    sure, the lowest multi.
I can get to 221 without adding any voltage. But no matter what i do 222 just won't post. It seems many board out there also have this limit.

That's probably just the limit of the current X58 chipset. Revision B3 might fix that.

Is a Rampage II Extreme with X58 rev. B3 available?

    Thank you for your reply.

Do you know if there will be a Rampage II Extreme "v2" model or it will be recognizeable only from serial number?

Either a V2, Rev. 3.01G or 2.02G something. Currently it is Rev. 2.01G. You will definitely notice the difference in revision numbering.

    Question Xeon W3250 issues?

Hello, just mounted the R2E with latest BIOS (1306) and I noted that with my Xeon W3250 D0 cpu I can set the memory multipliers only up to 1:4 and I can choose only two values from BIOS.

i.e. if I set BCLK to 200 MHz, I can choose only 1333 and 1600 MHz as memory frequencies.

Anyone with R2E and a Xeon can confirm this behavior?

This LINK seems to confirm it

I don't have in my BIOS the two controls that are enlighten in yellow:

I can confirm this for you. I have already looked into it a few days ago. Xeon W3520 is fully locked chip. DRAM, Uncore, and QPI are all locked. You only have two options for DRAM, 6x and 8x. You know how they say, if it seems to good to be true (like this chip) it probably is...I knew there had to be a catch with it.

    Question Very poor benchmarks

Just got around to benchmarking my latest rig and was very supprised at the poor results.
Even using the most basic bench of wPrime v1.55, 32M - 8.5+ sec and 1024 is 269.6+ seconds.
This seems very poor to me and when compared to the same CPU and memory of other systems on HWbot.com they are definatly poor.

I have tried almost everything I can think of to no avail.
    Any help is truely appreiciated.

    "MB - Asus Rampage 2 Extreme V2"

Is that a different mobo than the regular RIIE? Wonder what the V2 is all about...

From the template it appears you have disable HT. By doing this with wprime you have reduced the number cores to 4 enable HT then set number of threads to 8 and you should score lower times.

In looking at the wPrime scores on HWBot it does seem that all the low scores are with 4 cores and 8 threads so HT must be enabled. Will give it a shot.

    Thanks for the keen eye.

Enabling HT did lower the scores, but they are still not inline with others.
Will have to go back and do some benchmarking to find the problem.
I am positive that SpeedStep and C1E have to disabled.
Now to test the other settings to see how they affect things.

I use the OCZ Platinum 1600 kit (1x3). Like it a lot. Took it up to 2100, 2000 stable. You can look at my settings in the competition thread in my sig.

I think it's a good kit for the price, and in my experience 100% compatible.

    Exclamation DRAM Voltage

Not sure if this has already been mentioned, but I found out some interesting quarks about the REII today.
If you set the DRAM Bus Voltage to Auto it will push the voltage way past 1.65v in a heartbeat.
Here is some readings from Everest:
    Voltage Values:
    CPU Core 1.52 V
    CPU PLL 1.82 V
    North Bridge Core 1.27 V
    North Bridge +1.5 V 1.51 V
    South Bridge Core 1.32 V
    South Bridge +1.5 V 1.51 V
    QPI 1.50 V
    DIMM 1.79 V

    This is with the Core i7 920 @ 4.6 Gig (B-220 M-21)

Still can not get the WPrime 32 times below 6 sec, even pushing the system this hard.
I have no idea what could be causing this problem.

    Angry Bitten by my OS

After beating my brains out trying to squeze better numbers out of my system. I decided to try a different HD that I had setup with Windows XP 64, Vista Ultimate 64 and Windows 7 (64 bit).
Without even pushing the system very hard Windows 7 and Vista get wPrime 32 results in the very low 6 seconds @ 4.2G.

    ARGH bitten again by MS.

Anyone with R2E and a Xeon can confirm this behavior?

This LINK seems to confirm it

I don't have in my BIOS the two controls that are enlighten in yellow:

It is "only" an ASUS BIOS issue! Have tested this with my GA EX58-Extreme and my W3540. On the GA I can access every Setting like with my Core i7 940. Have wrote to ASUS, hope there will out an new BIOS soon!

    Hello All,

I have just completed a new build: i7-965, 6gb Corsair Dominator GT 1866, BFG GTX 295 in Quad, Vista 64, Thermaltake Toughpower 1200 and the Asus R2E r2 board. One immediate problem I am having is that only 4gb are being reported in bios (1306, 1104, 1205) and windows. However, CPU-Z reports 6gb. Memory is fine, checked it six ways from Sunday. I have seen this issue on other forumns and have tried some of the suggestions to no avail. Is this an RMA issue, bios issue, driver issue, I do not know. Any suggestions would be appreciated...

Sorry if I'm jumping in on this thread or out o fline with the question...

Is V2 out already? Seems like two people stated that already...I thought it won't be out until mid May?
