    Hi.

Thank you VERY VERY much for posting this!!

I could not get over 200bclk stable and using your settings, I am running 214x21 on my 920 D0.

However, I have the decision to make:

    1. CPU at 200x21, RAM at 200x10 (2000)

    2. CPU at 214x21, RAM at 214x8 (1712Mhz)

I am using the 6GB Kingston HyperX 2000 kit with the Elpida Hyper chips but I'm having a hard time getting the chips stable up to 2100.

I've looked at eva2000's website over at i4memory, but he is using a DFI board.....

    More than happy to help!

I'm not the guy that masks of Vcore in CPU-Z etc.
That's why I always have Everest open so everyone can get an impression of the voltages and chipset
    temperatures.

As the bottom image shows I'm able to run a 227 BCLK, no problems at all booting into windows etc.
    It's all about fine-tuning.

What temperatures are you guys getting for the NB/SB?
As you can see i'm around 50c under 100% stress, but I replaced the TIM of the heatsink contruction straight out of the box, so
I have nothing to compare it to.

The other thing that bugs me about the RIIE is that I can't see the exact temperature of the QPI/DRAM module located under the
ROG logo. With my IR thermometer I heatsink heats up to about 40c, but that says nothing about the actual temperature underneath.

Pff, now I need some help:

trying to get my memory up to speed.
    Currently running:
227x19=4313Mhz CPU speed (100% stable with 6x memory multiplier)
    227x8=1816Mhz memory
    227x17=3859 Uncore
    AMP +800mv

    CPU 1.275
    CPU PLL 1.88
    QPI/DRAm 1.45
    IOH 1.45
IOH PCIE 1.5 (tried up to 1.7, no result)
ICH 1.1 (tried up to 1.3, no result)
    ICH PCIE 1.5
    DRAM 1.67
    DRAM ref AUTO

    CPU Spread Spectrum disabled
    PCIE Spread Spectrum disabled
    HTT enabled
    c1e etc. disabled

DRAM timings: 9-9-9-24-2T (just to be sure the timings aren't to tight)

No idea what to do next. What are you guys running for QPI/DRAM and IOH while venturing for 1800+Mhz of speed?
Or I'm I just having bad luck and hit the max my IMC could handle?

y not u test ure kit at 1870mhz CL7 first
ure dram voltage and uncore voltage is the same regardless of whats ure qpi link speed is

take note theres a max on each dram multi on certain bclk
multi 10 taps out around 215
multi 12 taps out around 200. so 2400mhz i currently theorize is impossible for 920

Asus will be updating the bios for the RIIE fairly soon so that it unlocks the ram dividers etc with W3520 right?

Also are there any pencil mods for this board or does it not have problems with vdroop etc.

First of all, forgot to mention, it's a OCZ3P1600LV6GK kit. 1870 CL7 will be impossible, referring to the reviews that barely managed to get 7-7-7-20-1T stable on 1.65V.

    Second of all:
I don't understand a word you are saying.
DRAM en Uncore voltage is the same? Uncore is the IOH I thougt?!

And the multi's don't makes sence to me either, can someone explain it a bit further??

right so just change to some looser subtiming but with those gold kits .. eh tough luck

no the ioh is actually the ioh pll voltage. to tell u the truth it has no difference until 220bclk. for r2e theres a difference acuse it affects the dram skewing strengths i think.

uncore is the vtt voltage. aka ure nb speed in cpuz which is x2 of ure dram.
qpi is the qpi link speed. the qpi link speed is the one that caps out the max dram multiplier speed based on bclk. stock for i7 920 is 4.8ghz while i7 965's are 6.4ghz. 200bclk with qpi multi 18 results in 7.2ghz.

btw nb speed in cpuz has nothing to do with northbridge. The ioh pll is located at the northbridge hence why its call ioh.
    ich is ure southbridge.

Great I'm finally getting a grip on this mobo!

