Thanks Solar. The temps were nothing to brag about lol. idling around 36-40C lol. Now I have to find the right combination of voltages to get this thing HT stable. Even at 4.3ghz HT on, it fails Vantage physx tests every time. The Gigabyte was good up to 4.46ghz HT on, all bench stable.

The CPU VTT over shoot is pissing me of as well. When I set it to 1.35v it ends up as 1.53v...do you get that?

Whoa, I get that, but not as much as you. 1.35 to 1.53 is bad. Mine is set at 1.4 and in eLeet monitoring it shows up as 1.5, but doesn't seem to fluctuate more than .01 even under load. Mostly stays right at 1.50. It is curious. Maybe it's a hard-locked voltage due to some other settings I'm using. I theorize that even if I dropped it to 1.35v that it would stay at 1.5 kind of like yours. Maybe I'll test it later ... I'm going to try some of Solarfall's settings he used to get 4.6GHz ... let's see how high this C0 can go!!

please forgive me if this has been already addressed.

what is the difference between the 759 and 760 version?..i am getting the 760 version.

i've noticed that EVGA website does not have any bioses for download...does that mean the boards are the same as to bios operation (shared bios)?

Not sure Ace, but I think I read at eVGA that they're just changing the part number but I could be totally wrong.

The 759 has the NF200 northbridge and the 760 doesn't. For about a week there was also a 761, which didn't have the NF200 like the 760, but it came with the ECP, which the 760 doesn't. EVGA heard everyone complaining about it being too confusing and dropped the 761 and now sell the ECP separately for $25.

BTW, the BIOS's are under the support tab or you can find the latest BIOS's by looking at the stickies in the X58 forum.

On their site they do have different bioses for all three boards...or at least they all have different names/numbers

    SZ2E for the Vanilla http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.asp?m=100646372
    S21S for the 759 http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.asp?m=100644472
    S60Z for the 760 http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.asp?m=100644534

It also makes sense because all of the boards have different physical differences which I would assume would need different software to control them.

thank you guys for the feedback...nothing worse than flashing with the wrong bios code....what a way to start out with a new DEAD board

i have to say, this board is loaded with nice features.

anyone used "diablo csx" ddr3-2000 memory (samsung IC's) on this board...OR...corsair ddr3-2000?

i have a 920 D0 that will be matched with the board with a TRUE 120 heatsink, dual fan, 105 cfm per fan.

    @ Sirkronan>

well, the board arrived yesterday, with corsair ddr-3 2000 memory, gtx-285 and two GSkill SSD (128 gb per) drives that employ 64 mb of cache...i am still short the cpu and 1366 bracket for the TRUE 120.

i am reading the manual and it says the PCIe slots are"reserved" for video cards...i was wondering if the last 16x/8x slot (4th 16x slot) could be used with an Areca 1210 8x Raid PCIe card...anyone seen posts by users employing this card on the 760 version board?...i'll give it a try anyway...first post will be without the card just to confirm the board is working ok.

i get the cpu and diablo memory either today or tomorrow along with the 1366 bracket.

i like the layout of the board, and the manual is easy reading..the only thing i might of wished for is one more fan header.

AND finally, the voltage reading pads are a super idea to keep us guys from shorting out the board trying to read all the various board voltages.

I am sure it will work ok, even if I never tested.
I have an Asus Rampage II Extreme with an Adaptec Raid SAS controller PCIe 8x and naturelly it works in any PCIe slot.

Anyone here with a Xeon W3520 cpu?
If yes how is the lock situation with latest bios?

    On my Asus I have:

    - memory dividers available only 2:6 and 2:8
    - Uncore clock locked
    - QPI link speed locked.

    Thanks,

Thanks for suggestion but there are rumors that Asus will not fully support Xeon cpus, even in ROG motherboards.

In latest BIOS of My Asus MB, they are correctly recognized but not fully unlocked, like described in my previous post.

It is why I am asking in the forum to decide if I have to buy a new MB (and which one) or an i7 cpu.

E-LEET mis reports vTT. what you set in the BIOS is generally what the board is actually supplying, even less under load. check with a DMM, don't believe E-LEET. have a look at the chart in my review...

also, there are no settings that can "hard-lock" your vTT.

That falls true for the X58 Sli as well 3oh6? What the person you quoted was replying to was a comment about it and not the Classy.

vDIMM also droops heavily on my board as well. i have to set 0.05v above what i want it to be at under load.
I almost wished it wasn't, because I'm running consistently 10C hotter idle and load and was sure it was because of VTT overshoot.

Thanks for the headsup on the vdimm droop, definitely a clutch thing to know.

yeah, it is huge when trying to diagnose memory issues. keep in mind, this is just from a single board. from what i have seen these boards are fairly consistent, but you might want to double check your own with a DMM just to be sure.
