Some results for my i7 920. In my eyes (anyone may think different) an overclock is only an overclock when it's at least 8 hours prime stable (on all cores).

    Results so far:

    4GHz boot(official CPUz)
    Overclock: 3570MHz (21x170) - Primed
    Bus speed test: 210MHz

    Results sheet

    Hardware used:

    Processor: Intel Core i7 920
    Batch: Batch: 3841 A628
Cooling: Swiftech Apogee GTX, BIX, SW MCP600, 6L water reservoir (old pic)
    Mainboard: Gigabyte GA-X58 UD5
    Memory: 6 GB (2 x 3) MUSHKIN PC12800 (1600 MHz cas 9, 1.5-1.6v)
    Graphics Card: ATI Readon HD4870
    Case: Antec Twelve Hundred
    PSU: Corsair TX-750W
Intel Core i7 920 Watercooled (Swiftech Apogee GTX, BIX, SW MCP600)
    Gigabyte GA-X58 UD5, 6 GB MUSHKIN PC12800
    ATI Readon HD4870
Antec Twelve Hundred with Corsair TX-750W

Taking it easy in prime until I upgrade the cooling but here are some longer run low vcore sessions.

http://s150233688.onlinehome.us/prime36lv.jpg - Almost 24 hours hit 82C max with HT off at one point dropped back to whats in the screen shot when I turned the AC on 76F - 1.085v in BIOS

With a small change in case fan configuration and tiny drop in vcore

http://s150233688.onlinehome.us/prime36lv2.jpg - 1.075v BIOS - 8 hours - stopped at the hottest part of the day about 10C less than before

    http://s150233688.onlinehome.us/prime38.jpg - 1.145v - 10 hours - temps 80/77/88/73

Results posting for the 3.8Ghz run

    3844a361
    i920 Asus p6t deluxe

    cpu in BIOS - 1.145v
    qpi 1.35v
    mem 1.6v
    HT off
C1E on (to keep idle temps low)
CState on (to keep idle temps low)
Memory OCZ 1333 7-7-7-20 running same timings at ~ 1200

Why is it hardly anyone is running above 4Ghz anyway? Although I notice you need quite a bit more Volts at some point for every step you take, Im right now testing 4.3Ghz with 1.408V and my cores are between 50C and 57C

I understand that not every board or CPU can do what others do, but I guess there should be more people getting those results. Since this is well in Intel's spec'd values Im slightly confused why no one is seriously going above 4Ghz according to the spreadsheet

Either you have much better cooling, room temps, etc or less amps leakage. Pay attention to the peoples temps that are running below 4Ghz If I run prime it will hit 100C and throttle right away even though I'm only at 1.225v for 4Ghz. Single threaded I can run benchies all day long (look at CPU-z because Cstate already dropped on coretemp). Believe me I will eventually switch to water cooling again and not have a problem with 4.2-4.4 24/7.

Cooling is in sig. Although quite a few people with WC use a Thermochill PA3.120, I guess the difference wouldnt be that shocking compared to my TFC X-Changer 480. Then again some people put other stuff in their loop too, but would that like justify a 20~30C rise of the temps

Being on water is the reason you don't have temperature problems

I'm on water, and I have temp problems with my Core i7 when overclocking, although I don't have a huge radiator like you do.

I am now running the RAM at 8-8-8-20-1T though. That screenshot has it at 8-8-8-25-1T. The chip is 4.1-4.2 benchable with 1.44v, but 4GHz is the sweet spot for 2000MHz RAM.
I have the same one. I'm going to give it a try.
Good to know it's a good one...

Batch # 3839A529 (Can't find this batch mentioned anywhere).

Running comfortably at 3.8 (19x200). Prime95 for 11 hours... Can't seem to get IntelBurnTest to run (fails instantly). Linx however runs for as long as I want it to.

Edit: Forgot to mention vcore=1.264v (CPU-Z)

So when is VTT Voltage needed the most? AFAIK when you run high RAM speed you'll need it, I guess this has partly to do because of Uncore=2xhigh RAM speed. Blck? Big or small increases in VTT needed? General CPU OC'ing, needed at all?

Is the Heat!! The majority have conventional air cooling and 3.8 is what we are limited in terms of temp wise.

Ok this was it. Call my processor dead. Died while swapping my cooling paste. I did not do anything special but clearly it was still enough.

Hey guys can I ask you how i can find the lowest possible QPI/DRAM Voltage? 1.35V is the max but with what kinda programs, tests I can test specific for the QPI stuff???

NEVER back off to where its more than .5v lower than your DRAM voltage.

If there's one thing I learned with i7, a little hour OCCT or Prime doesnt say anything at all.

Run Intelburn Test and Prime95 Small FFT's together, let that run for a few hours, then you can be pretty sure it's stable

I got 4.3Ghz stable, but the extra Volts required over 4.2Ghz is insane. Ill just go with 4.2Ghz, testing minimal Volts now

I have a choice to select from these i7 920 batches:

    3841A709
    3841A712
    3836B177

Which one should I go for if I want to go over 4GHz?

what kinda Vcore you need for an oc?