Currently I'm testing the CPU for overclocking, when finished I'll overclock the RAM, any way :

    Mobo: R2E
    CPU: 920 batch 3841A534
RAM : OCZ 3x2 GB intel extreme edition 1600MHz 8-8-8-24
Cooler : Cooler master V8 ( switching to water cooling in the very near future)

    CPU @ 3.6 currently
RAM @ 1200 ( will try higher when completeing CPU testing)

    CPU 1.25
    CPU PLL Auto
    QPI/DRAm Auto
    IOH Auto
    IOH PCIE Auto
    ICH 1.1 Auto
    ICH PCIE Auto
    DRAM 1.65

I've finished 10 Passes of intel stress test, 7 hours of OCCT and now I've juststarted prime95, will try it for 24 hours.

Memtest 86 ran the whole night, not a single error found at 1880Mhz.
I boot into windows, LinX stops at an error after 5 minutes.

What's there to conclude now? Is Memtest (a very reliable program imo for finding errors) missing an error
or is LinX doing it wrong??

I'll try OCCT, also linpack stressing, wondering if it finds an error also.

memtest stresses just the ram, your mem controller is now on the chip which is why lnyx is crapping out on you but memtest isn't. I had this same problem

I've been overclocking for a while, I came up with an idea that stability doesn't always mean to pass all tests, with my gigabyte EX58-Extreme I would pass 24 hours of prime, 4 hours of OCCT and 20 passes of intel stress test and yet the PC would fail installing windows at the tested 3.8GHz!!!!!

Try pumping the Ram voltage a little or back off with RAM pushing!

Cool... guess i will just have to wait a bit longer before making my decision on the r2e or the classified

Strange behavior , I finished 20 hours of prime 95 with the above settings with no errors and decided to run the RAM at 1600 8-8-824 T1 ( this is the RAM default speed).
I restarted the computer changed Dram voltage into 1.65 and applied the RAM settings as needed.
Logged into windows ran Everest and Asus probe just to compare between it, started OCCT for fast evaluation for 4 hours.
After the 4 hours I came back to check the PC, found out that on everest and asus probe the voltages are all missed up with some strange readings!!!
OCCT finished with no errors, I decided to log into the BIOS and investigate and also apply manual voltage settings to the rest of the Auto values, as soon as I restarted windows the PC kept on running the Asus LCD didn’t display the normal boot sequence and the PC didn’t display any thing on the monitor.
I cold boot it and it refused to come up at all, I’ve witnessed the same problem I’ve seen with the my old EX58-extreme which can be seen in this clip.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mdolaz3I_xE

Any way, I powered the PSU off then on, the mobo booted fine but with an error message that states that my overclocking is not correct, I logged into the BIOS to find out that all voltages are missed up pretty bad!!!!!
Every thing is not what I stated there, like CPU voltage is at 1.55+.
I loaded the profile I saved, switched all voltage values to auto except the CPU voltage and RAM voltage and now I’m using Prime95 to test it again!!

Yeah these stability testing tools are not enough I have found. I can run prime linx occt (psu cpu gpu etc) for 6-8 hours with no problems on my rampage 2 with no problems BUT doing simple things like opening cpu-z, loading certain crysis levels, opening asus probe and getting correct readings.... all of these can fail with my "stable" setup.

We really need a better way than the current batch of stability tools to test our machines thorougly, they only test a certain part of the machine IMO, eg increasing qpi volts from 1.27 to 1.3 fixed most of my stability problems with crysis level loading crashes, but none of the normal stability tools could find this instability, even occt psu test. asus probe showing incorrect values is one of my own ways of seeing an unstable setup.... although none of the above tools find these problems.

Still finding a solution to my memory problems I'm currently having and I've noticed that (almost) everyone is using Vista x64 or Windows 7.

Is there a chance that my problems could be OS related? I'm running XP x64...

check your RAM at lower Speed or higher CL!
See if Lix will give you errors.

ANy words on new BIOS guys?

No news from my hook at Asus Italy.
I think it is right the rumor that they are working on a completely new BIOS for B3 chipset revision.

I am one of the guys with the locked Xeon and I am waiting for it really anxiously.

I sure hope that they make the BIOS Elpida Hyper friendly...

This board requires A LOT of VTT to get them to run good when the DFI X58 doesn't....
