Try with 5-5-5-15 timings and Ai Clock Twister Moderate.

You can also try CPU and NB Clock Skew. Start with CPU Clock Skew delayed 100ps and NB Clock Skew Normal than CPU Clock Skew delayed 100ps and NB Clock Skew delayed 100ps or CPU Clock Skew delayed 200ps and NB Clock Skew delayed 100ps.

A-Grey, u r the real deal!!!(not diminishing other's contributions) Have been following this thread ever since and am currently running my Q9550 @ 495 x 8.5...which i cud never get to be stable above 450MHz before.Currently running vCore @ 1.41; have to try reducing it a bit.and yea, its the Clock Skews that played the most important part in the >450Mhz clocking.I am currently running CPU Clock Skew @ 300ps and NB clock skew @ 200ps.

I need help getting my my Q9650 to 4.2GHz. Every time i try it locks up 10sec into post and if it gets past boot it doesn't load windows. Running 4.00GHz is fine but i want to try for higher clocks.

can anyone offer advice on running a X3370, Geil Dragon 2X2GB 8500 on Forumula?

I have to check my bios version again.

I didn't really get in depth with the OC, only @ 3.84 24/7 under water.

Gaming and crunching, but i want to see if I can push the chip over 4.

The ram doesn't seem to like more then 425-435

She is pretty stable as is, but once in a while (like once every two weeks or so I will get a BSOD, using Vista 64 not standard version though)

The DRAM CLK Skew on Channel A/B changes the DRAM Clock Fine Delays. Changing the the DRAM CLK Skew can help you to get your memory stable. Normally you can leave them on auto. The BIOS seems to handle the DRAM Fine Clock Delays very good.
When your memory runs stable you don't have to change the skew. If it doesn't run stable you can try to delay or advance it to see if it gets better.

The DRAM timings should only be changed when you try to overclock your memory to a higher frequency. Than you can try with longer timings. Or when you run your memory at a lower frequency with memory divider 1:1, you can try with shorter timings.

DRAM Controller Voltage REF can help you stabilize your memory when trying to overclock it. It helps with fine tuning the voltage. It works and there is not much more to say about it.

Changing DRAM Channel A/B Voltage REF makes no noticeable difference.

All these settings didn't let me overclock my OCZ Reaper HPC PC2-8500 100% stable above 1117MHz without dramatically changing the DRAM Timings. My conclusion is that it's best to leave it all on auto.

The only way to find out if your memory can run stable with lower voltage is to run MemTest86+ V2.11. When you can't pass MemTest86+ V2.11 with lower voltage there isn't much you can do about it. Some chips like high voltage others don't.

You're right CPU and NB Clock Skew are necessary above FSB 450MHz.

My goal was 3.8GHz with my Q9450 without leaving the Green voltage zone in the BIOS. The FSB Termination Voltage that under volts with 0.1V on my board makes it impossible. I have to go in the yellow zone in the BIOS and it feels like cheating. Not that I'm worrying about the voltage.

A 8 X 470MHz should still be possible if ASUS fixes the issue with the Memory running above 1200MHz.

If you don't have BIOS 0803 on your board it's time to flash it.

Post your current settings and maybe someone will see what is wrong.

It's a bit off topic but it's interesting to know.

Does anyone knows if there's going to be a version of the Rampage Extreme available that comes with a gun in the box.

If you find the time you should read some of the posts on the ASUS Rampage Extreme forum and you will know why I ask this.

Anyway where doing great on our Rampage Formula with the settings that we've got availlable in the BIOS.

The problem that these guys have at the Rampage Extreme forum is that nobody can give them some input. Without having such a board you can only guess what should be done to fix the problems they have.

Use moderate above FSB 450MHz and a Core2Quad.

Don't delay the CPU Clock Skew more than 100ps more than the NB Clock Skew.

Try lower DRAM Voltage for your 2 X 2 Giga OCZ Reaper HPC PC2-8500 Memory. Use MemTest86+ V2.11 to find what voltage your Memory likes.

    Edit:

When your FSB Termination under volts, 1.20 is to low. You need at least 1.20V real.

Thx mate. In Everest it shows that my FSB VTT is v1.10, should i raise it higher to about v1.35 in bios? Btw. what do CPU TM Function and Execute Disable Bit do? I see a lot of people having them turned off and some having it on.

To give you an idea. For FSB 450MHz I need 1.14-1.16V. For FSB 465MHz I need 1.22-1.24V.

CPU TM Function throttles the clock speed of the CPU when the CPU starts overheating. I always recommend to enable it. Most users will never need it but it's safer for those who struggle with high CPU temperature.

Execute Disable Bit is a safety function that prevents that malicious code gets executed.

I tried your settings and it still doesn't boot into windows. It sometimes hangs on POST and if i get to the windows loading its BSOD and restarts. I almost feel i need to RMA my board and get new rams.

Maybe your memory isn't the same revision like mine and can't run stable above 1081MHz.

I've got one question. Do you need 1.36978V to run your CPU stable at 4GHz?

If so you need around 0.04-0.05V higher voltage for every 100MHz you run your CPU higher.

I don't really know if my CPU really needs v1.368, but in CPU-Z it reads 1.35. My OCZ Reapers are a new revisions i think not 100% sure. I have such bad luck with memory. My Dominator kit doesnt OC well my Reapers dont OC well. I'm looking into buying the G.Skill Pi PC9600 ones, but cant find them here in singapore.

It s*cks with all these revisions. You think you've got a good kit because someone that has the same memory seems to have good luck with that memory. Turns out that you've got a new revisions and that the memory really s*cks.

The G.SKILL F2-PC9600CL5D-4GBPI is a really good memory kit. The bad thing is that the Rampage Formula doesn't like to run with that kit above 1200MHz.

I'm not going to run the rams any higher then 1134MHz. All i want is a good pair of RAM that can clock and be stable with my Q9650 at 4.2GHz. I also have a pair of Dominators PC-8500C5DF and they also can't clock at all. They don't like going higher then 1066MHz. I really have bad luck with rams. I also need to RMA my board because one of my LAN ports got fried in a thunder storm. I'm going to try to find a pair of them G.Skills.

Here's a pic of my system being Linepack stable:

I've lowered my ram voltages to v2.16 and they seem to be linepack stable.

Why use DDR 1134MHz and tRD 7 if you could use DDR 1258MHz and tRD 6 with the G.SKILL F2-9600CL5D-4GBPI kit?

This could be possible if ASUS fixes the BIOS issue to run this memory at +1200MHz.

Save your money, its not worth it. You're better off using that money to get a nice SSD or a nice i7 upgrade in another year or so. There won't be any noticeable differences from your current overclock even if you get new ram or a couple of hundred mhz more.

    Haha... A nice i7 Core.
No thank you. Remember the old netburst days where heat was the biggest problem. These days are back with i7 Core. They clock nicely but need a lot of voltage and make a lot of heat. The first boards are already dying from the heat.

I think I stay with my Q9450 for a while and maybe go for a Q9650 if I want more CPU power.
