Funny thing, I realized a few days when I installed my Thermalright HR-05 SLI/IFX sink on my LT NB that 1) I had to mount the 80x25 fan on the PCI-E slot side because the wireclips interfered with my TRUE, so I used them back to front to mount the fan like a diamond! and 2) The HR-09U VRM heatsink wouldn't clear my 38mm fan on the IO side of my TRUE!

Maybe you guys can help me out here...
Yesterday I finally had some spare time and decided to replace the stock NB cooler with a Xigmatek porter n881, as well as reapply some new AC MX2 and replace the pushpin mounting hardware for my Xig s1283 with a bolt thru kit...
After cleaning, applying TIM, mounting the new HW and reconnecting everything(or so I thought) I booted up the PC but was confronted with a LED code of 88. Like a dumbass I had forgotten to put the memory back in, but even after I did put the memory back in I still have an 88 code. I even went as far as to pull out the cmos battery overnight but nada.
So my question(s), what could I have possibly screwed up?
- corrupt bios?
- killed the NB?
- something else???
I appreciate any help/suggestions!

Try plugging in PS2 keyboard, and hold down insert then power on, dont release it untill it powers off or you see HDD led flash. Sometimes also turn off PSU for 10-15sec, then turn on and do same thing. Sometimes requires few tries but usually gets it going. Try one stick of ram also and make sure that the bolt through isn't too tight.
I've got a Thermalright HR-05 SLI/IFX on my NB with bolt through mounting and I haven't had a problem. Using OCZ Freeze Extreme thermal paste which I figured I'd try for kicks and it's impressed me quite a bit. Much better than AS5 and no set time.
That should do a full cmos clear. It usually works for me when nothing else works.

I removed the vid card in conjunction with pulling the battery out then let it sit an hour or so and bam it works again... But IIRC post code 88 means NB and/or power issue?
All's well, I really don't care about the why, just glad my computer is back up and running(thanks to AC MX2 + Bolt thru kit and new NB several °C cooler too).
Thanks for the help! :cheers:
I didn't get to try this one out but next time I need to do a clear cmos I'll give your procedure a try... Thanks!

What is best bios for this board?
For Quad overclocking.
with my gskill pc2-8800 2gb sticks, which use PSC ics.
I'm using slots A2/B2 as I find they give better delay locked loop skew values on detection with right DLL model.
For my sticks I found the following worked best.
CK Drive = 5, DQ Drive = 7, DLL CH1 = 5, DLL CH2 = 5
Fine Step Degree = 30ps
Ch1 Cross Clocking Flight Delay Skewing = Aggressive
{
Dimm 1 Fine Clock Delay = Current,
Dimm 2 Fine Clock Delay = 15 degrees (450ps),
Dimm 2 Fine Control Delay = 23 degrees (690ps),
Dimm 1 Fine Control Delay = 22 degrees (660ps),
Channel Fine Command Delay = 23 degrees (690ps)
}
Ch2 Cross Clocking Flight Delay Skewing = Aggressive
{
Dimm 3 Fine Clock Delay = Current,
Dimm 4 Fine Clock Delay = 16 degrees (480ps),
Dimm 4 Fine Control Delay = 26 degress (780ps),
Dimm 3 Fine Control Delay = 25 degrees (750ps),
Channel Fine Command Delay = 26 degrees (780ps)
}
Ch1+Ch2 Common Clock = Aggressive
You can try this arrangement too as it works pretty well off the mark.
CK Drive = 4, DQ Drive = 6, DLL CH1 = 6, DLL CH2 = 6
Heres a pic of my LT T2R build!
I'm very happy with ADC24 bios, DFI needs to add CPU and NB clock skew adjustment and the T2R will have a perfect bios. They included Cpu Clock0/Clock1 Skew in the T3RS bios, and having got Asus to add those options to the Rampage Formula bios without hesitation upon request I'm sure DFI would do the same if enough of us wanted them![]()

thanx for ur response mikeyakame,no luck with my mems though.
I am trying for 9*460 5:6 agressive,fast/fast.
My mems are on my sig,Tring with 2.15-2.2V@ rams, -1.45 @nb with no luck ,i do get about 80 errors in the first loop of test5@ memtest.
I was stable @9*460 with 4:5 with my 4*1 ballistix, so i know that the only thing that is messing with my patience is those mushkins.
Any more ideas?
Thanx for your time!

Try.
CK=4,DQ=6,DLL CH1=4,DLL CH2=4.
If CH2 CMD or Control come up as < 100ps, means delay wasnt autodetected correctly. Best thing to do in this case is, boot with 6/8/0/0, save and reboot, then change to 4/6/4/4.
Take note of the differences between CH1 and CH2 for CLK and Control Delays between Dimm1 and Dimm3 or Dimm2 and Dimm4 which ever you are using, and when setting your own delays take that difference into account.
On my board I have about 35-40ps between CH1 and CH2 clk, 130ps between CH1 and CH2 control. Command delay is safe to set same as Control Delay for that channel on slot with memory.
Edit:
Just doing testing with my new Q9550 and these PSC g.skill sticks. Trying to not change skews manually and find dq/ck/dlls that match up without changes. I've tried a few combinations this afternoon so far the one I'm using right now is faring excellent.
DDR = 1066, 5-5-5-15, 2N cmd, MCH ODT = 2, tRFC = 48, tWR = 14, tWTR = 11, tRDWR = 8, tWRWR = 6, tRDRD = 6, tRTP = 3, tRRD = 3, tALL_PRE_REF/ACT = 6
CK Drive = 3, DQ Drive = 8, DLL Ch1/Ch2 = 5, Cross clocking CH1/CH2 = Aggressive, Commonclock = Aggresive, Enhance Data = Fast, Enhance Addr = Fast, T2 = Enabled
Only diff with these and your munchkins is these PSC are low voltage ICs.

Firstly, thank you a lot for your answers.
Been messing up with rams the last two hours and finally i believe that rams stop at 1093Mhz.
Whatever i do they wont go any further.
Will try them tomorrow again and see!
Thanx again.

DFI DK X48-T2RSB Plus or
DFI LT X48-T2R or some other board?
I have 2 4870 512MBs to crossfire that is why I was considering the X48, also have 4x1GB CellShock D9GKX.
I need the highest overall performance for gaming. (so I do not care if I can overclock my ram better if my cpu overclock will suffer)
Thank you![]()
I have a UT X48 TR2, great board, worked great for me for ages. Decided to take the jump to Vista 64 and at the same time go from 4GB to 8GB of RAM. I bought 2 additional 2GB Sticks of the same RAM.
1st time I try to boot with 4 sticks it stops at C1 on the post, flashed to latest BIOS, it boots but plenty of Memory instability becomes apparent. Run Memtest as soon as it gets to the 3rd dimm 4-6Gb it stalls. Run a windows memory checking tool, same again. Did some mucking around and its not a dodgy stick, whatever is in dimms 2 and 4 gives errors, all sticks pass memtest when just 4GB installed.
Memory is PC6400 running at 400FSB and timings are set by spd, tried varying the voltage from 1.8 to 2.1, makes no diff, tried upping the NB to 1.3V, again no improvement.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Inq

Still can't get it stable with Aggressive/More Aggressive, I wonder if having lots of peripherals and drives running DMA mode has a bearing on this.
