Just wanted to report that flashing the hot swap backplane, management module, and front panel lcd with the firmwares from the SE7520B
D2 resource disk worked out for me. It seems that this board reports itself as the same platform ID (0x0023) as the BD2 board, so it passed the platform compatibility validation that it runs before doing the firmware updates.
I haven't had much luck with the on-board RAID in linux though. It seems that linux sees it as JBOD and the RAID functionality is really just software drivers that are activated with BIOS commands? I would have expected a server board to have "real" RAID support, not the software junk we see on desktop boards.
Then again, the board is so cheap that I can't really complain too much.
The IO shield from the BD2 should get here early next week. I'll post pics once that part is in as then the build will be pretty close to 100% complete as far as hardware goes.
