Even at stock? And you make sure heatsink is installed correctly? My temp at stock speed with underload all cores hover around 54-56. With 21x205 (4.305Ghz), all cores run around 79ish. This is on Scythe Mugen 2. I also have Extreme 120, which should run around the same temp.

Okay, I guess I missed it if you guys actually exchanged info on this thread. What exactly is it that enable your to go that high in bclk? Maybe it will help me, too.

have you tried undervolting the chip? seems defective, like runaway current leakage. maybe it'll be manageable at 1v or something, but in any case, you should return it.

Yeap, that's really high. Same reading in both the OS and BIOS, I take it? Do you have another CPU to try? Maybe your board is faking it?

Have you tried the stock cooler just to see what tempts you get ... maybe the true is not making good contact.

Yeah, that's another possible point...Or maybe the CPU is concave or corvex and makes a very bad contact with the Heatsink.

Well my last 920 was fine wit this HS...kind wish I kept it.
I put a razor on top of my D0 and I looks fine. HS is making full contact and I even did the True washer trick.

Can a bad board make CPU run hotter?

It may, but very rare if ever. Only thing I could think of is that Intel may have made a bad IHS contact with the core inside, so heat transfer is very bad.

Have the same batch, and its a roaster. At 4.2ghz 1.275 vcore just a quick linx run with default memory usage runs it to 75c on my true, so I can imagine what it will hit with max mem.
