i need some good bios for my P5Q Pro.
i use now 1613 bios and i can't get stable, just can't.
for more details look here: http://www.xtremesystems.org/Forums/...d.php?t=216880
so which bios do you guys recommended?
and i don't wont any troubles, i don't like modified bios so much.
so please if you give me modified one please give me some bios that people use and he's good and don't make problems.
tanks.
First of all i know english isn't your first language but it's thanks not tanks. big difference. As for the bios you just have to read thru here. since you're not willing to use modded bioses i hear the 1406 is the one to have. may not be true in all cases but i'm just going with the general consensus.
let us know what you try.

Ok , I am lazy. I haven't read thur all the posts yet to get my answer. I am coming over to Intel from AMD. I just have gotten tried of all there BS. The too major ones were board design and general chip design/plans.
I wanted a 45mn chip and didn't need a quad right now. This is what I have to work with from my crapped out 590 based system:
OCZ 600/650 Extrem Game PS
I brough a set of OCZ PC9200 1150 reaper (4) 1 chips.
Wanted to know which one of your mods and which board will give me the best results. I am thinking about the E8500 or E8400. The E8600 is just too much of a price jump.
I would love to finally see a 4.0 ghz system that works at FULL memory bandwith. I know I can get at least 1200mhz out of these reapers!! I have grown tried of 200 (400 whatever) monkeyed buses.
I know I need a new heatsink and maybe a Harddrive. I have a good fan which I will be getting one to do a push full setup.
Thanks for anyhelp.
ok.. and what mbios is best for asus p5q pro, now, after all.. when KET sold their p5q and stop working on mbios updates...
i still use 1613 mbios, but see that here is some updates of mbioses... my box work stable and i'm satisfied but curious if it's worth to use other (newer?) mbios versions..
what is asus official bios for p5q pro? still 1613??
i was just about to say the same thing. if your bios is fully stable and you have no complaints what are you wanting?!? geez go to asus' website like the rest of us would have to do.
as for the other guy i can't even finish reading your post it's too convoluted. i hope english isn't your first language either.

Hey fellas, I was trying to downgrade the BIOS from 1703 to 1406, but I can't. all update programs (EZ Flash, AFUDOS) simply give an error message and wont flash. I'm going to try the update tool, but apparently, it only works with 32-bit OS...
read around the net... some user are having problems with OCing on BIOS 1703, and most cannot downgrade it either. Any ideas?
it appears i may have RMAed perfectly working RAM modules then....
EDIT: NVM, found a way. wow, apparently 1703 is somewhat broek... OC hardships, BIOS/flash detection problems, and quite frankly, some little issues that I thought were normal suddenly dissappeared when going back to 1406.... huh.

Hi Ket (and others),
I am in need of some serious help on my P5Q Pro!
OK, here's my story, I setup my system about a week ago:
Antec P160W incl. 1xFront / 1xBack (Antec Tri-Cool Blue @ 79 CFM)
OCZ ModStream Pro 700W
-----
ASUS P5Q Pro
Intel Q6600 G0 SLACR
TRUE incl. 1xPush / 1xPull (Noctua NF-P12-1300 @ 55 CFM)
Corsair PC2-8500 Domainator 2x2GB w/ CrossFlow Fan
Sapphire Radeon HD 4870 1GB
-----
1xLG DVD-RW
1xSeagate 320GB OS
2xSeagate 500GB RAID0 Storage
When I setup my board, I set it up stock speeds, and right away flashed up to 1613. I prepared for the arrival by downloading all of my necessary drivers and BIOS flases on my main system -- this is going to be my saweetness gaming machine!
After the flash I made a successful OC to 333x9 for 3.0GHz, not a bad bump, but I've had more on these chips before (I've sold several PCs to friends always with ASUS boards). Tested OK with Memtestx86. With such a light clock, I installed my licensed copy of Vista x64 Ultimate, and got my system running great (games n' all). After in Windows, OCCT tested OK.
I decided to start playing more to try to get it up to 3.4GHz - 3.6GHz. For the life of me, I couldn't even get the board up to 366, the board would not POST (blank screen fans running and no BIOS beeps). A CMOS clear always fixed it. I know enough to keep the dividers matching up, and my memory at 1066 as it is rated. I also know enough to set the voltages: starting at 1.350 and working up to 1.425 for VCore, 2.00 and 2.10 for VDimm, and 1.3 to 1.4 for NB. Oh, and my memory timings of 5-5-5-15 for 1066.
I reset to defaults and flashed back to 1406 without any problems at all (using the KodaKey tool at its latest ver of 0.72), and played around very briefly but stuck at 333x9 for 3.0GHz. Reason being is that I was reading up online and found Ket's 1406 Modded BIOS and wanted to try it!
I reset to defaults and flashed to the 1406 Modded BIOS, and now have a blank screen with no POST again! This is on the reboot right after the flash.
I read, acknowledged, and followed the instructions from Ket:
Sometimes happens. The risk in using any of these mBIOSes is the same as flashing to a new official version. So heres some basic steps to take;
1. Set your system back to stock prior to flashing
If your system does not POST on restart;
2. Clear CMOS by removing battery and power cord, remember to set CMOS jumper to "clear" as well.
Tried those, my system still will not POST
Chances are the flash went wrong. Grab a floppy disk (doesn't need to be bootable) and put a known "good" BIOS on the floppy. Rename the BIOS file to AMIBOOT.ROM, hit the reset button and the system will read the floppy disk and automatically restore the BIOS with the one on the floppy disk. The system will restart a few times and before you know it you will be looking at the POST screen again.
So to confirm, last night, the PC sat without a battery and power cord (I held the power button until the lights went out on it) for 8 hours. Still no POST afterwards. I dropped my 1406.ROM renamed to AMIBOOT.ROM onto a floppy disk. The system does not read the floppy disk at any point during POST, not even if I hit the reset button, or hold the reset button until PWR goes out. I tried dropping the AMIBOOT.ROM onto an empty flash stick, same thing. A last ditch effort, I made a bootable floppy, dropped MiniDOS / AFUDOS / AMIBOOT.ROM and a custom AUTOEXEC.BAT onto the floppy to try. No go! Desperate, I even tried a different floppy drive, floppy cable, and a different PSU connector!
Oh, during system startup, I also tried to force a flash using CTRL-HOME without luck. I think that I am fubar'd! I have been working and building PCs for 10 years, I've never screwed up a BIOS flash on anything, let alone my own equipment (heck I ran a custom BIOS on my MSI Neo2 Platinum and DFI NF4 SLI-DR Expert)!
My PC won't boot, what do I do? HELP, PLEASE!
YES, I know I am asking for a Miracle![]()
! I don't want to return for RMA and wait for 4 weeks......argh!

