Usually when a CPU isn't supported by the BIOS, it wouldn't come up at all.

As for the keyboard and mouse, try a PS/2 one if the not working ones are USB, and vice versa. It is possible that your windows is trying to install USB drivers for the ICH10R southbridge but can't find them until you're installing the latest Intel INF update from your board's support CD.

    Something similar happened to me.
I tried a PS/2 mouse, but it didn't work. And I can't do anything because the CD doesn't autorun when I put it in. What I'm trying to do is install vista, but it doesn't let me boot with my CDROM. Instead, it always tells me to setup my bios to 'release' my cpu's full potential. Maybe I need to do something there?

    Edit:

Also, at the top of the page it says Marvel something something with bios at the end of it. And I can't remember exactly what it says, but there's something about a spinning group, etc (can't remember the rest, but I'll check). Does that mean anything?

Hey guys, I'm a pretty avid member over at OCN, and since there isn't an active thread about this board, I figured I would ask here.

I'm having some SERIOUS issues getting anything above 3.4ghz stable on my 920. I don't know the batch number of the cpu as i bought it the day it released from tankguys, and never bothered to write it down.

    My System:
    P6t Deluxe w/1403 bios
    i7 920
    Gskill 1333 3x2gb
    TRUE w/ San Ace 1011
    corsair tx750

I've been wondering what are some fairly idiot-proof setting for hitting around 3.6-3.8 ghz. Everyone I know that has this board/cpu combo has been hitting 4.0 ghz with changing the cpu volts to 1.35 and leaving everything else on auto, and I get continual BSOD's doing this.

Anything that can help me out would be amazing.

Voltage settings for anything would be useful.

    Thanks in advance.

ErBall if I was you i would try to raise the QPI/DRAM voltage up to 1.35-1.36v and try again.

I should have mentioned that I already did that.

I'm looking for people who would disclose their bios settings as towards their stable settings. I'm new to the i7 platform so I don't know what voltages are safe to raise or not, and what the limits are for various settings.

I have tried what I was told was the "fool proof" way of leaving most things on auto, and got no where fast.

Pretty sure I did, but I'll try again. How did you guys start up with this board?

Mine was stable full auto up to 4ghz, getting 3.8 with auto should be straight forward to be honest.

What speed are you running your memory at, thats the only thing off the top of my head that could directly limit the oc.

Mine powered right up without doing anything special but it would seem you may have a D0 stepping cpu or a nerfed bios for it to be asking you to update the bios.

Yup, I do in fact have a d0 stepping CPU. I think I've updated the bios to the latest tho. Just one flash to the 1403 is all, right? I don't have to update it by flashing each and every bios?

Edit: I think what I might have here is a retarded windows CD. Setting CDROM as first priority for booting does work, but whenever I enter the windows XP CD, the thing just says NTLDR not detected.

Anyway, now it doesn't tell me to update my bios anymore. Now something just pops up and says hard disk not detected. What should I do?

Well I take it you have keyboard and mouse working now, might want to try hitting f8 during the post screen to pull up the boot device selection screen and select the appropriate device and see if that at least gets you going.

Alright, I'll give it a shot.

Edit: Awesome. I didn't know I could do that by pressing F8. It's installing vista as I'm typing this. Thanks a bunch, m8!

Frankly, I don't get what you're getting at. Could it be that you are translating from a different language? It just looks to me as if you failed to describe to us what's going on in an appropriate terminology. Could you possibly post screenshots? For example taken with a digital still cam?

Hmm... I have been using 9.1.1.1004 from station-drivers for a while now. Are these newer? The date is much newer, but the version number is older??

See that is where I'm confused. I was under the belief that auto would take me to at LEAST 3.6ghz, but I cannot get over 3.4 with auto voltages. Which further confuses me because I thought auto settings would naturally overvolt.

Perhaps I got a bad board, all in all im left with a bit of a sour taste in my mouth after this excursion.

    I do 3.60 GHz with a manual Vcore 1.25V 100.1% stable

Yes, but afaik all chipset releases contain proper drivers for all antecedent chipsets...

    Which should we use?

This is the majority of the responses I have been receiving, and honestly its not helping at all. People telling me what they can run. I get it, most people can run a higher overclock flawlessly, im looking for why mine CANT, not what yours is capable of.

If you have any ideas as towards why I'm running into issues, please let me know.

My memory is 1333 not 1600, but with a blck of 200 i can run 1200 so that should not be a limiting factor.

    QPI/DRAM voltage 1.35
    Vcore 1.35
    Ram volts 1.66
    everything else auto.

This results in nothing but bluescreens past 165 blck.

Why do use Auto settings? I can't do 3.6 on Auto either. Test, adjust test test more. You are asking and people tell you what they can do. How can someone tell you what you can do.

I don't understand why you say you can do an extreme OC, but can't do a small one because you use Auto
