Well, at least there are still some of us using HR-03GTX's. But I also enjoy seeing the Accelero guys posting (the ones who can actually buy one so far)

I did lap mine, although the base wasn't really too bad, compared to the base of a TRUE! One trick I have been using to keep some of the sanding debris out of the fins and also to keep those fins from slashing your hands up, is to wrap a couple layers of paper completely around the cooler, holding it together with masking tape. (I just used some printer paper).

As for lapping the GPU, that's a bit too scary for me, although I did chat with "ItBurnsWhenIPee", an XSF Forum member who did a thread, well illustrated with photos, on his GPU lapping project. I don't even know if it is still archived or lost in space like so many posts have been at XSF lately

I think you will be fine with the Skythe fan, I have been very pleased with the Skythe twins on mine. That's something that can easily be changed later if you decide to.
Looks like there's plenty of additional airflow in your 1200 to supplement that fan
I kind of wanted an HR-03 anyways your results all around were quite a bit better than Onboard's from TPU forums. It should work pretty well.

I didn't think that the base could possibly be as bad as the TRUE but you never know since this is Thermalright we are talking about here. They make some great products but there is allways something small that needs to be done. Did you happen to do a test before and after the lapping? If so did you notice much of a difference in temps? The idea about the paper is very good. I had to was my TRUE with water and let it air dry which probably isn't the best idea because of corrosion but it was alot better than metal dust blowing against my board.

I can't wait for Jsunn to get his accelero so we can have a real side by side comparison. I bet he'll get some good results.

What can I say about the fan other than the fact that I like overkill and at this point my rig is loud enough anyways. That is one more 120x38mm fan going to do?
