The stock timings are 8,8,8,24, 1t. I've changed them to that, and I can now run 3 passes of Linx before the system locks. So I guess I'm making progress. I didn't think it would be so hard to run ram at stock.

well... IOH Core, ICH I/O, ICH Core helped me hit 4.5Ghz once i noticed raising CPU Vcore, QPI/VTT, DRAM over a certain point did nothing. i could finaly load windows after setting the values manualy while on auto i was just able to boot. i belive it help with stability when overcloking, not very noticeble running at 4.2Ghz. auto may do the job for some, for me i have better control of my oc setting each values manualy even if it does a small impact, maybe the small thing you need for 100% stable system and not crap your data

When I first got my i7, I had one bad stick of ram that was causing me stability issues. I ran one stick at a time, 2 booted fine and were stable in linx at near max memory. The bad 1 stick by itself crashed everytime trying to run any stress test and sometimes just booting into windows. Then ran it by itself in memtest and had errors by the third pass on stock settings. RMA solved the issue on mine.

What memory do you have btw?

I've got the OCZ Gold 6GB kit. Thanks for your patience and help. I can now run 1528.

Next up 1910. I don't think I'll get around to attempting this until later in the week. Again, it's memtest stable, but not win stable.

    Edit:
I thought of another question. Are there any aftermarket NB, mosfet, or PWM air cooling solutions that would help?

    Interesting.
I have no fake boot issues on F5g BIOS.
10x memory multiplier is stable. Can 50 Linpack passes be the sign of stability?

just installed F5, my memory latency went from 34 to 48, same settings. Actually went from 34ns to 52 with everest, bandwidth is still the same, i think this might be the software issue, can anyone else confirm?

can someone please run EVEREST with the F5 bios and see if your latency has gone up, mine went from 34 to 52 now, ran it again, bandwidth is perfect but latency is too high, i want to know if this is software or hardware, thanks

    Hi GAR
even with the F5e bios, i'm getting pretty bad latency scores in everest 5
49.5ns is higher than when i had an x48 board lol

hmmm............ might be software, because bandwidth is on target, usually when latency is bad, so is the bandwidth. Have you tried Everest 4?

everest 5 is supposed to be showing the correct latency of the x58/i7

still seems high tho to me
maybe cos we were spoiled with really low scores from version 4 for a while lol

my bad for comparing latencies between versions 4 and 5.
prolly if i ran everest 5 on the same x48, latency scores would be even higher

GAR, it is definitely software problem. Everest 5 shows much more memory latency value then last Everest 4 betas. My personal best was 21.8 ns on Everest 4/F3 and 39.2 on Everest 5/F5g. Now it's 41.3 ns with my 24/7 1930 8-8-8-20-1T on Everest 5/F5h.

Everest 5 was updated to read the latency properly, don't you mean?

It would be interesting to see what the differences are with the X48 boards now.
