I think this one most likely adds the microcode for the new D0 stepping cpu's, as per the latest P6T bios
ok getting futher on my problem
it boots with an 8600 gpu in there
so im gussing

Hi all. I'm just about to go for 4.0 on a 920 w/TRUE and Corsair Dominator 1600s. I'll probably go for 190x20 and ensure its stable there, and then head up to 200x20. I have all the power saving features and stuff off (no speedstep, no C1E etc..). Hyperthreading is on, and I'd like to keep it that way.
Can anyone suggest voltages that should take me there? I hear CPU voltage should be 1.35 or so. I don't intend to bring Bclk above 200 or anything. I keep hearing conflicting reports if I should set any of the other main voltage besides CPU to anything except auto. I'm on Bios 1104.
Edit: Testing with 1.35 CPU and 1.65 RAM I've gotten through one LinX pass, taking it to 80c under load. Is this okay? Its around 45 idle. Also, my RAM has defaulted to 2T - think its safe to set it back to 1?
Thanks!

I started my recent overclocking efforts with a 920 with everything on auto to start. If you read some of the guides it will talk about finding your max Blck, max multipler and max memory. I went through those procedures to see what type of a combo I could run 24/7 and actually after two weeks I'm still fiddling with what combo I like the best or what will remain stable. Right now I'm testing 216 for bus and seeing how much voltage I have to push the cpu to to hit 4000-4200, anticipate backing off the 216 bus because the board wants to run QPI at around 1.45-1.47 at that high of a bus speed with QPI set to Auto. Good luck with your trials, it will take some time if you're looking to exact max performance with reliability.
Ok guys I need some advice...
I posted a few days back, maybe a week how I was having problems with cold boot hang at DET DRAM. However, yesterday and today some stranger things started to happen. Yesterday I got DET DRAM hang on restart and a few minutes after shutting down. I also got a BSOD while booting Vista. Today I got 2 BSODs, at least 5-6 DET DRAM hangs, 2 boot hangs, and one reboot while doing some testing with Memtest HCI (never had a problem before). I also noticed one other big thing...my IOH voltage, it has a massive droop, like anywhere between 0.05V to 0.1V up to 1.28V or so on IOH. Past 1.29V IOH the measured voltage will not climb past 1.214V or so regardless of what is set in the BIOS. Basically, if I set 1.29V I get 1.21V, if I set 1.35V I get 1.21V, if I set 1.5V I get 1.21V. No matter what I cannot go past 1.21V IOH voltage.
Could somebody measure the IOH voltages when they are set manually on their boards, especially past 1.29V?
Could the board be failing in general? If it is I am trully considering moving away from R2E much in the same way that cstk1 did...
Bah!#$%#^&% i7 platform!

I assume you are using a mm to read those voltages? something seriously not right there if you are, Ill check mine today and report back.
sorry to hear this is happening to you. Im not really having those kinds of issues but am seriously looking at other boards right now im not overly impressed with the board I must say. I dont think this board warrants the 'extreme' tag it has in name and price by any means,.

It does sound like it could be on the way out, could the bios have become corrupt somehow? im sure you tried both bios's on the board. my dmm readings look ok btw.
so maybe you need to rma that board?
I dont know about where you live but here in the uk, Asus rmas take forever [6-8 weeks!] I always hope I can get the retailer to swap my boards if possible. the Asus direct process really sucks here.
Give me a link to the BIOS 1201.
What you have set for QPI voltage DDR 3 1800 cl8 (OCZ 1800 cl8) ? U need me DDR 3 1.44v. Intel says about 1.35v?
Sorry for my bad English.

So while the board may not be fine as well due to the IOH voltage issue it seems that it was infact the DRAM causing the problem. This morning no matter what I did I could not boot. Started taking out memory sticks and seeing which ones I can boot with. All but one are okay. One stick as soon as it is installed in any slot, with other sticks or by itself will cause DET DRAM hang or LOCKED hang respectively.
I already contacted Corsair to request an RMA so I'm waiting for their email. I have to figure out a way to set up an advanced RMA though as I cannot be left without memory even for a day.
What an extremely strange issue though. No test tool showed anything, for weeks, that is up until yesterday. Well, even that was just reboots and BSODs not actual memory test errors (just reboots and BSODs).

I got a weird issue, I set my corsair dominator 1600s manually to 8-8-8-20 1n settings in bios and 1.38 qpi and 1.576 for dram. If I go any higher than 1.6v on dram I lose 2 gigs out of the 6. But anything under 1.6v dram its all 6 gigs and runs everything all day long. What is up with that? I left everything else at stock speeds. Only things changed are, qpi voltage, dram voltage, I set the uclk to 3200 and qpi to 6400.

I've got a situation that has me stumped so I need some help or input from everyone here. I've been playing with the adjustments on the board for about a week and if I run the BLCK past 195 I can get it to post all the way up to 219 but when I place it under load at 206,208,216, or 219 the system shuts down within 10-20 minutes as if it is overheating. I am montioring the temps and haven't seen cpu temps over 68 and nb,sb temps that go over 50.
I have adjusted all the various voltages in trying to get stability but it is alusive. I've run cpu to 1.45 and it will read up to 1.48, QPI to 1.425 but I've seen AUTO readings to 1.47, DRAM is at 1.65, I've even tried adjusting IOH, ICH and pushed those to 1.12 looking for the stability that I'm not getting. After the shutdowns the board will reboot itself after around 5 minutes and post fine at the settings used going all the way to windows and then I start over, if I load it same thing happens and if I make some adjustment reboot and then load it I end up with a shutdown anyway. I can't figure out what would be causing a thermal shutdown because readings from Real Temp or Asus Probe are all in an acceptable range that shouldn't cause a thermal shutdown---help...........
best way is use a dmm, asus probe is not in my experience reliable, it seems to be all over the place. that software has been like that for a few years.
I definitely think there is some design flaw with this board through the voltage regulators somewhere, these similar issues keep popping up.
If I wanted a board that would run at 3.8 fully stable then this board is perfect, though I could have spent less money and bought something that can do the same.
We only have to look at the dfi and Evga boards to see that somehow they are getting this platform right. they really shafted asus on this platform this time round so far at least. its a good board the r2e but not good enough for the cost of it im afraid, tags like 'extreme' should not be used if the item is not up to it. the x48 version warranted that tag for sure but this one, no way.
i uploaded Bios 1201 for the Forum now
say thx............

Sadly I kind of have to agree with that. I have not tried the other boards but from what I am hearing you are right on the dot with this comment. I may just pick up a DFI board (<$400 CAD here) and give it a whirl, and sell off the R2E. Can't believe I'm thinking about that. I've used Asus as far as I can remember back.

Hey what do you guys think of the new Rampage II Gene???
It'd be a good board for lan box's and whatnot. or how about a badash HTPC haha
