I would most certainly get a set of 2x2g.......1x1 gig are good for 2d benches at best.........

what ram would be best?
i only do benches so far no games

Hate to sound like a broken record around here, but what operating system are you using? If it is WinXP 64 or Vista 64, you reached the clock limit already on water.

I had vista 64 then switched to win7 64

should i try xp 32?