Hey xw0lf,
The latest official BIOS for the P5Q Pro is the 1613 still.
I hear a lot of good news about the 1406 that was released by ASUS, it's still available on their site, but is useless because their software won't allow you to 'flash back'.
You'll have to use KodaKey's tool at its latest ver of 0.72 -- which includes this 1406 BIOS. The USB key is easy to make, and easy to use as well!
On another note, with the 1406 being so popular, Ket's modded 1406 looks very promising (now ... if only I could get it to work on my system :|!)!

hey, dont tell people that have been here for LONG LONG LONG time, to shut the **** up. Your question was pointless, and if you read thru, lets see......the last 3 pages, you can find all your answers. Have some respect for us citizens of this community. We are here to help, this is not Hardocp, nvnews.net, and other forums that are full of punk a*s kids that spend mommys money, but rather a community full of ADULTS that contribute here, and care! I have made a watercooler for people here, making hardly any-to-no profit what so ever, I JUST DID IT FOR THIS COMMUNTIY. For you to have a post count of "2", and being to lazy to go to asus.com to find your answer in 30 seconds, surely tells us that your "one of them". I think you should come back saying something like, "your right" or maybe even, I was out of place saying what I said" and I will reply to you and say, HAPPY TO HAVE YOU IN THE COMMUNITY, AND ENJOY YOUR STAY
. Other then that, why stay here, cause we will run you off.
Nothing anymore
ok ok
nice to meet you
this last one is written with more respect ... tnx
and sorry for my last one...

now that we're all friends i'm just gonna give a little info regrading wolf's posts. i just got my board 30 min ago and it came with bios version 1613. First oc attempt @3.0 was successful so i guess i'll just try this out for awhile. wolf i'd recommend that you stick with the version you have since you're happy with it.

Hey Ket,
Thanks for your prompt reply, and assistance! You'll be a life saver if you can get me working!
I haven't tried these sticks individually in any of the slots. Never came to my mind, seeing it was working fine with stock / 1613 / and 1406!
Also, should I be using Black or Yellow slots?
I've always used the Black slots on ASUS boards, as even back in the 478 days, these were 'supposedly' the ones to use. Ya know the old rule, use the slots furthest away from the CPU!
I've been reading up, and heard varying contradictory responses on that one.
Thank You,
Jonathan

Hey Ket,
Here's an update on the board situation:
- I tried both sticks of memory in all 4 slots, independently.
- I tried a USB floppy drive, pressed reset, but still no recovery.
I use a wireless keyboard and mouse primarily, the "F" key turns on and off, and also the "NUMLOCK" key turns on and off. I tried a wired PS/2 keyboard, during boot, the "NUMLOCK" key will not turn on or off. Also, CTRL+HOME does not force a BIOS Recovery on the wired keyboard.
I'm at a loss man. Argh!
Thank You,

For sure its a strange one. All mBIOSes work great, flashed em to my own Pro before releasing them. I would try yellow and black slots. yellow seemed to work good with my gkx sticks but black may be the better slots to use. Deffinately worth trying a el cheapo memory stick if you can, some sticks just wont work with 1.8v. Point in case, my gkx sticks work fine on 1.8v in my pro, but in the tpower they need about 2v.
