Lose display after 5 seconds of POSTing?

Hi, I just finish installing and leak testing my build. I been using it for a month without problem before hand, but after I installed the water blocks (mobo, video, CPU), the screen blacks out after 5 seconds of POSTing and never resume back.

    Spec:
    i7 920
    Asus R2E
    6 gigs of ram
    4870x2

I am pretty sure it's not overheating issue, since the post screen only flashes half way, I don't think the temperature could rise that fast.

Two things that might cause to problem in my mind are the power plugs, both cpu and gpu. This is my first time WC, I don't know if the system will boot without those plugged in, for safety measure.

Anyone with similar experience or advice on what I could try to fix the problem?

If you don't have power going to your mobo\GPU, yeah, that will cause a problem.

Otherwise, I'd say maybe remount the blocks? Things -will- heat up that fast if they aren't getting cooling.

Does it turn off after 5 seconds? Or just go blank?

Normally your gpus scream if they don't have the additional power. Systems turns itself off after a few seconds.

To leak test in the future, jump start your psu [paper clip green to black] and disconnect all non wc parts.

I have plugged in the the ATX main, and sub power, both 8pin and 6pin power on the GPU.

I just connected the LCD unit. When I boot my machine it shows CMOS ERR (CMOS Error I suppose).

Here's the list of debug messages:
    LOCKED
    DET DRAM
    CHECKCPU
    VGA BIOS
    USBFINAL
    INIT ROM
    CMOS ERROR

It goes blank and doesnt turn off with CMOS error on debug screen.

I don't see any abnormality from the GPU, and I used an external PSU for leak test with the same paper clip trick to make sure the I don't accidentally do anything stupid and toast my rig.

I tried unplugging my HDDs, sound card, temp senor. None seems to effect the booting, which means it still goes blank after the bios screen animation (ROG logo) played half way.

I tried going into the BIOS, no help either. The screen goes blanks as the system is checking itself.

One thing I did not try is clearing CMOS. I have no experience with this and I have a RAID 0 and RAID 1 drives running off the mobo RAID chip, I do not want to lose all my data when if I do something that I am not suppose to.

Since I ususally wire everything as I put my system together, it's not easy to do after loops are installed, I plug my pumps to an old psu with it's blk. and green jumped.

what has me confused is it posts, and then it doesnt refresh back on.

Is there any artifacts in the 5 second post?

Can you test the card on another monitor?

No artifacts at all. The system with exact same setting was working before flawlessly, I might have done something stupid while putting ti back together. As for the posting part it doesn't fully, only half way. And it seems to go black always at the same time.

I am still not sure what exactly the problem is, but I predict it's nothing related to actual cooling.

I am still trying to figure how how to clear cmos and flash back to default bios on this board, hopefully it can improve the situation.

Actually I found out what the problem is. It was the infamous XSPC overheating problem. I remounted it and now I can get into windows. But if I run a game, the systems will overheat.

This is the log file from the start of recording:

I am not sure if GPU temp is normal or not, but the voltage is definitely not getting enough cooling. The system crashes when the voltage reaches 100c, and then the third warning light lights up indicating overheating.

Also I have my CPU idles around 30-40 unoverclocked, is this normal?

/Sarcasm on I love the XSPC block /off
Really, so many users have issues with this block including myself.
Try to use thicker pads on the VDDC, that doesn´t make good contact with the cooler. I managed to get ~55°C // 75°C Loadtemps after several remounts. (Still far away from perfect as you can see, because one Chip is getting ~20°C hotter than the other one, but it doesen´t get any better).

I don't have any thick pads, only the thin ones. Will layering them good enough to keep the temperature under control? Another thing preventing me from doing so is that I am afraid that the GPU cores do not get enough pressure and contact. On my first try I put pads on every VRAM and ended up having a loose contact between the block and the GPUs. Just want to make sure, are those black rectangular boxes located between the GPUs and one at the right of the 2nd GPU the voltage regulartors?

As for XSPC, I don't think it will get another purchase from me. Both and only XSPC radiator and waterblock I have had problems with them, it seems the bargain price tag comes with a cost.
