And the random power-down's happen without OC as well?

Anyone know if it's possible to change the mode of the silicon image SATA controller to AHCI?

I know it has been discuss, but I don't find it.
I am on VistaX64 and I want ot use de on-board sound card, but I does not work quiet well. Using latest drivers from Asus site it has ,,glitches'' in the sound. Pretty often Winamp crashes.
Is there a better driver ?

Sure the CPU is not overheating and shutting down for safety? That's usually just a poorly mounted heatsink.

Since I have P5Q Pro, I'll ask here.

I have two Q6600 G0 1.23 VID and both of them work on default voltage at 3ghz(333x9) Prime95 stable. First one works stable on 400x8 3.2Ghz with minimum voltage raise, other one won't make stable 3.2Ghz whatever I adjust. It's strange, what settings should I adjust?

    Thanks.

Lots of good info in this thread, I'm enjoying reading it immensely. I will be getting my E8500 and Asus P5Q Deluxe pretty soon. Gonna be running the E8500 with the Thermalright 120 Ultra Extreme heatsink. I have 2 2 gig sticks of Corsair PC8500 ram already. If I can get 4 gigs with this setup, I will be extremely happy.

Anyone care to give me some base settings to try first to try to hit that? I would REALLY appreciate that.

I'd like to start first with the stock multiplier (9.5), fsb to 420 and see if I can hit the 4 gig mark from there. I'm OK with a 1/1 fsb/memory ratio. If I can hit the 4 gigs with that, then later I might then start trying to lower the multiplier and upping the fsb and memory (and still have that same cpu speed).

4Gigs with your cpu and this Mobo will not be a problem i think and 500x8 also not a problem if the cpu want to run at this FSB.
I have tested a good e8400 CPU running 470x9 without problems 24/24 now without pushing voltages on aircooling in a friends system,he's using G.Skill PI 8800 Memory.
This screen was made a few days before we went at 470x9.

omiez, i think you should test with Orthos Blend, because Linpack isn't testing ram good. It's better for cpu stability testing, not RAM.

No problem i tested the system with Orthos Blend Test too and it was stable.
I use IBT to see only CPU Stability for Ram Prime95 or Orthos.

I am going to be upgrading to a q9650 very soon and I should be getting my other 2x2gb kit back from an rma around the same time. I plan on running the q9650 at 475-500x9 (hopefully) with the ram (4x2gb) at 1:1 ratio for 24/7 usage. What voltage should I be feeding the northbridge at those settings?

I have found the exact opposite to be true. I have found prime to be much better, faster at finding fsb errors than IBT and yes I have used a few versions of IBT on a couple of different P45s. I do find IBT to be the best program to find memory and northbridge errors, though.

Prolly 1.36-1.4ish mate, better get a fan on the NB !
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

Thanks, you are the man. What would you reccomend for a fan? The big problem is that my TRUE hangs over the heatsink. I can only fit a 40x10mm on the bottom half and it is still blocked by the Asus logo. I have an Antec 1200 with high those 1900rpm slipstreams, do you think that would be enough? At 1.26 my motherboard temp tops out at 30c,it's the middle of winter here, with my e8400 at 440x9 and a 2x2gb kit so it's not being stressed as hard either. I also replaced the TIM with MX-2 so Im hoping that might help as well.

Edit Im thinking of this here Petra's

I put an Antec spotcool on it mate, very easy to work with as it can be screwed down on one of the mobo supports...it can be directed in a zillion of ways and is 3 speed adjustable

Is that still on the 1024K that it crashes ?

i have almost the same problem. My e8400 C0 was stable at 4203 1.336vcore with my old Corsair 2gb 800mhz CL5 stick, but with a-data (look in signature) i can't get it stable on 4203 1.352. It passes Small FFT, linx 10 rounds, but crashes in Blend 1024k after several minutes. What should i do to get it stable??? I tried to rise NB and vFsb up to 1.30v, but it didn't helped.

i have almost the same problem. My e8400 C0 was stable at 4203 1.336vcore with my old Corsair 2gb 800mhz CL5 stick, but with a-data (look in signature) i can't get it stable on 4203 1.336. It passes Small FFT, linx 10 rounds, but crashes in Blend 1024k after several minutes. What should i do to get it stable??? I tried to rise NB and vFsb up to 1.30v, but it didn't helped.

also i noticed that Blend testing sometimes can stop after 4-5mins and sometimes can run longer than 40mins without any errors. I think there's something with FSB...
