Some rough luck for me, the chip I ordered yesterday came in...there is only one B batch chip in the whole Q9560 post to worry about and what do you know THAT'S the one I get L834B631. They are sending it back for me..I'll get a different one on Monday.

Hi all i have a qx9650 and i just cant hit 4ghz with low vcore it needs like 1.5 vcore to be stable in prime95 im on me second qx9650 as i rma the first one thought it was a bad one and they sent me out a new one.But this board i just cant get that golden 4ghz at low vcore 1.45 is max for this chip im watercooled so temps aint really a problem have tried every possible combinatin just wont have it ,must have a crap board .

That sucks...if you read the Q9650 thread it seems the newer stepping since the QX version is better for overclocking. Maybe you should sell the QX and pickup a standard Q9650. Probably won't even cost you anything. Sangrak's Q9650 is doing 4ghz on the 790i and that's with 8GB's of ram to boot!

I'll post my results maybe tues or weds see how it goes for me.

    right dude

Not a crap board, so easy to blame the board, you dont know how to overclock the board is probally it. I went thru my share of frustrations with this board, very very picky and hard to overclock, but can be done with patience.

Anyone know if there is a program available that will allow GTL adjustments from Vista desktop?

Also what's up with nvidia's "performance" section in the nvidia control panel, voltage adjustment buttons are there but greyed out. Sure would be nice if I could make adjustments without rebooting for every attempt.

    dont think it exist

I have not heard of a program that you can tweak gtl voltages inside windows, i know alot of people use RAISE FSB its a tweak program in windows to raise fsb, and other things, not sure about gtl voltages.

1900Mhz Cas7? Wow thats really good for such motherboard! Stop trying to make me change my RAM!!!!

Btw, 1.92 in BIOS right? That would mean that you are really giving the RAM ~1.96v

First off let me say thanks to all the contributors here in this thread. It's been very helpful in achieving my goal. As you can see I don't post often but I'm a frequent visitor. I typically have lots of question like many but thankfully I've found most of my answers through search. Beside that, ones post counts doesn't always reflect a contributors worthiness anyways. So take the following with a grain of salt. All I'd like to accomplish is helping someone else out who is searching for the same answers we all are. I find bios setting the most helpful and wanted to contribute my 2 cents worth. Pay back so to speak. So, I Hope this helps somebody. At least it's a starting point for someone with similar specs.
    Again, Thanks to All!

    triple channel

No it was 1.92 acual, pretty nice kit, well now we know is not a issue to run triple channel kit on this board, i was able to get to the windows load screen at 2000 mgz cas 7, but it bsod everytime no matter what i changed, but then again its only a 1600mgz kit, what do u want, those 2000 cas 7 dominators are looking really nice . The weird thing is this kit is rated cas 8 8 8 24, but the bios reads them as 7 7 7 20, which is even better. Do i have to be the guinea pig around here.

I was hoping to buy a 1800mgz kit from frys, but the fastest they had in triple channel was 1600mgz, i paid $99 for these, there like $140 on newegg, wow thats a surprize, i think a good cas 8 1800mgz kit would do 2000+ easy. This kit i tested just wanted nothing to do with 2000mgz, weird cause the board would boot at 2100 cas 8, but i could never get into windows, even with higher voltage, no matter what i tried 2000 was just not going to happen.

Update i was looking around this forum and i found these http://www.memoryc.com/products/desc...GB_/index.html there is a guy here using these on a x58 and getting 2100 cas 8, 2200 cas 9, and there a triple channel 6 gb kit, for a decent price, im going to try them on this board, should do 2100 cas 8 easy. Here is the thread on them http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=218171 well i hope they will do 2100 cas 8 on this board, but i dont see a problem, and its 6 gig kit, yeahhh baby.

1.92 actual, thats really (I mean really) good!
this information is considered really valuable, nobody (afaik) did this before so I dont consider you a guinea pig

So I guess you will be getting a new striker II soon? Im actually surprised with your results, I thought 2kMhz Cas9 was basically the limit on this board, but I guess I was wrong, which is good. I dont plan on upgrading anytime soon and I like to know I can go higher if needed

    Hey Slim

Well i dont mind being a tester, its funnnnn funnnn. That kit i did some more testing, i was able to get into windows at 2050mgz at cas 8, and run everest, but i couldnt get cpuz, or memset to load, so i said forget it. Im at 2040mgz right now at cas 8 with my ballistics, so whats the point.

What i liked and was surprised about was the 1900mgz cas 7, thats pretty good for a 1600mgz kit. I bet your diablos will do 2050 maybe 2080mgz on this board. I really want to get my hands on the xtreem team 1866 6gig triple channel kit to test. The low voltages on those kits is great.

I have a few more days with my board, then i have to give to my neighbor, now i sort of wish i didnt sell it to him, with alot more memory options with the i7 stuff working.

I want to try the evga 790i ultra sli, from what i see, and have read, its a better overclocker than striker 2, and there cheap right now $200 brand new on ebay, so im not sure what to do at this point. I wish you would get pushing that board of yours man, put a fan on the nb and start clocking.

I picked up 2 9800 gtx overclocked cards on ebay for a really good deal, and there brand new..

Tried your settings owcraftsman was stable for 48mins then core one fails,it seems to me it allways fails at that mark 45-48 min mark in prime95.Any more sugestions most welcome also it could be the ram settings to as mines is Corsair 4GB 12800 Dual Channel DDR3 Memory TWIN3X4096-1600C7DHX 7-7-7-20@ 1.9v has when i do small fft it can run much longer so i persume its the ram that fails on the forth test in prime95.I have ran memtest for 12hrs and passes with no errors so weired.

    prime 95

More than likely your cpu is causing the failure, why dont you post your settings up.

The Diablos are begging me to be overclocked. I have to do too many things to get my board ready for air overclocking, but if I get better (I have a cold) maybe during the weekend, but I seriously wished I had a quick NB/SB solution that would give me good temps.
