Okay, I sent in an email and this was his reply. Unfortunately this was why I placed an order because I also thought it meant they had stock:

The item appears in stock because our system synchronizes with our distributor’s database every 2 days and they have stock on the other CPU stepping. The stepping is not part of the SKU or part number, so that’s why it appears “In Stock” early in the morning until I manually put it “Out of Stock”.
Orangeblast, you can't get a refund if they never charged you. Compumusic hadn't charged my order because they didn't have any stock, so canceling it wasn't an issue.

No, I was charged, they had "D0s" in stock when I purchased. I received my purchase and it was a C0..not a D0 as guaranteed. So I shipped it back and have been on hold ever since then..or until they get D0s back in stock. So I was charged ....I'll just have to wait and see...if by Friday I don't get anything, I'm going to ask for my refund and try another way.

Fry's in Fremont and San Jose both don't have it either. It would be great if someone knew if Fry's Campbell or Sunnyvale had it.
I went to the one in Dallas/Richardson and went through the 35 chips they had...all SLBCH as well. I asked if I could call another store and have it transferred to the Dallas store to buy but the lady working there told me they won't do store to store transfers.

Ah, that's what happened to me the first time. Sorry to hear it. Robert promptly refunded my first order that was also an SLBCH mistake... I ordered again when the page was showing stock when really there wasn't any but Compumusic never charged me for that second order.

I have a chip en route from Kaidu, they are definitely slower to process and ship orders by comparison. Ordered before 8am and the order wasn't picked up by Fedex until well after 5pm.

Are you sure you talked to a knowledge salesperson? On several trips to my local Micro Center, the salespersons there are just dumb...when I asked: "Do you have any D0 of the i7 920 CPU yet?" Everyone said, "What? Repeat that." The "D0" tends to be the confusing factor for them. When I further said, "On the i7 920, there is a new stepping called 'D0', do you guys carry that yet?" Then they say, "We don't know there's such out there yet. If there are any, we would show two SKU #s for them...probably one for the newer one and one for the old one. For now, we don't know." How on Earth can their sales floor people don't know such? It's ridiculous...

The best thing is just ask to look at a few CPU boxes in person.

While I understand that the knowledge of most sales people vary, I don't think most of people will know what to look for when you ask them if they have a "D0" stepping in stock.

You have to understand on these forums we understand the difference and thats why we look for it, but to a normal person who is just trying to sell a processor and doesnt know the difference then all of this is like a foreign language to them. Probably 99.999% percent of the people in the normal world have no idea what a D0 stepping chip is..

But like jcniest5 said best thing to do is go to a store and check out what they have in stock. It looks like the Santa Clara store just got a restock and wondering if they got any D)'s in stock.

My local MicroCenter seems more knowledgeable than yours. The guy I spoke to said, "We don't have the new stepping in. These here are all SLBCH, you're looking for SLBEJ."

With Fry's, it's a hit or miss for me on knowledgeable sales people.

Santa Clara has no D0 in stock after speaking with the sales dude. Though it might be safe to check personally.

Yeah, Central definitely has some in stock, I was there earlier today to try to price match. They used to price match, but not anymore I guess. I will probably bug the guys at MicroCenter again to let me take a look this time to verify. Who knows, out of the 64 they have I might find 1 or 2 .

Report back if you find anything... Yeah at central they had only bunch left with batch 3849A846 left.

I picked a D0 last week when they were having the no sales tax promotion.

I went yesterday to see if they still had anymore "B" batch D0's left since I saw some last week, but they were sold out already

So, we get the sense that B batch is better then A batch, if I understood it correctly?

I think it's still too early ..... I'm seeing nice clocking from A batches from later weeks.

But I just wanted to see what the hype was with the B batches and see if I could get my hands on one.

In that case, when and if I happen to see both batches, I should get both just for testing...

Are there any people from Detroit here? I heard (from evga boards) that the MicroCenter in Detroit carries the D0.

Well I have my 3520 comming in tomorrow, so depending on which OCs better, I am planning to sell the other one. My D0 batch is from the same one that AT reviewed 3845B027. So far I can do 205x21 2:10 with 1.344 Vcore(full load LinX) on my BR on AIR. I don't want to push it any further on air since I might happen to sell it.

I have my Classified coming this week and should be able to see how far my D0 batch will go. It is an "A" batch. Since I already hit 4.6Ghz I am expecting I should be able to get to 5Ghz with little effort, but we will see. My C0 hit 4.2Ghz with only 1.36v so I am going to test it also. I will end up selling one, but I have a feeling they will both do the same with just slightly different voltages.

The Egg now has the W3520 and the W3540 in stock. W3520 is $299 but you have to pay shipping.
