    WTF! Have threads gone missing?

I could swear threads are disappearing!
Where is the 'x25-fw update' and the 'x-25 OS drive worth it' (or similar titles).
Even checked my statistics to see if I could locate the threads by viewing my posts!

I'm no forum expert, but If I'm right here, and they have gone missing, then this has got to be one of the most unreliable forums I'v ever come across!
And it's a site frikin based on the topic of computers, this is far more than ironic, surely a stronger word needs to be invented!
Tech support should be pretty dam embarrassed, or I should if I'm imagining this!

The only thing you need to be embarrassed about is making commnets without knowing the facts.
Two drives lost during a backup and app 10 days data lost.
It happenned, it wasn't intentional or planned and it's done.
Now we can sit and piss about it or we can get back to work rebuilding what was lost.

Yeah a lot of stuff is gone... With the amount of traffic going through here you would think at least some money would be invested into proper, redundant servers...

Go and price a professionally hosted server that will handle 200,000+ hit's a day, hold a 16 gig database and then have a hot spare standing by.
I think you'll be in for a shock at the cost.

I can believe that it's not the intention for this site to be unreliable, but it doesn't change the fact that it is unreliable, what's going on?

Were these the new drives or some faulty HDD's?

Perhaps the cost is worth it! People have put allot of effort into work logs ect, and all their handwork and time is gone!
People might start thinking twice in future if XS isn't careful

What kinda $ are we talking anyway!

hmm...from what I saw, it's a month, not ten days (at least when I look at my last recorded post now - march 16 - , and from a thread I've been following, that's been updated regularly these past weeks, the more recent post before the downtime is march 25).

edit: now I'm a bit lost, another thread I was following is showing latest post before the downtime April 10 ...as if all threads were not equally "treated" by the data loss hmm...I guess all this doesn't matter as much as, like you said, rebuilding the lost stuff

I am surprised that this has happened again when they were just bitten in the ass with issues just weeks ago. I think they should have taken my suggestion about doing an off-site backup via rsnc over ssh daily database dumps to a remote machine.

I find it ironic that you're so hard on the XS forums folk, but yet with OCZ SSD drives you were so forgiving for them wasting people's time AND MONEY. Their drives were a whole lot more unreliable than these forums and you had to pay money on top of it all.

You probably could have just asked what happened to the servers before you completely insulted the staff as XS. I don't know about you, but I didn't pay a dime for access to the forums, so I don't see how you think you're in a position to complain. Maybe if you sent them a $100 or so you'd have room to complain.

XS- thanks for providing this free forum. I know Rhys doesn't make mistakes, but I'm pretty sure most everyone else does. So, keep up the good work, and I'm sure you've got a better plan for next time something like this happens. That is, if there's one available that is affordable.

Hmmm, did my Snap trap just go off? Lol!

Griff805, from following your posts I thought that's how XS'ers behaved!

I would like to both thank & apologise the XS staff for being the prop. to the point I was trying to make.
