Hey chew, what was the tip to keep my IMC happy again?
Put it under LN2 bud and then get back to me Harder you beat up on IMC the less CPU want to clock, Oh and BTW......I tested 6-6-6 at 1626 around 6.2g versus my other ram 9-9-9 1700......the 9-9-9 1700 was over .4secs faster and still wanted to clock cpu higher.... ( happy IMC makes for a happy CPU )

    which ram?

btw chew, you stated somewhere that upping the nb voltage a bit (board/chipset nb not cpu_nb though) could help in ram clocking. Do i remember that right?

Same ram as before, remember I stated I didn't put much effort into my 6-6-6 settings, I was more interested in how 5-5-5 panned out, same unsafe voltage as before.....

Yes in certain cases it does.......seems it makes a rather large diff in 64 bit OS's or when runnning all banks full.

    hehe good old nanya..

most of them are crap but i had some outstanding ddr 4gb set back in the days that did 300mhz 3-3-2-8 @ only 2,8v from gskill that must have been nanya 5anything equipped as it was not micron nor infineon.. loved those on my old cfx3200

the DDR3 controller seems to be qutie fussy about how single and dual rank memory. especially as you increase the frequency. single rank seem to be the easiest to work with.

Got my ram doing 900mhz cl7 and 600mhz cl6 finally. Curiously, although s&m is stable and it stresses ram a lot (used it for ram testing for a long time), super pi 32m will error out.. Crazy ... Will try linpack..

i got the ocz3g1600lv6gk triple kit - seemed like one of the few LV ddr3 options available in the UK atm - i keep one stick as a spare for now. sofar i got 7-7-7-22 stable at 1.6v at 1333.

no go sofar at 1600 - tried slack timings and upto 1.76v sofar - cpu upto 1.68 and NB upto 1.4. cant get memtest to do a clear run.

Try less volts down to 1.57 and 7-7-7-24-28-1T also try diff banks.....these like the back banks on my MSI board.

Right, sorry guys, i posted the wrong screenshot. Tnx chew*

Chew, did you notice memory OC potential increase with single-stage CPU cooling? I chopped my old SS to make a GPU SS for my buddy and now i'm only stuck with d.i.y. cascade, which is too bulky to travel with me every week to my study town Gotta make myself an -70°C auto-cascade

i noticed on the m4a79t board that if trfc0 and trfc1 are set to AUTO then trfc1 is blank in amd overdrive - maybe a glitch in the asus bios. i guess il set that manually to make sure the value is asserted.

my defaults for processor ODT - on die termination - are on AUTO and are set to 60ohms. i dotn seem to be able to set the dram termination value in bios. what values are others using?

accord to the amd bios developers guide the processor ODT must be 60ohms ( which is what i currently have ) -

for one stick the DIMM_ODT must be 60.
for 2 or 3 sticks it must be 40 ( mine is currently set to 60 )
for 4 sticks it must be 60

these values are important and affect the signal quality from the memory.

The key to ram clocking on the Asus ddr II is in the AI tuner page at the bottom, clock skews....change to normal and work from there.......Not sure about the ddr III board as I have yet to use one.....the back banks on the asus I have heard are the best......and are the best on the ddr II variant as well.

The DDR3 boards are not exposing all the clock skews and other tasty bits yet.

could you post a screenie of your amd overdrive performance control / memory screen please?

Atm I can't do that 99% of my hardware is on a long trip.....I will snap a shot when it returns from its journey.
