It's a little odd, being as SLI performs better with the increased bandwidth of i7. Their entire point is presumably "Buy our graphics cards" however, in the traditional "spend your money on the GPU rather than CPU for better graphics" line of reasoning. This is less about ego than it is about cash flowing into the company.
