find with scissors. I found this also cut sleeve very quickly and without causing any "un-braiding" as you sometimes get with other cutting methods.

I noticed that if you burn the ends of the sleeve, sometimes it will cause those sharp edges that protrude through the shrink after heated.

I ended up not singeing the ends of my sleeve and I found it left a much rounder finish on the shrink and a cleaner transition into the connector.

Looking forward to seeing this completed, very interesting build.

Thanks, Liderc. Yes, I've been slightly singing the ends of the sleeving, but will experiment with your suggestion.

Yes ... but you have to admit it keeps us entertained. And, he does some cool stuff.

Some parts arriving in the next few days which will allow me to finish sleeving. A new waterblock that may be hit or miss, and some more BP fittings. I wanted to do this build with only barbs, but just concerned about making all the bends work. I am the BP poster girl by default.
