Took my Q6600 to new heights!

Do u need 1.58v for 3.8GHz, like have u tried lowering it?

yeah have tryed lowering it cant get prime 95 stable any lower not sure how i can lower vcore and still keep it stable what else can i tweak any suggestions ?

It seems you are not lucky with your CPU. What FSB and multi have you tried?

Above 450 with a 7 multi with a 1:1 ratio
My dominator 1066 @ 900 something, and 666 18

First I did a medium data test with occt and as soon as the first minute was over it would lock up, doing a small data set test would last 5 mins before it would lock up.

Thats when i decided to set everything to its normal settings (except C1E ect) and do a small data test.

Ive completed a second pass of occt small data test and the same error occured. Would it sound right that its the cpu giving me problems. This cpu has been through a P5NT-deluxe and a X48-DQ6 (so its had all sorts of voltages pumped at it) with really unsuccessful OC results.

Obviously, your CPU is a dud for OC-ing. 3.2GHz is still a 25% OC, but it's kind of dissapointing for a G0. At least you know that you have tried everything that you could do. More luck next time.

Ouch, that's disappointing. Why such a low multiplier? I'm sure you have but I'm going to ask anyways, have you tried 9x400 and somewhere around 1.4v? That should easily get you to 3.6Ghz. TBH I've never heard of a G0 not hitting that mark.

He tried x9 multi and his CPU failed, so I recommended him to try lower multi. Some CPUs can OC better and/or with less voltage using a lower multi. But, he really was so lucky to have one of the crapiest Q6600 for OCing.

If you can get Q9550 that would be completely different story. 4GHz on air should be a piece of cake, unless your luck comes into play again.

Also after my quick OC session I went to play some games and I accidentally set my Vcore to 1.2375v (BIOS) and OMG it worked

1.24v @3.6GHz even if it is not P95 stable is very impressive. It should need 1.45v to be same stable @4GHz.

Its actually 1.2v for 3.6GHz (after vdrop)

Also It ran Prime 95 for a min. I could have run it longer, but I didn't feel like it.

I had my Q6600 set @ 1.42v 3.4 ghz stable everything on my ga-x38-dq6 but could push it to 3.6 ghz max on air w/out constant issues... ?? never went over 1.5v however??? for the same token I was hoping to get 4ghz stable on my q9650 and havent been able to get it over 3.95ghz stable on air but then again Im running 4 sticks of 2 gig ocz reaper 1066 and waiting on my maximus formula to be rma'd back to me before I start pushing again....

Managed to get 3.6 prime stable with as low volts as i could...



Not bad i'd say ! Trying to see what i could get @ 3.7 So far i'm 2 hours in @ 1.392v load.

Gona be getting a new motherboard soon, most probably a EP45T-UD3R !

Get a UD3P, don't get a T version, the DDR2 versions are as good or better then DDR3 and since u already have DDR2 it will save you some money

I was using around 1.45.

Ive re-read my first post and when i said stable that wasnt entirely true it was just stable in windows i never tested it with OCCT.

Might be worth a try to put my OCZ pc9600 back in and test tho..

I was thinkin the same until i came across an OCZ 2x2 12800 kit for £75 So i'll be getting that. Also, there isn't any real (overclocking) difference between the R and the P is there? I won't be using crossfire, dual lan, or ultra TPM.. Maybe a more updated BIOS, but soon enough the R will also have updated BIOS's.

Whats the safest Voltage to run 24/7?? i just put my q6600 under water and at 1.5v its fine at 4.05ghz but it wont hit 4.15 without somtehing like 1.608v under load :-/
