    ok, will wait ...

Heatsink at idle! - 63C! Temp Monitor in Genie software says 74C on IOH ... without active FAN on this hatsink, mobo still freezes or getting Bluescreens ... IOH is too hot.

Hi, I also have that board. IOH is the same temp as yours (85C and climbing). I attached a fan blowing direct onto the IOH HS and it's now running at 64C. But still, that's kind of high.

Mine originally came with 1.0B23 (3/31/09) as well, but the one off the website is just 1.0 (without the last three characters) and is dated 4/21/09 instead. It's a little more stable than the first one.

i am glad to hear, someone has mobo too ... but these temp problems are tragical ... absolutely unusable mobo without FAN on heatsink. But in box is no FAN. I have lot of another problems too, if i run Genie or Overclocking center ... system in few seconds/minutes hangs. Especially OC center is very slow and unstable ... do you have similar problems? DOT aplication is not working at all ... but OCing (if is stable is good)

I have not tried any included software whatsoever yet. I prefer to do everything from the BIOS, not even sure what this Genie does, have to read the manual more! Hhhehheh

What is Genie anyway? Is it the GreenPowerII?

We also got this board today... will have to see what temps we get
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

OverClocking takes a few seconds to load, but other than that, it doesn't lock or freeze. It froze once because I was already in a OCed state from BIOS. Once I put everything to stock, simply running the OverClocking program doesn't freeze my system...not sure if that tells you anything. For Genie, I have to unplug my power connector and insert that module, correct? If that's the case, since unplugging the power connector means I will to have undo the fan that I kind of tied around to this connector, I probably don't want to undo it at this time.

Well, so much about marketing junks that this board comes with DrMOS2 to help it running cool, everything goes out the door as far as this claim is concerned. Very poor IOH Heatsink implementation I will tell everyone that.

MSI claim : we separate NB/Sb and mosfet hetasinks, it is best for cooling" BUT this is biggest mistake, heat cannot dissipate from two poultices without heatpipe to some robbed heatsink ... before launch, this must be corrected or FAN included in box.

here there is a beta bios, i tested it,seems stabel to me but use it at your own risk.

    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=IUJFDRNH

About the temp problem i solved in this way:

    1) dismount the heatsink
    2) clean the bad therma pad originally used with tryeline
    3) put some good therma grease, i reccomend to use no conductive grease ( i use artic ceramic)
    4) take out the fancy blu plate over the heatsink
    5) mount again
    6) put a little fan over the NB area

It worked pretty fine for me

I am a previous owner of MSI eclipse and I have tested the MSI x58 Pro as well. I really hate the split thermal design that MSI implemented on their X58 boards. Engr's in tawian are still saying it is still within the intel's tolerable limit which is 100C ... Well yeah it is but overclockers and enthusiats really hate high temperatures so basically i removed the crappy purple thermal interface material that they used and replaced it with as5 ...remove the push pin and spring and replaced it with bolt and plastic nut. added a 40mm fan as well and temps during idle is below 50's while around 60's on 4ghz overclock and load

I cannot find the specific pix for the eclipse but below is the pix from the x58 pro :

How long are the screws you have taken ?

I own a MSI X58 Platinum and have the same heat problems.

    (over 70 °C idle)

Anybody got an idea which 2nd party passive heatsinks would fit on it ?

in the eclipse plus there is no push-pin but screw to hold the heatsink, wich are really well made IMHO.
BTW the purple thermal pad is not good, so swap it with a regular thermal grease will be ok ...........

Eclipse nad Eclipse Plus are NOT the same .... Eclipse has NB/SB with heatpipe to heatsink above mosfets, there is heat dissipate ... and NB heatsink is bigger and better, on Eclipse Plus is only "pankcake" heatsink withou that heatpipe. Under heatsink on Eclipse Plus is nforce 200 too, and this hot chip too. Guess why has EVGA Classified HUGE heatsink? Because NB+SB+nF200 are damn hot! Only way to stable OC board is FAN ... but where is that fan in BOX?

Downloaded but haven't flashed my BIOS yet. Just have a question...how is it different from version 1.0 off MSI's site? So, is this beta version 1.0P, correct?

Think gonna try reseat/reapply thermal grease to the IOH and SB/NF200 heatsink.

Since I'm having trouble with OCing this board, I will try the Beta BIOS to see if I can OC a little better. I know I may be missing a parameter here and there so my OCing isn't stable at all.
