you can do it right here on XS(see manage attachements button below) pic just has to be under 200kb. I use photo editor to change size to 1024x768 medium quality to get under 200kb.

Hey Trigger, I remember too much VTT made my system unstable.
You could try 1.30 VTT and check with NB between 1.48-1.56.

    Awesome thx

Looks like I maybe 1730 stable @ 8-8-8-22(prime stable for 35mins now). No volt changes from my 1702 settings. I think the tRRD 1 tRC 31 & TWR 10 made all the difference.

Here's the speed it gives me.

Edit...Nice L1 & L2 cache improvements with that Q9650. Tempting no doubt...I was reading the Q9650 thread..guys are hitting 4.4 pretty easy, but not with our motherboards or 8GB of RAM.

Glad to see you're making progress.

Yeah, the Q9650 is a GREAT oc'er. I haven't really tried to oc it more since I need this comp for my daily work and I don't want any weird crap to happen while I'm on a deadline. Just wanted to hit 4.0 ghz 24/7.

1730 stable for 45min in Prime..stopped to try 1740. Get this I'm loosing about 150 points of mem write performance vs 1730. Some sort of fsb hole here?

Edit: New version of Everest is probably responsible... just ignore. 1740 just failed prime.

    nice

You making progress, i would say a q9650 would do 4+ easy on this board, this is one of the better quad overclocking boards, i bet you could get 2000 linked with 8gigs of memory with a q9650.

    Its been fun

I want to thank all you guys for helping me also, i want to do some serious benching, and i have pretty much hit the end of the road with this board. I have been reading the rampage extreme thread, that board is a overclocking monster, so i will play with that board for awhile.

Take it easy, man. Have fun with your new board!

Trigger, how are things shaping up?

I just bought another Striker II, since I have so many spare parts laying around. Just needed another mobo to complete another system. Figure I can test stuff out on this second system without jeopardizing my important work crap on my main system.

Haven't had alot of time since Monday. Basically I got to 1730 prime 95 stable for 1 hour with my 1702 settings and voltages. I need to run Prime longer to see if it's a 100%.

Been thinking hard about upgrading to the Q9650...depends on what happens with my 9450.

Do you think it's possibel to get your 9650 w 8GB linked and synced at 2000? What would that be CPU speed for you?

Not sure if that's going to be possible on air with my cpu (I'm using a lapped TRUE.)

I'm swapping my system into a new case, but I'll do some case-less benching to see if I can hit 2000 once I get done with my real-life crap later this week.

    Hey Trigger

Well still waiting for new board, so im still a official striker 2 guy. Trigger you should be able to get a q9650 2000 linked no problem, that processor will run 4+ghz easy, you will have to tweak the gtl voltages for sure to get there, but i see no problems, then with 8 gigs of ram at 2000 linked, your flyinggggggggg.

    Slim

Here you go slim, dont think triple channel memory will run on 790i boards, look at this link, this guy is selling tripple channel kit that does 2150 mgz on 790i chipset at 1.85, i told you it will work no problem. Makes me think twice about getting rid of my board.

Hey Sangrak...do you know the batch number for your CPU?

The Q9650 thread say's batches with B are best. Only A batches available to me locally. I don't want to pull the trigger on a crappy overclocker.

Well, the box has a 'Bx' on the code, so I'm assuming it's a batch B version.

Edit: on second thought, it's definitely a batch A. Doesn't matter, it OC's really well. I really don't think you have to concern yourself over it. The temps on the cores are really nice, even when running high volts.

Ordered the chip today, I'll have it tomorrow. I have to take what I get, not too concerned now. Thanks. I pray I can get 4.0ghz out of it with 8GB's anything more would be nice but not required, If I get less I'll be disappointed for sure.

Don't think you'll have a problem getting to 4ghz. From what I've read, it's a pretty common OC with this chip. Look at me. I'm always unlucky with the cpu's I get and I'm able to reach 4ghz on air, no problem. You've got water cooling so you should be able to hit a far greater OC than me.

    hey guys

4ghz is no problem trigger, this board and that cpu walk in the park. That aint my buddy with the ram, i have just seen that he is selling all kinds of his stuff lately, and i noticed that the dominators he is selling did 2150mgz on his 790i board, and there tripple channel, but the bad thing about it, cas 9, im not interested in anything cas 9, cas 8 i would have bought them, i dont know much about the spd thing your talking about.

You going to have to play with the gtl voltages for sure, quads overclock very differently than dual cores.
