I don't see why not. I think you could just add another 2x2gb kit.

I doubt you'll get any memory to run a full 1066 on that board. Most 780i boards I have seen top at about 1000 or so with 4 modules. It will depend on you individual memory controller.

Why? Crucial sticks are great. I have 4 2x1 sets, 2 sets are double sided tracers, been running for nearly a year @ 2.2 volts and no problems. The single sided ones are running 2.2 also and don't OC that bad.

Most people that I see posting this are people that have RMAd several consecutive sets of Crucials. There are threads about this on a lot of forums.

Maybe I'm just extra lucky to have 2 D9GMH that haven't failed in a year @ 2.2 volts.

They make single sided D9 chips? Explains why my single sided ones clock so well.

FWIW I ran 8gb of Mushkin at 1066+ on my Rampage board for over a year, with no problems.

Makes sense as the Rampage memory controllers were very strong.

Sorry for the threadjack. I'm using what my sig says. Would I be able to run 8gb (4 sticks) at 1066 of 8500c5d? My MB is supposedly good at ocing ram... I've read at the corsair forum, but didn't find a thread with my MB.

It is hit and miss and varies from individual board to board. Some will, some won't. Memory controllers vary in their OCing just like CPUs and RAM.

I know this is the corsair forum, so delete if inappropiate but the geil black dragon 8gb 1066 kit might be something for you? I got the pc6400 ( ddr2 800 ) version which will clock to about 900 without needing high volts, and this is on a p5w dh so I'd recon a newer chipset shouldn't have much problems running the higher grade kit at the 1066 you want. 4x2gb on I975 is pretty rough, it did lower max fsb on my board.

The brand of memory or memory voltage does not matter. It's the memory controller and its ability to handle 4 modules. And, the OP is asking about a 780i. I'm not saying it can't be done but, I've never many if any 780i boards go over about DDR1000 running 4 up.

Hey YellowBeard, What is the general concensus about the controller on Asus' Formula II ? Thanks. I'm thinking of sticking another 4GB set of Ascent and going 64bit.

I'm in the same boat with Nanometer up there. I have the same sticks and can reach maybe 1010mhz if I go nuts, but it's far from stable. 1k is about as high as I can go to keep stable.

I'm using the DK X48 offering from DFI.
