I'm officially unofficially giving up on this board. Simply put, I shouldn't be having the issues that I'm having. I'm stable at 3.4GHz, but I should easily be able to push my FSB further.

With some great assistance from Dryadsoul I've learned a bit about this stupid Azz BIOS on this board & it's not for impatient people with little time to tinker like myself!!! I bought this board second-hand & the previous owner had this same CPU over 4GHz w/o any problems at all!

I'm on the lookout for a Gigabyte UD3P. At least I'm familiar with the BIOS & there's plenty of others with this combo with successful 4+GHz OCs.

Sorry, there's not many threads on the net to about this board

Don't be too quick to blame the board, the other parts and pieces can also limit the OC. The ram from Crucial is a weak link. There have been many issues with the Ballistics.

I've got 4x2GB G.Skill DDR2-1100 that all passed multiple hours of memtest.

3.6GHz on a Q9550 isn't good enough for me for a $600 investment in mobo, CPU & RAM alone! ....

I have purchased a Gigabyte UD3R board, so I do expect greater things on pretty much the same platform & I'll probably never go back to BioStar again sadly said!

I've learned my lesson though! ... Then again, if I wanted to drop another $250, I could get a decent C2D & get my 4.5GHz overclock on it, but then I'd just have too many tools to play with & we all know how much that sucks!

I got my E8500 to 4.0ghz @1.23V with 40 passes of IBT (100% passed) max load temp of 69C

Gotta love the dual 45nm Wolfdale + TPower i45

Also if you would have done any research on this board you would have realized that it isn't that great of a Quad OCer. This board doesn't have the BIOS settings to optimally clock a Quad, however this is one of the best boards at clocking dual cores.

This is why after winning this board in a G92 OCing competition I immediately picked up the E8500 (being the best clocker/value)

The toy box keeps filling up.
If I remember right, I saw in another forum yesterday , the 9550 was locked or something (where it was not supposed to be) and does not OC very well. That said the 9650 is the one to go with. Curiously I was running GSkill and found Corsair Dominators to be more stable for me. I am running my 8500 about .6GHz over. It is nice and stable.

The EO q9550's will do an easy 471x8.5-4.0ghz on the UD3P board.

I've been noticing a lack of FSB speed stability on my T-Power i45, however I am having no trouble benching 9x500 @ 1.37V, so what is going on here?

My FSB is at 0.250V and my Chipset is at 0.275V with GTL Ref @ 0.63VTT on both with a 1.6V reference.

Is there something I need to do in order to get higher than 500-520FSB? It seems like anything past 520 always crashes no matter what voltages.

If someone could help me I would greatly appreciate it since as we know FSB provides higher gains than raising the multi.

shouldn't be a problem with 1066 RAM running below spec (525 would be 1050)

well it would not be the first time a ocz 4g pair would not go to its rated speed, have you run memtest?
also did you try adjusting your clock skew?

For me FSB 600 with E8600 (multi 6x) is very easy. Just set CPU skew +100ps and it works.
Do not cross VTT 1,35V and vMCH over ~1,4. It works good.
Remember of this memory configuration option (1st option in timing menu).

    Smile hi lads

just bought the board, having a play with it,i wanted to ask when an overclock fails is it a case of having to clear the cmos everytime as thats what i had to do when it failed on me,quite annoying having to do that each time,
i am hoping that i have overlooked something silly and its going to be easier, any help is greatly appreciated
got a e2200 not the best but should overclock reasonably well, lets hope.

Just decrease the overclock retry count to 1, and you'll never have to use the jumper.

anyone here now where a vdroop pencil mod is for this board? I mean one that actually stops vdroop not vdrop...I did the vdrop mod which is labeled as vdroop from some chinese site and it seemed to fix vdrop, for the setting in the bios is exactly what shows in windows now...but that is useless, for if I set 1.352 in bios if I put any load on this thing it drops down to about 1.20 to 1.33 depending on load and it ruins stability...and considering other than hard mods I know no way of getting less than a .5 volt jump on the processor and that's too much for what I'm shooting for. Also anyone in general have luck with 4.5 ghz stable on an e8600 with this mobo? If so I'd like to know you're secrets to success, I'm using linpack testing for it heats it up the most so if the settings aren't perfect it basically fails, so far about 4.4 is highest I can get it seems.

Do you need to run the Aux Graphics Card Molex Power if you using a Dual GPU single PCI-e slot video card? I know you are supposed to with Crossfire cards installed, but I'm not sure with onboard SLI with my GTX 295. If anyone knows please respond.

Q's do not over clock well on this board, the real world record holder is the TP45HP (least it was before) not sure now. Still they do have issue's after being pushed to far, like givng the NB to much voltage.
