A little bit off topic, but I did some modifications to my CoolIt Freezone Elite cooler and the results are spectacular to say the least. 4.2GHz at 1.39V roughly with HT on and temps at or below 70C under full load on all 4-cores/8-threads. You can see my build log here...

    http://www.coolitsystems.com/index.p...atid=4&id=3414

Still need to get that PSU to try out the theory that it is what is causing the DET DRAM hang at boot and not the board. At least I seem to have figured out a new system to boot. When it does not want to boot I leave it idling on DET DRAM for about 3-4 minutes, then hit the reset button. The system will then boot fine after.

Does anyone know what revision Asus will name their new board after the new X58 revision/stepping is implemented on the R2E? Right now, isn't it Rev. 1.01G? Maybe it will be named Rev. 2.01G then? Remains to be seen.

Current one is 2.01G. Maybe it will be 3.01G? I do not think it really matters. The only chipset improvements are to the IOH components so it will not affect anything really...

It is a great starting point and will put most of your setting in order.
From there we can make suggestions on what might be causing the problem.
You should be able to get to the 200 bclk with not much problem.
yes i have tried them already. but it still doesn't work ):

    Yeah i know, some Core i7 920's just don't want to run @ 20 x 200

    1. Core i7 920 batch#: 3836A875 would not even boot @ 20 x 200 HTon or off, no mather what voltage it was running at Max on this one was 19 x 200 HTon, sold
    2. Core i7 920 batch#: 3835A766 runs @ 21 x 200 HTon Prime95 stable and 21 x 210 HTon benchable Currently in my rig.
    3. Core i7 920 batch#: 3835A766 from a friend that i'm testing, will boot @ 20 x 200 HTon but isn't Prime95 stable, no mather what voltage, 21 x 191 HTon is about the max for this cpu.

Its all about luck off the draw, if you realy want one that can run 20 x 200 sell this one and buy another one and hope for the best

New 4.2GHz overclock that I stabilized yesterday, 21x200MHz at just 1.360V in CPUZ (1.376V actual). Here is a screen of a run I did with it this morning. Decided to open the balcony and let some fresh air in. Ambient temps around 17C.

64C on the hottest core using LinX (Linpack) 20-pass run with my new cooling setup running a customized CoolIt FZE with a Swiftech MCR220-QP rad and micro res in the loop.

One strange thing I noticed is that I have about 10C-12C discrepancy between the hottest and the coldest core when I load all cores at 100%. I tried reseating the block several times, changed TIM around a lot, shook everything multiple times to remove air over the last 3 days, topped off the pump as much as it can take, everything I can think of...still, can't bring the hottest core closer to the coldest core. Maybe 5C would be reasonable, but 10C-12C seems a bit excessive for a temp difference.

Any ideas why this would be the case? I feel like if I can solve the core difference problem I could drop another 4C-5C off the load temps.

To any members who have installed two cards for SLI-are there any voltage adjustments to make to increase stability for that configuration? I just installed a secind 285 and had to go out on an errand, when I returned I found the system had rebooted during the time I was gone, I can only assune that I need to make a couple of adjustments for SLI to be more stable. I had a video window up on the desktop and was moving some files from one hard drive to another--thanks for any help

Does anyone know the exact change Intel is coming out with on the IOH? Better voltage/droop=running cooler, new features, etc...can someone list them here?

I switched from 1x280 to 2x280 two months ago. No instability has been introduced or special settings required. Perhaps clean out your video driver and install again....check the temps of the cards, stress test...the usual stuff of trying to consistently trigger a fault, etc.

Could be a number of things as you know, have you tried one card? easiest way is strip the rig, start with the basics [psu board cpu ram gpu] if that doesnt boot, the issue is one of those five. if it boots, build the system piece by piece till it fails that way you will know where the stumbling block is.
really the info you have is too wide ranging to pin point anything at the moment. gut feeling says graphics but gut feelings mean nothing without the process of elimination.

    Hi guys,

Does anyone have already done a RAID1 configuration (i mean a mirroring) for 2 of his Data Hard Disk to increase the security, with this motherboard ?
I would be happy to get a tutorial how to do it...

    Thanks a lot

For Prime testing I typed QPI 1,40V instead of 1,34V That was stable for sure (20 x 200)
But usually 1,40 ist too much isnīt it? Board is cooled by Fusion block. BCLK 205 does not work, maybe CPU is having a wall.

This is my first X58. Just had a P965 before, so I do not have much experience in that chipset.

Turbo did not work, when I set Multi to Auto at 200 bclk I get a bluescreen Only fixed at 20 it works

    for higher bclk

    the trick is
first test the qpi voltage to the ioh/ich pair ( dunno why ppl dont believe this)..
the ioh/ich pair is the one that is vital to do high bclk..from booting and even stability
heck a lot of the time random errors were caused by this.
only after finding this can u find the correct vtt voltage.. till then happy overvolting..
mine started with 1.6v for 4000mhz and in the end settled for 1.48v.

so increasing ioh/ich should make higher bclk possible?

    yup...
    i had a fluke
i had put some silly ioh/ich voltage and then was booting 220 bclk

then later i thought lets to do the basics from 200 to 220.. and started undervolting the ioh/ich ( thought it wasnt important)
    couldnt reach 220..
so retrace back and found it was the ioh/ich ..of course the vtt is correlated.
    try it..
    222 no post
max on this board is 221 for my proc.
    also here is where it ends up being 220 = 219.8 , 221 = 220.8, 222=220.8

hmmm what could be a voltage limit for ioh/ICH? I do not know much about it yet...

also give u another example of clocking for this board on 200 bclk uncore 4000 experience
    ioh 1.10
    ich 1.10
    vtt 1.55set read 1.5v

memset will fail in 90% and if u watch ure probe etc ure vtt ioh will jump to 1.24v after this error.
reboot 1.28v set read 1.24v ioh ich 1.1v
memset will fail in 1200% but will get weir error once in a blue moon with pc probe booting ...
pump ich to 1.24.. vtt set at 1.535, read 1.48v memtest passed 5000%..

    hope this helps..
plug in dominator gt.. working fine with the setting above at 1.65vdimm but only 8-8-8-24..
also take note still dont get it
same os no fresh installation at that point dfi x58 2000mhz CL7 bandwidth is roughly the same as r2e 2000mhz CL8..
usually u will get 1k more with CL7..with everest 5.0.. tested it a few times.

oh yeah forgot to mention this
assuming u found the right skewing

in my past experience with r2e and also this mobo
best set cpu to normal and nb to 200
or cpu to 200 and nb to normal depending on what ure rams/cpu/uncore is running at.
