    Good day guys!

    Now to Sparky and hotwax;
    We all do what we can.. 200 points a day or 200,000
    No one ever stops and says "Jeez, is that all he does?"
    I still think back with a smile and respect when leadhead at age 14 told me he finally got his AMD socket A to make 200 PPD in 'that other app' we did.
    I think that kid tweaked that machine for a month to get to that figure.
    Like I said, we all do what we can and that is the right number.

    Well, 5.6M is a good number. Has anyone seen these new Beta Wu's. Its called BETA_FLU, do you think it has anything to do with the Swine flu? They take about an Hour each at 3ghz.

    When they have WUs that they need a really fast turnaround on they send out more than they need for a quorum and once a quorum has been met, if your machine has not yet started crunching the WU, the server sends an "abort" message. I see the confusion on GPUGrid (their WUs feed the next WUs so they are always in a race with themselves, cool project if you have an nvidia card you want to crunch) and it often is misunderstood and people get upset. Please keep in mind that if you have started crunching the WU it will NOT be aborted on you ... it will let you finish and give you credit. I got about 50 of these last night and luckily I happened to be sitting at the machine when the first one came down ... I immediatly went to my device profile and upped my cache to see if I could get more ... I sure did. I then manually suspended all other tasks except the betas so they would process right away (they likely would have anyway because they had a 24 hour dealine so they would run on "High Priority") but I wanted to make sure.

    Now for a confession .. and I do feel kinda bad but I did this in the heat of the beta distribution. In order to avoid the "server abort" scenario I suspended each beta unit after it had 1% complete and then went back and resumed them. While it worked I am no longer proud of finding a way to *game* the system.

    Don't worry, I've started out on a E6550 running at only around 3ghz and even that only part time, just don't let the crunching bug bite you, oh wait, it's already too late, well, in that case, better get a appointment with Dr.Sig.

    Seriously though, a I7 puts out some serious results in WCG, nothing to be ashamed off.

    I bet you, me and a bunch of others that only have 1 i7 are still climbing the ranks pretty quick and while it may seem small in comparison to the top 20 or so ... we are definately kicking the heck out of other people's ppd in the larger WCG community :-)

    an i7 here and i7 there ... pretty soon it adds up to some real crunching ... XtremeSystems 5,887,097

    hey, what is "TPU" ? I've heard it's where people went during the shutdown but I don't know what that refers to.
