Building a Sossaman rig?

Now i have read this thread a bit now- so I apologize if I ask something that has most likely been asked. But basically these Sossaman rigs are very basic machines with pretty good cpus- in a sense are these diskless? or are they run on linux to keep the cost down?

Of course, with questions like these maybe I shouldn't ask but, I would love to put a few together to crunch away. Though if I have some of this correctly some of the parts are hard to come by in the US.

Observing also that folding crunching data is in some aspects a small financial commitment-using the system but drawing more power than usual. Though maybe I am mistaken- am I confusing this for a small size folding farm

Resistor is off, just made up the jumper to go to ground.
Damn is this fine work and yes, I have very steady hands and working under 15X magnification..
I can read the numbers on the resistor..
